One of the best tones I’ve heard in a while. Many of us could get on ur rig with ur settings and sound nothing like this. The dude is “THE DUDE” but, so much is in ur touch and and feel in ur fingers

Your tone in the intro isn't what comes to mind when I think "Dumble," but it's uber-cool anyway. Very aggressive (esp. the note attack) but smooth at the same time, with a lot of clarity for a high-gain tone. -Tom

Totally agree, just got the Dude and decided to sell my Ultraphonix, I thought the Dude Overdrive was smoother. I don't know how the lines on those knobs made it through quality control though, depending on the lighting in the room they can be unreadable.

You piqued my interest, so I had a look at the schematic for The Dude (at least a claimed schematic from a hobbiest pedal clone site). It has three stages of distorted gain in it. Two are quite similar to what's in the Barber Small Fry (a version of the Burn Unit), but in a different order. The "Ratio" control works a lot like the Barber's "Burn" control. The "Deep" control rolls off the high end feeding a final extra distortion stage. The "Volume" control isn't the usual final volume control, but instead controls the level feeding that final distortion stage. And the treble control controls the treble *after* that stage. There's also a strange stage after the first two distortion stages and before a fixed EQ stage that feeds the last distortion stage; I'd have to work out what it does-maybe another EQ stage simulating an inductor-based EQ with a gyrator? It's definitely not a run-of-the-mill overdrive pedal; J Rockett probably put a lot of experimentation into identifying all those pieces and putting them together in a way that works so well. -Tom

By the way, my go-to preset is the LitlDumble you created for pod go. it sounds kinda like an electric flute... if I lightly mute the strings... By the way, I appreciate your dedication to the guitar and the variety of tonal options you share. Thanx Johnathan.

Hello Johnathan, Thank you for making all the extremely helpful video presentations. I have a 2021 ultraluxe strat. With just the three generation 5 vintage noiseless pickups. I use fender vintage round core bullet strings on it and i have it tuned down one whole step. DGCFAD I just put that thru a mogami cable into a Boss Eband JS 10. I am trying my best to get your eric Johnson lead tone and the chorus clean tone. I understand it could be impossible. But i have only so much to work with. I work midnight security and i study your lessons and insights very sincerely. The songs you make are the only songs i am uplifted by. All your songs give me a glimmer of hope. The js10 is what i have because i have to play at a low volume but extremely high fidelity. I have earphones but it ruins my connection with the guitar. All i wish to do is have that great lead tone and i enjoy playing over back tracks. All modal fusion type songs like you. I dont have any computer. I live very simply. I am alone in the world, i have lost all my family. The guitar still gives me some joy. In the application of fusion . It makes me feel like i am flying or riding waves or even deep snow powder waves on a mountain. Thank you for all your Efforts and tremendous talent and hard work. Thank you for your abilities. The Dude is my main overdrive pedal on my pedalboard. Even if the ratio organ is cranked all the way to 11 it’s extremely articulate. If u like pedals that hide ur inconsistency don’t buy this pedal. It picks up every note and blemish. It makes play better. It’s great from blues tones to Lukather tones. I an say enough good things about it

I've got v1 version of this pedal, it has a lot more of a volume boost and he changed that in v2. I prefer v1.

Just bought one and while I do dig it, it’s not going in my board yet. The RAT and Blue Note are staying for now

I think it should be mandatory that anybody with the Dude on their board has at least 1 Creedence song on their set list.

The Simble and Wampler Euphoria do this sound. I’m picking up my Dude tomorrow, so we’ll if it’s better than the 4 Dumble pedals I have. I think it will be.

Just discovered Dumble pedals and The Dude among them. There's also The Rude :) - a Mod Audio plugin, killer Torcuato Mariano demo at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-412lHI-fNCc.html For my budget the Joyo R-02 Taichi is worth a try. In the J. Rocket league the Vertex Steel Singer is fiercely debated at thegearpage, mostly with limited love.

Brilliant playing. Fantastic tone. Always loved The Dude. Also, have you tried the Wampler Dual Fusion? Feel like there are some good Dumble tones to be found there as well.

Dumble sound? No. But it is a good overdrive pedal
