@aboutanything3456 #dukesofhazzard #80stv In this video, we will explore the 10 top moments or trademark elements from the tv show The Dukes of Hazzard, which ran on CBS from 1979-1985.
The Dukes of Hazzard has always been one of my favorite TV shows. My brother hates it but I love it. In an episode of the 2nd season, a mistake was made. On that episode, it showed Luke closing the door on the General Lee. For those who may not have watched the show, the doors on the General Lee are supposed to be welded shut.
just those couple of scenes in the Bo and Luke return. As much as I didnt like Coy and Vance, it would have been nice if they said the entire episode or had some roles in the reunions
OK. But, What would they be driving? Bo and Luke driving the General Lee. Daisy in her Jeep. What would Coy and Vance be in? Jesse's pickup? What about the others? They couldn't borrow a county police car, or Boss Hogg's Car. They would have to find their own car or truck. So, I'm not sure that would have worked.
I know you listed Coy and Vance as a low mark but you have to remember Byron Cherry and Christopher Mayer were kind of tasked with a difficult job to do. They were replacing two very popular guys and like replacing coaching legends, you never want to be the guy that replaces the guy. Like a lot of fans I always gave into the negative view of Coy and Vance but after watching that season recently on DVD I actually think both guys did a great job and were just starting to get their wheels under them when John Schneider and Tom Wopat returned. I don’t know if they always knew the potential was there of John and Tom returning but if so that made their efforts that much more admirable because they didn’t phone their work in. It’s unfortunate they were stuck with being looked down on for years but it’s cool to see Byron being included in Dukes events representing their time and it’s unfortunate we lost Christopher Mayer a few years ago. They were two guys who got an incredible but short lived break and I certainly appreciate what they did.
Here's a fun fact.... John Schneider and Byron Cherry both auditioned for Bo. Of course, John got the part, but he and Byron became friends and still are to this day.
You made a mistake with the first General Lee Jump. The show opens with them jumping the General while chasing Cooter in the police car. Happened well before the jump you mentioned and was used in the opening credit for the rest of season one. I always found it cheap that they used the same “stock footage” Jump from Season One for the flashback episode.
Just to note that in Season 1: Episode 2: Daisy's Song. The hood slide was kind of a mistake as Tom Wopat (Luke Duke) meant to kind of run over top of the hood. But instead he slipped and ended up doing the famous hood slide. Also when he did it, he caught the antenna and cut his arm. If you listen to the clip real carefully, you will hear Luke say "ow" as he injured his arm. So thus from that point on the antenna was removed from every Charger because of that hood slide injury. I am kind of surprised you didn't talk about the great roof slide that Bo Duke did in an episode when they escaped from jail. Off the top of my head I can't remember which one it was. lol Yeeh Haaaaawwwww!!!
Love the idea and the list, here is how my list would look off the top of my head (been a while since I watched the all) That being said, he would be my top 10 moments/Episodes 10. Daisy in her Bikini (Episode 1), not only for the fact, that locked in the male audience, Catherine Bach was known to make her own outfits for the shah and made that Bikini. Iconic scene and used in the opening. 9. Bo and Luke Fight, well, it is always interesting when the two main characters of any story go at it. 8. The First Aired Jump of the General Lee. 7. The CB Handles, while they were all over the place sometime used sometime not, sometimes it was it was Lost sheep calling Sheppard, then it was Uncle Jessie this is Luke, but still cool for the show and the era it was in. 6. The Boys trying to get Uncle Jessie into the General and him saying “Not for ME’ when Luke was welding the door in the Birthday Episode. 5. Ghost of the General Lee, when the boys made it look like the Duke Boys were haunting him after he suspected the drowned. 4. Bo and Luke’s return after the Contract dispute 3. Bo and Luke Drive Daisy’s Yellow Road Runner off and cliff, only to then have Daisy receive her Iconic Jeep that original had “Dixie on the Door but then in later episodes the doors were removed and the Dixie was painted on the side of the Jeeps Hood. 2. The “First Jump” of the General Lee Probably one of the Greatest Stunt Jumps of it’s time. The footage was used in other episodes as well and the end credits of the show. 1. The General Lee!!! Let's be honest, that is what the show was about the car, that’s what make the “Happy Birthday General Lee” the number 1 ranks episode of the Series. (drive me nuts they call is OH one and not Zero one. It is two numbers and not letter and number.) but the meaning is, the color, and the name are all priceless. In regards to the Coy and Vance as well and Celebrate Speed Traps moments, they would be “Jump the Shark” moments that would mentioned at the end of the Top 10.
