If there's one thing I hate it's shitty ass gear being marketed towards the masses. It's this disdain that has led us in the current cultural zeitgeist of snowboarding that fly by night companies are popping up with inferior product and marketing it towards people that snowboard and sometimes even people that claim to be snowboarders. So what is a guy to do? Simple, I I bought 10 pairs of pricepoint pants under $200USD and I tore them apart to see what's good and what isn't. This is just a section where I tore apart the Dope Snow Iconic Pant.

wouldnt say im a fan of dope products at all but I did buy a pair of these pants a few years back and they actually impressed me. Kept me warm in very low temps & No rips or tears after almost 150 days on snow in the last 2-3 years. The back pockets are deff stupid and should not exist. Id be more of a fan of these pants if they where around 80-100 bucks because you can get a much better pant for the price point.

Used it for Snowboarding and Skiing this Season and that’s my impression: held me warm on cold days and was not too hot in warm days (10°C), my butt stayed dry while sitting on snow even if the pants got soaked, the “shoelace” strip is actually helpful for people with a smaller waist bc the belt things there has limits in tightening, the back pocket is useless but is probably for stylistic reasons there and I am also quite sure that dope is a brand with the intentions to create cool looks. If u don’t care about your style u sure can buy cheaper and maybe better ones but

My ex bought dope snow pants and a jacket and the whole suit was just thin cheap garbage, she was freezing all winter and it started to come apart, for the price it's not worth, if it was cheap i could see it being ok for spring riding when you're going home soaked regardless of what you're wearing but they wont last long at all..

@@AngrySnowboarder I still use the one that came with my sewing machine! I can't suggest a certain one, though I will say that clover brand sewing supplies have impressed me. Perhaps their seam rippers are good quality.

I just wish other companies had colors like the dusk color from dope. Always been a fan of "cosmic" style colors lol. I wont sacrifice quality for a cool color but im sad the color isnt there for volcom. Khaki, black, and grey gets old.

I have some pants and jackets from dope and the quality is just as good as other brands I seen friends with way more expensive stuff break it in a matter of hours and my dope sfuff is still oké

its interesting no? i had a 500$ northface summit series jacket (gortex) that i used half a year before i had to get a new one (constantly soaked after every snowfall)... The montec (the non insulated one) one has lasted over double with no signs of leaking yet at 2/3rds the price. Honestly curious is north face grotex considered good?@@AngrySnowboarder

All the top comments are saying that the dope gear is no THAT bad and you are just sitting here crying about how something you didn’t even wear is "crap". Maybe the product is good enough for the average skier/snowboarder even though it might be overpriced

if you like bibs, thirtytwo basement bibs have been killer, keep me warm, super comfy, vents everywhere for the warm days as far as non-bibs, anything volcom is an absolute no-brainer if you wait for an offseason sale. if you get the combo of volcom jacket volcom pants, they zip together so you have all the upsides of a snowsuit without lookin like a dork ass skier

@@devivovdv I have a 686 jacket that I got for pretty cheap that I've had for over 10 years now that's still in decent condition. Probably not as waterproof as it was new but no rips or anything like that. Currently using Volcom gore tex bibs I've had for 2 years going snowboarding like twice a week and they still look like they did when they were new

Real brands are ones that real snowboarders wear that support real snowboarding and have invested in the community. If it hits you with a targeted ad that looks like it belongs on Tikky Tokky or has some stupid influencer pushing it then it's not a real brand. Look at stuff from L1, Volcom, 686, Burton, Airblaster, etc.

I’ve had my dope jacket for 4/5 years . Been heavily used in multiple different scenarios, boarding, hiking etc etc It has never failed me and is in immaculate condition. Better than my thirty two stuff, Roxy and burton! So I’m sold. They are a bit of a victim of their own success. As they were an up and coming brand years ago that just got too popular with too much social media to bring on the hate. Their kit has served me really well, customer service is the best I’ve experienced, 90 day return policy!!

A lot of dope hate on here but I tried multiple jacket brands and dope was my favorite. It fit me the best, super comfortable, and had all the pockets and utility I wanted. I also like the shell version the best because I run hot.

My current rules of safety: 1. Stay clear of turtles on bums 2. Stay clear of people in ‘dope’ + Montec + Snobodi They have taken over the beginner outerwear here in Australia.
