So well done and from what I read, the doors didn’t bring any lights with them and that’s why its somewhat dark. Also I heard it was around midnight when they went on.... But damn this was one hell of a doors’ show...
Dante Mendez POP band? They CREATED psychedelic rock, with the song Norwegian wood, created a whole new sound with each album, and have you heard the white album? The first hard rock song/heavy metal song: Helter Skelter, along with rock songs such as Yer Blues, Revolution 1 (/Revolution) Happiness is a Warm Gun, Why Don't We Do It In The Road, Birthday, etc. and off the white album, I've got a feeling, Don't Let me down (rooftop version and studio version) Oh! Darling, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Carry That Weight, The End, etc. every song of theirs did not sound the same. Cant say the same with the doors (I adore The Doors, by the way) listen to their first album. Every guitar solo sounds extremely similar. The Beatles paved the way for music. They created so many new technologies and techniques. They were the revolution of music. No one comes close to them
The first single that introduced the Doors to the world, and they broke on through. It still sounds great, nearly 55 years later. The Doors longevity and impact on listeners is truly infinite.
1000% Agree. i was born late 80s and the doors are still probably one of my alll time favourites, when i show others that have nevee hear the songs before and explain the lyrics and get them to listen to the music and the difference between their music and todays they really click with the doors.
No bass player was kinda their problem. I love the doors, always have, but the sound is so thin without a bass guitar player. Anyways, this is still really cool. Might pick this up!
I was a huge Doors fan back in those days, and always have been. Jim Morrison was immensely talented. He was a poet, I have his books, and he could really sing. He was a tragic figure, gone too soon.
@@edhardwick2538 love Rick but Ray always seem to fit the song better rather than showing off licks and soloing, his playing makes their song swing and groove so good it made them more than an ordinary rock band.
Don Hancock I believe the story behind that is, they didn’t know they were supposed to bring their own equipment, so that’s why other bands had more lighting and why the doors only had the red lighting and the one spot light
@@buddywilliams5650 Ray plays the bass lines on his 2nd keyboard. On the albums they pull in bassists to play the bass part, never a permanent member or anything and only used for recording, live stuff was all Ray. Also a bass line doesn't mean it's played on bass fyi, it is just a secondary (though on some rare occasions it is the primary) line of music that is in the lowest range. Like classical music has basslines, but it's played on tuba, euphonium, trombone, baritone sax, etc. TLDR: They use bass players for the albums, Ray plays the bass lines on keyboard, basslines aren't just for basses. Sorry for those paragraphs, hope you have a good day.
@@jackypatterson4139 heyy tell us,how is the expirience around a Doors concert?,and what do you feel about hear the scream of jim saying Fireee at the end of light my fire?i think its the best version of light my fire in philadelpia
Holy SHIT! My uncle went to this festival and I realise now he must have seen these guys! Lucky bastard!! God I wish I’d been alive then! The most interesting of times along with the Eighties.
So damn tight, these guys. I will never understand why The Doors are so under appreciated. EDIT: after 4 years and having read your comnents, I want to revise this last statement. I hope every generation and every lover of excellent, unsurpassed music experiences falling in love, for keeps, with The Doors. They are magic. Perfect magic
JACKY PATTERSON fellow 15 yr old here, i love the doors and Jim Morrison is one of my idols but unfortunately I would say most teens these days probably don’t know who Jim is but who cares this music isnt intended for people who don’t listen.
@@lonelyhearts4216 I totally agree Max..they are for the most part not intelligent enuf to absorb his meaning!! I first saw the Doors in 1968 and last saw the boys in May of 1970... here in Philadelphia PA... Been a fan 52 years.. Good 2 hear from u
The Doors, like many rock bands of that period, developed their own unique approach. The band's performances, compositions and arraignments were built around Morrison. Jim's charisma, manner, poetry, voice, dress, drew huge audiences. Even now as I listen, I'm transported back through time to the rise of cynicism, youth rebellion, civil rights, peace and love.
I see Morrison's with his eyes closed then I close my eyes too, I'm smiling like an idiot while he sing and I feel this sensation inside me.... Is this happiness?.