It would have been good if Coy and Vance could have stayed for the entire episode when Bo & Luke returned, it would have been cool to have all of the Duke family helping Cooter with the balloon payment on his garage, and maybe have Jen Stuart Duke return as well
I know. I met Ben on one of those tent meet and greets: 1guy/girl at one tent. Ben at one tent. Ermey at one tent. Someone else at another. And you could get their autograph.
Well, I guessing after 40 years it may be time to stop and actually open the freaking door lol. Pretty sure i couldnt lift myself off the ground to get in the window any more
As an older teenage boy, I spent plenty of time drooling over Catherine ! If I'm being totally honest, at 65, I still do ! She started a lifelong addiction to long beautiful legs ! Definitely has something to do with my wife who is 6ft. tall, and gorgeous sexy long legs ! And got me in plenty of trouble as a young man drooling over a young lady who had sexy long legs just a little bit too long before diverting my eyes ! One of those things that I learned to be more polite about over the years !
My Dad was BIG w/CB's... EVERY vehicle & the House... my Uncle up the road had one. Soon as my brother brought home His first car.. Dad was puttin a CB in IT too! lol
@@aboutanything3456 1. Install the antennas correctly... (placing it on the back of your car)? 2. make sure to coordinate channels... other than 19 & 7? 3. Good brand CB?...we used Cobra (THAT 1 Lit Up like a Christmas tree!)..He Always put THAT 1 in what ever Mom was drivin (I think b/c it was The Best One) & the other 1 started with an M????? (it was a brand out of Texas) (His truck). We lived outside of town bout 8 miles...but reached round bout 15 at least. 3. AND THEN... there's the Squelch knob! THAT could have been your problem if that wasn't tuned right. U Could, have had each other squelched out.
Different networks, but I agree, that would have been a great episode. Many 80s shows could have crossed over well like "The Fall Guy" "Hardcastle and McCormick" B J and The Bear Airwolf" and of course, "The A Team". Thank goodness for fanfiction. BTW, there's an excellent DOH/KR crossover fic called "A Knight in Hazzard"
Yeah, Coy and Vance weren't the low point for the show. Horrible plastic models replacing real car stunts or the episode where an Alien from outer space visited the farm during Season 7 were way worse.
One more sene. Season 2 episode 8. The smuggling ring. Towards the end of the episode when Luke takes the slammer car and uses it against the smugglers. At one point it looks like Luke is crashing the smugglers with the general lee. Then it breaks back to the slammer car.
Of course. Season 3 episode 17, "Along came a Duke". The Stonewall Jackson sword episode! Almost made the top 10 but with the Luke's brother instead. Good one Thomas!
Fun fact in the intro of the first season that’s not Waylon Jennings playing the guitar. I don’t know if this is true but it’s a possibility it’s Tom Wopat
Another episode. The ppls choice. Emery potter forgot to vote Jessie caps Bo and Luke on the cb. But Jessie actually calls on the phone while the duke boys talk on the cb in the general lee
Hold on! That last jump in your video (also technically their "first jump" from a flashback episode in their final season, was also used on in the Cale Yarborough episode from I believe in Season 2. I guess by the final season, they just reused jump clips knowing it was their last season why bother, and save some money.
I don't remember the Oak Ridge Boys being there. When was that? I remember Waylon being there. I think Mickey Gilley was there once. I know Tammy was there because I saw that clip.
yeah, we had choices with the "celebrity speed trap". i remember Loretta Lynn being on as she was my dad's favorite. Oh he was proud to be a Coal Minor's daughter fan.
I believe they were used becasue many different brands of cars fell under the Mopar Umbrella including and not limited to Dodge and Jeep. Also Mopar at the time was know for Muscle Cars. That's my guess.
Not a 100 percent true statement Daisy had a Jeep after season 2 episode “Runaway” Uncle Jessie’s Truck was a Ford f-100 I believe The various Cooter Tow-trucks were Fords, Chevy, and GMC The Police Cars were Dodge and one time then became AMC, and Plymouths Boss Hogg has a Cadillac So not 100 percent Dodge but pretty close.
The stunt crew liked using Mopars, because of the Torsion bar front suspensions. They could crank the bars up for jumps, and didn't have to worry about springs flying out on landings, wrecking the shot.
