Irene, I love your work! Thank you for what you do. I’ve had a different experience with a “label” than how you described. I took on a label which was freeing and helped me to ultimately find real solutions, rather than use the label as an “excuse” to be complacent as a neurodivergent-which is how you describe labels to function from your perspective. And not only was it freeing, but the label allowed me to accept myself as who I am, where I’m at, and my self-esteem skyrocketed. I became a whole new version of myself. I have zero attachment to the label, but I’m grateful for it because it helped me realize a personal truth-that I wasn’t different than others because of an innate defect, but rather I was just physiologically built different. And from what I’m learning now (from you), I can change how I’m built(wired)-which is wonderful! I’m currently in you class “21-day nervous system tune up” and learning SO much. I can see how this somatic type work can be life-changing.

Indeed. Just knowing that you are not a broken Windows pc in a Windows world, rather a Mac in a Windows world, to use Ellie Middleton's analogy. I think this is really important. Labels can be misused by us and against us, but can be really helpful and healing. Nuance is important.

Irene and Lyon team! You have been my teacher and guide for many years. It became VERY clear that as all your mentors would wish( one hopes❤),that you surpassed and expanded their works on nervous systems healing and the power of knowledge! I want to let you know that it is starting to bleed over into the non duality/ Buddhism/ spiritual arenas! I know you are aware of all the bypassing and I thought you might be moved to know this ❤Your name and work has,popped up in some of the more grounded and practical spiritual circles. Much love and gratitude 🙏

Thank you for this video. I so resonate with every aspect of it. At 52 years old and 5 years of a journey of healing from narcissistic abuse, I have discovered so many things about myself like ADD. Watching this made me cry!! Finally, I know that I'm not the only one. And there is an ability to heal and find regulation. This is so deep. But so am I.

OH OH WOW! I just realized that I was using Ritalin and Adderall to manage my freeze response 😅 I didn't have ADHD and I KNEW I wasn't just tired or depressed. I CERTAINLY didn't know how severely traumatized I was back then. You talk about this process sometimes taking MANY years. This is definitely my experience. In my darkest times of symptoms flaring, bedridden states I often condemn myself to dying before any lasting progress and living life can occur. But no, because I keep on learning and trying to practice ❤

When Irene talks about "everyone can heal but not everyone will," she talks about worthiness and I think that is very true. But I think there is also the element of being willing to let go of being the victim. I've seen time and again that when someone is not willing to give up the victim mentality, they are not able to heal.
@GoldandPinkLight
@GoldandPinkLight Месяц назад
@@Return2Self I know a number of people who really were victims. And they could have chosen to stay in the role of victim. But they didn't. They decided to heal. I don't mean to sound brutal and by no means am I saying that it is easy by any stretch of the imagination. But at some point it becomes a choice to make. Do I want to be a victim or do I want to heal? Of course, it is a blessing to be able to make the choice to heal. Not everyone has that ability in this particular lifetime or even in this particular moment. And I think you can do the work in pieces - it may not need to be all or none all at once - but I do think ultimately you have to chose if you want to stay a victim or if you want true freedom and wholeness. I just personally haven't witnessed anyone being able to have both.
@GoldandPinkLight
@GoldandPinkLight Месяц назад
@@Return2Self What Esther Hicks talks about is only a slice of the truth, it's not the whole Truth. I went down that rabbit hole a few different times in my life and each time I would ultimately end up severely depressed. It's only a small piece of what's really going on, and quite a limited view. It's very overly simplistic. What's going on here, and who you ARE, is WAAAAYYYYY more complicated than that. You are not broken. You may be heart broken, but you're not broken. Many of us are heart broken. This world is heart breaking. But our bodies hold the ability to heal. They hold the ability to help us heal on all levels. They hold a place where we can feel at home and whole. That's the power of somatic work; to experience the healing we are taught is not possible. When we are a victim of ourselves, it's only because the wounded parts of us still live within our body. This is where learning about Internal Family Systems (IFS), a.k.a. "parts work" can be really helpful. You can learn that there is a part of you that is whole and that you are not those wounded parts; they are just fragments of your Self that are in need of care, compassion and understanding.

Just fyi- might want to update the title of the video- ADD (at least in the States, I can’t speak for elsewhere) is no longer a diagnosis and is an outdated term. Regardless of presentation (outwardly hyperactive or not) it’s just ADHD. Yeah it’s a terrible name for the condition, giving an inaccurate or incomplete idea of what it actually is, but it’s what we’ve got for now.