"The Doors are creatures from another planet who have come here to change our music." - Then 10 year old Jac Holtzman Jr., son of Elektra Records producer Jac Holtzman.
This song always takes me on a phenomenal roller coaster ride ! I am always mesmerized by the pure genius on keyboard , haunting guitar and incredible drums accompanied by Morrison's hypnotic voice ! A brilliant performance that never disappoints. Simply out of this world!
Great set! I saw them live in concert twice, the first time with my mom when I was 13. I was supposed to see them a third time, but the concert was cancelled as was the whole tour. You see, on March 1, 1969, Morrison allegedly decided to show Little Jimmy to the audience in Miami. Years later I visited his grave at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.
Por favorrrrrr que tenían estos tipos!!!!! Que locura los sonidos de estos personajes no puede ser que al día de hoy no se pueda entender la grandeza de lo oculto de esta musica
The whole band I feel is a rare example of everyone being a key component. Like yeah Jim Morrison has such an iconic voice but everyone else holds their weight one way or another. Everyone is just so essential to the overall sound it’s honestly more then impressive.
Beyond curious to know what these musical geniuses would do with modern technology and musical era. I’m absolutely in love with the display of talent and personality The Doors consistently bring. Fuckin lovely man.
...Orgasmo musical del minuto 3:45 al 4:49. Es una locura lo que se siente estar al lado de una banda de semejante calidad y ritmo, tocada con pasión y adrenalina. Leyendas!
I remember being there and watching this performance The sound quality on this recording is amazing though . An absolutely magical weekend with Morrison , Hendrix magnificent and yet within a year they were dead far too young and far too soon RIP and thank you for the music and the wonderful memories
The Doors. What a trip. Beautiful and spiritual and sad. Jim seemed more dedicated to truly breaking through to the other side more than any artist I can think of.
After listening to many The doors concerts I have come with the conclusion that this one is the most musically beautiful, don't get me wrong, I love the one from detroit, that version of the end is the purest in my opinion. But this concert is basically their peak performance, Ray and Robby and John were on point with instruments, so coordinated.
@@gatsbygoodwood2575 Oh yeah, I know they were planning on bringing a bassist this time, It would've been amazing to see Manzarek using both his hands for his amazing solos. It pains me that we never really got a live version of Riders on the storm, Geez can you imagine what they could've done with Riders on the storm? From what I've heard the 4 of them loved that song, In my opinion they prolly wouldve turned it into something similar to "The end" with a very long piano solo and some nice dark poems, Would've been amazing.
This was 1970; a year later, Jim Morrison died at age 27. He looks lit up here. It's too bad that he lived fast and died too young. I remember playing The Doors album over and over. Break on Through had this cool tink...tink...tink by the drummer at the beginning. A great sound in 1967 and the beginning of what was happening in music then.
As much as I love listening to Jim sing, take a good listen to the rest of the Doors. Great musicality from Ray on the organ and the drummer John D. Can't forget Robby as well, great blues and rock player
Sounds amazing, Jim singing and the Doors showing what great musicians they were, 4 people came together to create music never to be forgotton ..perfection at the very most.
I just have to add a personal story. I was doing a cover of this song with my band. I sang it. It was a small show, and someone handed me a lit joint while I was singing the "she gets high" part. I took a hit, and gave a shotgun to 2 of the 3 guys playing. The crowd was going nuts. The guitarist didn't smoke weed, and wouldn't do it. I looked at the crowd and said "And if you don't want to, don't." Cheers. I gave the joint back to the guy and thanked him. Then I sang "I got high, I got high..." A few months later, we were getting real gigs. We did Break on Through directly into Roadhouse Blues. Ugh, Ugh, Ugh, UGH! - donk-a-donk-a-duh-duh-duh-donk-a-donk-a-donk... I sang and played harmonica. It was amazing. The only other Doors song we did was Peace Frog. That was also something that put the audience right in our hands. The Doors are on their own level.
Higher baby. Get higher baby. Get high. Thankful I saw them live in 1967. Altered state. Realm of Spirits. Watching this can feel their presence. Thanks for uploading.
