The Dresden Dolls perform "War Pigs" live at The Paradise Rock Club in Boston, MA 07.09.04. Live Recording & Mastering: DVN Stage Left Editing Zealot: Sarah The Other Italian: Johnny (UglyBoy)
amanda has a great set of balls :) great cover, best cover of war pigs since faith no more in the 80's, good to see a song living it large and retaining its meaning almost 50 yrs after its debut. looking forward to hearing more of the dresden dolls work, missed their last tour of aus may have to go see their next one.
Haha, brilliant. Perfect description. I have a hard time trying to "explain" them to my friends. But I love them, I just find them so interesting and exciting. Lyrically, musically, performance wise, et all. So, yes, they're not for everyone.
I admit, I was never a Sabbath fan (didn't hate them, they just never caught my ears) until I saw DD do this cover at their 10 year Anniversary show in Boston. It was......AAAAAMAZING!!!
as far as being a huge metal fan-i think they played the song as it was meant to be played. its meant to bring on passion against corrupt gov't and they have it and showed it. amazing job
Oh man. I revisited this video after so long. But I so wish I was there on the crowd this day. I was into Sabbath long before I was into the Dolls, but really, this is an amazing cover. I appreciate diversity in music, man. Another amazing cover was Faith No More's.
I know, wow, really. This is a particularly good video. And he looks great too ;) They have such wonderful chemistry, even their movements are so coordinated, almost one. And War pigs sounds great on the piano. Also, I never found Ozzy a particularly great singer, its just that I loved Black Sabbath so much.
dudes, stop arguing about sabbath and dresden dolls. They are both amazing, and this is a cool cover. Ozzy still rocks as hard as he did when he was 20 too. Now enjoy the music!!
I think I was at this concert - mainly to see Reverend Glasseye, who were opening (and tragically underappreciated). While I did like this cover and two originals (Coin-operated boy and Girl anachronism), the end of the DD set literally put me to sleep...
fuckin cabaret....this really, really rocks tho. im not even a fan of this genre, but you can tell when a band just FEELS another bands music. Incendiary performance.
Can't you find enjoyment in the fact that they are having a blast covering a song they (especially and quite visibly Brian) love? I don't think they are trying to better the original but want to pay homage to Sabbath.
This song has been sung by at least 5-6 bands since the start of the Iraqi War. They never cliam it's theirs. And they also do a remake of "Pretty in Pink" which is 106 times better than the first version.
this is the first real female who has the ability to write fantastic lyrics and play there own tunes and some cover tunes in a different way than usual, but there talent and her intense ability to write is fantastic, and after seeing her on the who killed amanada palmer tour in north carolina on the 14, and being a 44 year old who has seen everyone from the led zeppelin to the cure, and from the dead to kraftwerk she is an outstanding performer and gives it all at her shows, she rocks
The Dresden Dolls music experience is like buttsex. It's definitely not for everyone, but for those who are willing to give it a try, but for the brave few who are willing to do something new, it's an experience that's completely worth dealing with the hassle for.
Ozzy was great when he created this 35 years ago. Ozzy isn't even Ozzy now, he is a reality show star and commercial pitchman. The Dresden Dolls rock more than him.
thas a bit extreme, but this does kinda murder the original song,... i mean wat the fuck? this is terrible... if theyre gna cover a song they really shouldnt pick this... i mean this is the worst song they could think of.
"Beautiful" is a relative term and subject to personal taste. Musicianship, however, is not relative. Look at the drummer, he's playing a 5 piece kit. His fills are boring. He's attracting attention because he looks like a clown without a shirt. The pianist isn't doing anything special either. They look weird, that's how they get attention. I listened to the 2 songs you mentioned. Both of them are pretty boring and not "physically demanding" at all. It's very typical of manufactured music.
