The first rule of Dumaguete Fight Club is "Everybody talks about Fight Club" So here is my take on the latest shenanigans. If you haven't seen the video I'm referring to, this is the link • Video
Marks comments on his RU-vid channel are going to bite him in the ass. I was trying to tell him as he was blabbing away but he kept digging the hole deeper and deeper.
Ground Zero should take the opportunity to cash in and start monthly ex pat boxing matches, if it takes off they can move around the corner on to the boulevard 😊
@@JulienSorelEatsSabras I'm from the US and know what you mean but neither of these guys are bums. Mark has a lot of money and that other guy is very rich. But I get your meaning. That's not to say there aren't poor expats here as well, that get into fights at the bars. They just don't make videos about it.
These men are 50+. Very, very strange behavior. That video by that Mark dude was like an attempt to provide evidence to the RU-vid jury. I heard it referred to as Dramaguete, now I can see why.
Remember Mark was booted out of the army for getting into fights. Then he worked on so many different cruise ships and cruise companies, it makes you question as to why he couldn't hold a job long term. Maybe he has anger management issues, and gets into fights a little too often ??
His described behavior while a guest in a foreign country is ridiculous. That shit could easily land you in lockup or deported in a large percentage of the civilized world.
@@charliejackson6192 Not in Blue states. And the incarceration rates we have are due to a lack of accountability thru all stages of life, and being soft on crime/criminals. We don’t lock up enough people that “need to be locked up”
It'll be like the Jets and the Sharks over in Dumaguete right now. Both gangs huddling together in opposite corners of ground zero, plotting their revenge RU-vid videos over pumpkin spiced lattes 😂. Small fish in a small pond. Probably your best video yet m8, 100% common sense yet piss funny 😂😂😂😂
when my daughter was 5 years old and watched west side story she asked me " if these guys are. so tough why are they dancing around like ballerinas ?" i pose the same question to Mark
Been an expat for 15 years. My first time was in Athens 2010-2013 and there was a toxic group of expats there all gossiping and fighting. The whole dumuguette thing reminds me of that. Happily since then I've not really lived in expat places. Will be moving to my wife's province next year in Ilocos Sur which is as far from the expat scene imaginable.
It's always the same old problem. Ex-pats with unrealistic expectations of living grand on tiny amounts of money, who don't assimilate to their new environment and have no plan to do anything with their time. They sit in cafe's and bars all day with nothing to do but gossip like children. These guys were losers in their home countries, and they are losers in the Philippines. It is shameful.
Mark was way out of line from what I've seen. He's left himself in a very vulnerable position. It's a shame that he didn't choose to distance himself from a bad situation.
What would you do if you had numerous vloggers stating in the community and online that your wife and sister-in-law were whor.s and the girls were pimps selling their children to Expats. Making statements that the marriages were transactional. The one who started this was Justin the huge Critter because he was upset about his attempts to get loans.
I have been to a few of the so called "Expat Hotspots" the last several years. Georgous places, wonderful people. But as soon as they are popular they are ruined for me by expats. Hordes of people who do not fit in and never intend to. People who take and never thin about giving. I want to one, nameless, found an American lady there who was involved in the community. She ran a thrift shop with the proceeds going to feed undernourished families. She also had a weekly trauma group. So different from most of the other expats I saw sitting in bars and coffee shops bad mouthing everything and doing nothing with their lives. Mover back to Florida!
It's a mistake to take a "no smoke without fire" approach to trolls. There are many vile and nasty people who live for trolling You Tubers, and what they don't know they make up. Some are simply psychologically unstable and sad acts, unfortunately.
Apparently, the guy Mark beat up was a handicapped person. Mark failed to mention this in his video. He made it appear as though he was some sort of brave tough guy. The facts tell a different story.
