Same! Vegetarian for longer than I can remember, but I never browbeat or soapbox. I don’t have tshirts about it or shape my whole identity around my dietary choices. It’s sad that there’s annoying advocates out there, but that kinda job sucks usually (high-stress low pay), so the only ones willing to do it are the types who think the attention they get makes it worth it, so loud attention seeking people are attracted to these gigs

I’ve met a few annoying vegans, but tbh I’ve met just as many annoying vegan haters who will go out of their way to shit on vegans/vegetarians and act like it would literally kill them to ever eat a meatless meal

Well to be fair to Papa, the REASON we’re comparing something is because they’re not identical , they’re just similar in 1 or more aspect, then comparisons are used highlight that aspect. For example, the Holocaust and industrial slaughter houses aren’t the same. But they do share the common aspect of systematic killing of beings deemed non-human or sub-human. Are there differences? Heck yeah, You bet. But the point of comparisons is that we don’t have to claim that they’re identical or equal, just similar in at least 1 aspect. And Papa is right to say there’s at least 1 common aspect.

@@Sprite_525 I understand that, however it can't be read simply as a sterile comparison, when Jewish and Rroma people were compared to animals as justification for sending them to slaughter. The parallelism is present, certainly, but in so making said comparison is to disregard those lives, even if only theoretically. Besides, a metaphor in this situation is lazy and only used for shock value; tvt isn't so much right as she is provocative with zero purpose. She doesn't care about actual education and weaponizes marginalized people for views

I’m happy to eat ethical meat, but I have a hard time seeing the balance between humane treatment and greed/capitalism in the meat industry. There is more profit when the animals are inhumanely treated

@@RAHHicecream I don't like inhumane treatment of animals myself, but imo, there are priorities. The vegan diet is not sufficient for people, for the most part, so I think once we take care of nutrients for everyone, even the most poor, only then should we start prioritizing treating animals better.
