T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.

+Northern Gardener the world is working hard on this, to lose their ability to recognize themselves, to observe themeselves, to questioning everything. "Many people, however, refuse to accept this, making excuses for their unhappiness, for their feelings of disconnect and loneliness in the world, prodding on through their daily activities, never striving for self actualization." And to run a life like this, that can only be bad for the whole world. for me, its a lack of information about how things really are.

I see only peace and love in this comment section. I like to think of death as a soul returning from the distant shores of the universe and experiencing it in all its infinite glory. Whether we go back to the void, an afterlife, or another chance at life, I think there is eternal comfort in knowing that we at least got the chance to feel our own existence. If you're reading this, I hope you find the solace, happiness, answers, or whatever it may be that you're looking for. Every time I look at the stars I will send good energy your way. RIP Alan Watts.

If you awaken from this illusion and you understand that black implies white, self implies other, life implies death (or shall I say death implies life?), you can feel yourself - not as a stranger in the world, not as something here unprobational, not as something that has arrived here by fluke - but you can begin to feel your own existence as absolutely fundamental. I am not trying to sell you on this idea in the sense of converting you to it, I want you to play with it. I want you to think of its possibilities, I am not trying to prove it. I am just putting it forward as a possibility of life to think about. So then, let’s suppose that you were able every night to dream any dream you wanted to dream, and that you could for example have the power within one night to dream 75 years of time, or any length of time you wanted to have. And you would, naturally, as you began on this adventure of dreams, you would fulfill all your wishes. You would have every kind of pleasure during your sleep. And after several nights of 75 years of total pleasure each you would say “Well that was pretty great”. But now let’s have a surprise, let’s have a dream which isn’t under control, where something is gonna happen to me that I don’t know what it's gonna be. And you would dig that and would come out of that and you would say “Wow that was a close shave, wasn’t it?”. Then you would get more and more adventurous and you would make further- and further-out gambles what you would dream. And finally, you would dream where you are now. You would dream the dream of living the life that you are actually living today. That would be within the infinite multiplicity of choices you would have. Of playing that you weren't god, because the whole nature of the godhead, according to this idea, is to play that he is not. So in this idea then, everybody is fundamentally the ultimate reality, not god in a politically kingly sense, but god in the sense of being the self, the deep-down basic whatever there is. And you are all that, only you are pretending you are not.

I think black, and life, do not require white, or death Though death does by definition require life, (you can't die unless first alive) life does not require death, if this was true anything that is alive, at any point, including a creator, or eternal beings, must come to an end.

Chalchiuitlyollotl You must redefine what the word god means in order to reach that conclusion, God is not simply defined as a conscious being with the ability to affect itself and it's environment, which is what we are. Remember this, when you change the definition of a word, the connotations of that word change as well, taking away the actual importance the word brings to the statement.

+Matthew Hansen I understand :) I had a moment of complete clarity the other night, which I'm sure grew from the seeds of great teachers like alan watts.  We're fractions of the conciousness that is the universe. Our purpose as human beings is to be a way for the universe to feel, explore and express itself. To live out countless dramas. Not just humans. I honestly believe this is a dream or simulation of some kind. There is evidence to support the simulation theory. If this reality is a simulation or a game, when you play a game, you're a player in a game, playing a game which was created by another player of the same game........which is a part of the game reality... if we get to the stage where we create a simulation of the universe, we're getting fractalicious!!!!!

Preston Ray No worries, we all have "wasted" time doing things in confusion. But the great thing with life is that time does not matter. Time only matters for the "ego" which is a product of time, but for life/death time can't be wasted. See it like this; these 15 years was important so that you can know that you were something that you don't wanna be, in order to know what you wanna be. It's quite a beautiful thing that we humans can have the experience of "closed mindness", look what the world is now, the shallow society that talks about things like materialism, who is best/who is not, all wars about nothing, our search to be famous and so on. All our history is this "shallow-closed-mind", and I guess it has been a thrilling experience for the human race. But now it's time to wake up for it does not serve us anymore, we are destroying the planet and ourself at greater and greater rate. Whatever happens happens, life always finds a way :)

I came here from Palaye Royale ("The Boom"), and I can say that I'm not unsatisfied. I've been listening to Watts' speeches for hours. I'm in class. I'm wasting time, but I really don't care. These are the thoughts that go through my mind that I don't know how to put into words, but he's put them into words perfectly. And I love it so much.

I would say more, the most genius things that you have heard or will ever hear are not the things from other realities or other highly unreachable levels of consciousness. They are from your own thoughts, from the things that you already have inside your head, that is the real reason you accept them with pleasure and gratitude and happiness. You feel complete, because finally you understand that the beauty expressed by a genius has been living inside you for as long as you exist :)

Thanks bro! You made my day!! I´m really trying to re-compose this audio without the background song, and there´s a part in the alan watts speech that doenst come in that track "captivated by drama". And the part is this: "I am not trying to sell you on this idea in the sense of converting you to it, I want you to play with it. I want you to think of its possibilities, I am not trying to prove it. I am just putting it forward as a possibility of life to think about." Can you help me?

CONGRADULATIONS Isaac for winning 1st place for this video in the My Hero Film Festival! You thoroughly deserve it, since you are very talented at merging powerful visuals with ambient music and powerful speeches. I voted first place for you. My second vote would have gone to "A Declaration of Interdependance" which I am happy to see also won an award. Both video I have saved to my playlist where they will be getting more exposure than you realize right now. Your "Message to all of Humanity" video, which is my second favorite video on RU-vid after "Gratitude" by Louie Schwartzberg, should have also been entered into that competition, since in my opinion that speech of Charlie Chaplin is the most profound speech ever written. I am happy you did it justice by merging it with powerful visuals and music. You should enter that video next year into this competition. It should win hands down. I have big plans for that video...

The first time I saw this many years ago, I literally CRIED like a baby. NOT because I was sad, but because I realized right then, that I was capable of anything and everything that the system and the world has always taught us since birth we are NOT or NOT capable of doing/having/being. This is life changing for those who truly get this message and run with it!

Alan Watts was an singular voice, extraordinary, and who was as much a contradiction as was his westernized zen to the secular purists. He lived on a serene houseboat in Sausalito California, yet drove a gas guzzling Cadillac to his talks where he spoke often of giving up materialism and money to free one's true consciousness. He preached the body as the temple of being, yet downed vodka by the bottles ( no hangover with vodka to impede his Tibetan thoughts). He truly lived the yin and yang which makes him no less profound.

I like to think that this dream he describes at the end is real life. You’re god (you dont know it) and you’re just playing that you’re not. It allowed me to see the beauty in life and love everything beyond form. Love things for what they are because the point of life is no more than to be experienced. Take care my friends

I don't know much about him to be honest with you all. I know, growing up in the 60's and 70's, he was highly regarded and his books dominated the shelves. But, I always considered him to be sort of a hippy philosopher and not of the caliber of a cave-dwelling, highly disciplined and realized yogi or master. But, after hearing this, his teachings are quit profound. I inherited a huge stash of his audio tapes from my mom and I gave them to a very kind man with very poor health, but very calm and sort of constantly crossing over from this world and realizing "not quite yet," and coming back. Very sad what doctors did to him. (But that's another story.) Anyway, I knew that he adored Alan Watts' teachings and when he received these tapes he enjoyed the teachings immensely. My friend was a wonderful saintly man and taught me much. Thank you. Peace.
