Reneka Sampson same, im only 19, but that sip of champagne during every New Years makes alcohol seem very disgusting. Plus, i would like to remember everything that happens
It's perfectly cool not to drink. It's great she doesn't give in to peer pressure like so many others who dislike it. But it's not 'cause someone doesn't drink that makes them better or superior. Each to their own.
I really appreciate how honest you are about not drinking and liking it because I can't stand any alcohol and have no idea about any drinks and it seems like society is obsessed with it (especially uni in the U.K. 😩)!Much love ❤️
I've always had this theory that the word "smut" was derived from the German word "Schmutz" which means dirt. So a smutty story would mean a "dirty" story. And that is a term that is used for explicit themes, so... But idk if I'm right.
Thank you for making me not feel so weird for not liking to drink!!! I always feel so judged!! Also on every spring break I was so sleep deprived from midterms I did nothing but sleep and lay around in my pajamas all week lol
OMG yes! As someone who doesn't drink, at a party literally everyone will keep asking if you want a drink, and then when you tell them you don't drink, there is always that moment of awkwardness where they don't know how to respond😒
Also, the not drinking at a college party tip is legit. I spent my first semester of college in London, and one time I went to a bar in Bath and wasn't drinking bc I am also a control freak and a hot Irish guy approached me and would not stop asking why I wasn't drinking. Needless to say he stopped being hot real quick and just became annoying and slightly creepy.
Also, whenever I see the Polish edition of The Call in Christine's videos, I'm like I MADE HER BUY THIS (cause I tweeted her and Kat and Jesse about it) XD
Hi Christine, I want to say that I really appreciate that you don't drink and tell us why. If I look at the people around me, the majority likes to drink and party and that's totally fine. But at a point where I say/mention/it's clear that I don't really like to drink and party, I get weird faces and comments. People don't understand that it's fine either way, if you like to party/drink or not, it's up to you. And hallelujah for your guilty pleasure reads answer! Although I also feel somewhat guilty when rereading when I see my enormous TBR pile. But then I remember that my books don't have an expiration date and I can read them whenever I feel like it.
Always felt like you were a best friend because of all your booktalk videos - all the books you liked, I ended up liking too! Then I learnt you were a Ravenclaw and I was sorted there too... then we both got Pukwudgie for the Ilvermorny quiz and that weirded me out a bit haha! Now you say you don't enjoy drinking and I don't either. *O_O*
I don't drink alcohol either, high five to you Christine! It's nice to meet someone who doesn't drink alcohol either. I thought I was the only one thinking of urine when I see beer.
This is awesome! I was laughing so hard at your confusion over what each alcoholic drink was because I'm the same way. I don't drink much and I know very little about alcohol. When I was at my cousin's wedding getting a wine, I made my sister in law pick what I was getting because I had no idea what I was talking about. This was such a fun tag with all the stories mixed in with the tag. :D
I loved this because I like wine, but I don't like overdoing alcohol or partying. I would rather much just chill and drink coffee. So you have become even more relatable and awesome than you already were
I just want to say thank you, it's always nice to find someone else (a book lover or not) who doesn't drink. They're so hard to find, especially at university as you probably know.
I had to google smut it came back with "Smutty". So it comes from "pure-hearted farmers". They called smut the mold that grows on corn ears according to the google universe it just means dirt or dirty. I love my smutty smut smut! I seriously think that everyone needs a little bit of smuttiness in their lives!!!
Oh my gosh I haven't watched your videos in a couple of months and NOW I know what's been missing from my life!!! I need to binge-watch them all right now haha
That betrayed "THERE'S NO ICED TEA IN THAT" was amazing. Also this video is super relatable because I hate the taste of 99% of all alcohols and having more than one drink makes me feel weird and I am not about it.
So true about non-drinkers and even if you DO drink, but stop drinking before your friend stops, she looks at you like WTF WHY ARE YOU STOPPING!?!? Or maybe that's just my friend.
Is it bad when I clicked the video and started watching I was "oh she's already drunk" And then I was like "oh wait it's just normal Christine" a second later.
LOL I tallied my copy of Deathly Hallows like you tallied Breaking Dawn...but I read that literally 25 times between ages 9 and like 13. I want to be ashamed of that, but I'm a little proud of little Emma
Honestly I don't like drinking either. I'm glad it's not just me. My spring break also consists of going to Disney World and hanging out with friends. I'm just as clueless with drinks as you are! Love the tag Christine!
