Exactly two years ago, I installed OSX Leopard 10.5 on a tiny Acer Aspire One Netbook and showed Logic Pro and Reason running.
To commemorate, it's only fitting that my latest project is installing OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard on the biggest laptop ever (for now): an HP HDX 20, also known as Dragon.
What works: nVidia 8800M-GTS video in full 1680x1050 resolution, audio (VoodooHDA), trackpad, keyboard, webcam, volume touchsliders, USB ports on left side of unit, battery indicator, Bluetooth.
What doesn't: card reader, USB ports on right side of unit, wifi or wired ethernet, remote control, other touch buttons for media, treble/bass, eject, etc.
Not tested or tried yet: Fingerprint reader, built-in TV tuner (an AVer Media), external VGA or HDMI ports.
Mods: The built-in wifi card (an Intel 4965abgn) and wired Ethernet (Marvell 88E8055) do not work and the available drivers cause a kernel panic. But the machine has room for two mini PCI wireless cards, so I used a Broadcom 4311-compatible, which works great, and left the Intel in there.
There are two 2.5" SATA hard disks inside. The primary (boot drive) has OSX and Chameleon bootloader, which can also kick off Windows installed on the 2nd hard drive.
I will probably install Logic and Reason 5 and do more videos sometime soon.