Hi, I think it’s pretty common too but by comparison with my peers mine does seem to be extreme. I also think there are a lot of dysregulated people going through school both in the 90’s like me and current that experience these things and maybe we have normalized this loss of information and lack of attention and memory more than we should. Thanks for your insight.

❤ Irene, thank you for all the content. I’ve been „working” on myself for the last year and in a strange way I figures it out by myslef that I have cptsd. I was not aware of the fact that I was living in a disrupted way. What I long for the most is feeling love and connection with people. To be happy about doing things with them. And od course by myself too. I’m in a relationship that I cptsd has almost ruined and I want to work on it. Is there any specific reading or a video you could recommend to me on this topic? All the best, Łukasz

I can resonate with TV shows and movies being frustratingly confusing, and now being able to follow better :) My question to you both is: I completely believe in healing our nervous systems, and putting the work in to educate ourselves and practice (and repeat). But that takes a long time, so in the meantime how do I get through the day? I've been working on healing my nervous system for several years, and will continue to do so. But now I'm about to turn 40 and I'm exhausted and frustrated with the overwhelm, confusion, anxiety, and dread that I feel every single day. I'm discussing ADHD medicine for the first time, and it feels really hopeful. How do I reconcile this?

Hello, Sophia here from Team Lyon. Thank you for your comment and for sharing about what's going on for you. To answer your question, healing the nervous system happens step by step, a little bit each day, consistently. You might find these videos of Irene speaking about the concept of titration helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n50ugTCeomU.html and ru-vid.comkUgkowZhmWs If you feel inclined to work with your nervous system as you mentioned, we highly recommend Irene's free resources, including the mini-training, "Healing Trauma" irenelyon.com/free-resources/ For those who wish to dive deeper we recommend Irene's paid offerings here: irenelyon.com/programs/ Please feel free to reach out to our support inbox if you have any questions

I'm in the same boat. Been working with trauma healing for years but my ADHD can largely prevented me from being consistent. I was SO dysregulated when I started and despite doing trauma healing practitioner training myself, I'm still quite dysregulated and unfocused. I was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea after 25 years of hell with my sleep, so this has been a HUGE change/improvement for me. I've started taking 1mg Adderrall (1/4 of a 5mg tablet) on SOME days and it's really helping me. Even in terms of say, being able to focus on getting through SBSM it can help. I feel like we are on the right path, sticking with the healing work and also maybe finding medication helpful in the meantime. Hopefully one day I won't need it anymore.

@@aquarius1986 I just read something similar about sleep apnea being related to ADHD symptoms and I’m in the process of getting a valuated for sleep apnea. Can I ask if you did anything for your sleep apnea? Medical wise did you take anything? Did you use anything for the sleep apnea? Thanks so much for any clarification.
@aquarius1986
@aquarius1986 8 дней назад
@@iamme7830 Yes, I now use a CPAP machine every night. This is the treatment for sleep apnea - you have to use it every night, but don't despair if you need one. For me getting used to it took a couple of weeks but I don't have much of a problem with it now. :) It is changing my life. I still struggle with sleep sometimes if I have any stimulants during the day (like last night I didn't sleep well because I ate some chocolate earlier in the day, so I feel really awful today), but most nights I'm able to sleep through the night now using the CPAP. Other people use an oral device that pulls their jaw forward to create more space for air in their mouth by preventing the tongue from falling back. I tried that but it was extremely painful and unpleasant for me, so $2k down the drain on that. Others get surgeries. I'm planning to look into some surgeries as I have Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome - my airways are not big enough and my upper palate of my mouth is too narrow. And yeah, if you have untreated sleep apnea it will exacerbate emotional dysregulation/mood issues, make it near impossible to concentrate, negatively affect memory, give you a feeling of burn out and exhaustion all the time, increase hypersensitivity, etc. I can't say using CPAP is curing my ADHD at all but at least I don't feel as terrible (most days) and now can tackle my other problems without them being made 10000x worse by sleep deprivation. Good luck with your screening!! It is so necessary to treat sleep apnea...feel free to ask questions. :)

Forgive my bluntness, but it seems incredibly disingenuous after being diagnosed with ADHD and having benefitted from medication to then say ADHD is over-diagnosed and imply that it's over-medicated. It strikes me as a real disservice to women in particular, who often slip through the net until adulthood regarding this diagnosis and therefore accessing the associated help and healing that goes along with it.