Thanks Christine, the tip about being at parties in college will come in handy for me. I recently turned the drinking age and I'm in uni, and I'm not interested what-so-ever with drinking, all for the same reasons you listed. It's great to see somebody I relate to so much become even more inspiring for me. Not that I would judge if you did drink. It's just nice that you stick your ground. And lasted through college with similar aspirations. TL;DR: Christine is my fave.
this made me feel a lot better about not drinking. as a junior in college i get some weird looks when i say i don't like to drink, but like i just don't really like the taste. btw i think this is one of your funniest videos lol, the whole smut thing had me dying
Meriem Khatlan yea she was indecisive and annoying but she had more cute moments with the prince in the bombing action scenes with the southern and northern rebels. You’ll be happy to hear that they ended up together😂 Trust me the main character in the heir and the crown is WAY more frustrating and very rude and there were almost no scenes with America and Maxton UGHGG sorry for the rant
CHRISTINE drunk is the same as sober except even less good at making conversation cuz she can't think good and is panic-ing about whether or not she's dying XD
Totally feel the need to be in control/anxiety thing. I don't even want to be around drunk people bc they become more unpredictable xD this video was really fun and entertaining btw
its really nice to see someone else who doesnt drink! ive never actually had a full drink of alcohol (only sips here and there, all of them gross) only one i was even interested in trying was Honey Mead, and sadly (at least i thought so) i didnt like it, i SO wanted to like it
Omg I don't know if you have seen Schitt's Creek. It's on Netflix in Australia. But you sounded exactly like Alexis when you said "what a stupid construct that society has set for us." Such a funny show!!
I love Breaking Dawn so much!!! It’s my favourite book in the Twilight Saga. I liked how the wasn’t a massive fight scene because it meant none of my favourite characters died and I liked how Edward and Bella got their happily ever after literally.
I need to meet you like right now between the non drinking and the awesome obsessive book talking and the assumed to be drunk personality I’m pretty sure we would be kindred spirits
This Is too relatable. I drink, but I don't do it excessively. I go to a quiz night once a week and I'll have maybe two to three very small glasses of cider along with a crap load of food. And I've had the whole "why aren't you drinking" thing as well! Or you'll say no, they'll be like "okay one for you" and it'll just sit there because you DONT. WANT. IT.
This might be weird, but I really appreciated this video. I don't drink for the same reasons as you (and frankly I don't really have a desire) but people constantly try to make me drink (would like to point out Im only 19) and I feel like they look down on me like I'm less mature because of it, so it's really nice to see an adult I admire be confident in her choice not to drink, just because it's not her thing. Thanks Christine! Love you! (Also this video was so funny!)
I also do not drink anymore, but if I do, I like to drink white wine. You are hilarious and I always enjoy your videos! BTW the word "smut" is a type of mold found in corn and the word became interchangeable with "dirt" or "dirty" so people started using it to describe "dirty" entertainment. LOL
I remember when I met u at booksplosion last year and I told u that u should read the crown u said u would and it's been over a year now hahahahahahaha. No hate I honestly think it's hilarious
I didn't watch this video at first because I don't drink, but I'm so glad I did! I know exactly how you feel! I laughed so hard during the whole video!
Fun video! I don't drink much either, except for the extremely rare glass of wine, so it was nice to hear from someone else who is like me in that area. Thanks for the video!
It's totally cool you don't drink. I was at a uni party once and literally had the same glass of wine the entire night because I'm not really a drinker and ended up taking a friend home because I was still sober while she was super drink. My drink of choice is wine too.
I'm getting a kick out of Christine's on-the-fly research of all things alcohol as well as the etymology of the word "Smut". TBH, a few of these topics were a mystery to me as well, so the video was a learning experience as well as being fun.
I read 50 Shades and I think that would be my guilty non-pleasure. I wanted to see what the hype was about...totally over hyped and also let's call it the morning after regret during those crazy MTV Spring Break shenanigans.
I loved the fact that I'm not the only person who feels awkward at parties because I don't drink. I will totally be taking that advice about grabbing a cup and filling it with water, or soda.
i googled where the word smut came from and apparentlyyyyy: "The word smutty came from pure-hearted farmers. Really. Smut is the name of a mold that grows in corn ears. The mold breaks off into fine dirt-like powder when the corn is shucked. Therefore the word smut became synonymous with dirt, or dirty."