Absolutely Brilliant vlog echos my sentiments entirely. Cherry pick my expat friends and never mix in expat circles. The handbags incident at ground zero endorses my choice. As for the trolls just a bunch of low life arseoles with too much time on their hands. Take care Jim
I can never wrap my head around the whole duma thing I have heard that there is a bunch of fake alpha man bullshit the whole thing. It really re-enforces my thought of going to another city that does not have too many expats. Great video mate as always
Simon, Again excellent , open , to the point , candid, ubiased dialogue. Plus your usual entertaining edge.... As someone who has been as X pat for over 40 yrs... i agree with you on staying away from other xpats in general, otherwise why the heck be overseas.... Plus yes they're an awful lot of apparent sick puppies out there in this world, call em bullies , trolls or whatever. School play time stuff... You have law enforcement experience so youve seen it time n time again... Yup some crazy / laughable stuff that one just cant take seriously nor get involved with... Anyhow in closing thx for the video.. Cheers Glenn
A lot of expats bring a lot of baggage with them, and as an apolitical USAn, I don't have a lot in common with most. The two American expats I friended in my complex both asked to borrow money and/or wanted to sell me something overpriced. One also drank too much. Not a very good experience, so far. One guy I was closer to moved away. So, generally, I now prefer to keep to myself.
I was hit to the head once & suffered a blood clot to the brain, resulting in full blown stroke symptoms/aphasia & a secondary blood clot. Expats fighting, you'd think people grow up over time...apparently not. It's nothing but pathetic & immature.
@@SpeakingofAsia At the time, I was trying to talk & defuse a situation between others & ended up in hospital. Nothing could be done, other than being linked upto allsorts of medical instruments & monitored. Fortunately over the day I recovered but only because the blood found smaller vessels to get to that part of my brain, I was told. Though was told I would probably experience the same again, which I did. All I can say is, feeling like you're cabaged & will never recover is frightening beyond belief...all because of a blow to the head. Since I totally remove myself from any kind of people that show any signs of being trouble. Mostly drunken expats. The guy who did what he did to me got 10months imprisonment.
“To be honest…. The main reason I am doing this video”….. is for clicks ….. (there I fixed it for you) 😮 No worries, the main reason I watched was….. the topic…… of the Rumble in the jungle
From what I understand dex has some coin in the bank. Mark should have made a vid apologizing for beating down a smaller disable man. Instead he kind of bragged about it and admitted he did that. It’s all up to Dexter now. Money talks!!
'Arseholes' and 'keyboard warriors' seem to abound on the expat RU-vid Philippines network. I don't know expats and that suits me fine. I don't live near any expats. I just watch the channels and maybe get a bit of insight every now and then. Normally it just provides me with amusement. I live a comfortable family life, walking the dogs, watering the garden and having a few beers while catching a bit of sport every now and then. I have the coincidence of Mens Rea and Actus Reus that allows me to sit back and chill out and that suits me just fine (until the missus gets pissed off).
@@SpeakingofAsia be careful , Mark is eliminating all the people he feels are a threat . Your on the list because you know his secrets Please be careful , 🙏
When Mark brings the DNA report for his baby trying to get SS the repoet will day 30 percent Filipino ,20 percenr spanish , 50 percent sub saharan east African
Dramaguete is a nice place, but totally spoilt with all the immature expat school children. I lasted 48hours & had seen enough of their childish behaviour. Never again.
Wow, Dramaguette sounds like being back at school with people slagging each other off and fights. They're acting like bloody school kids ! Better off out of it
Mark set his sister inlaw up with the guy Stephen so he could help with the. burden of Jens lazy family . Stephen pays the family 175 a month and pays Mark 50 a month
@SpeakingofAsia well I don't class the wife and family as friends ! Haha. What i meant is i dont have expat or Filipino friends, acquaintances and mates, but no friends.
That crap about buying a cruise ship really opened my eyes as to who Mark really was. Even an idiot wouldn't fall for that BS. He supposedly rain the entertainment portion on some cruise line and now wants investors to pony up millions to refurbish a ship and sail around the Philippines . People like him just give other expats a bad name.
If my wife and I move to the Philippines I will totally avoid meeting with groups of expats. I have no interest in hanging around the people I left behind to move to a new country with new people, especially if the people I left behind are complaining, quarreling and fighting, as a bunch of low-lifes. Would this not be a slap in the face to Filipinos, that Americans or Europeans come to their country and do not assimilate? Or do they think they are better than Filipinos? The best way to acclimate to a new country is to mingle with the locals, make friends, and by all means be humble instead of being an American know-it-all.
Coronation street & eastender’s in the mix🤣. I run a mile from people like these individuals. Egotistical Drama Queens!. Best wishes with your new life in the Philippines 👌.
first rule of Fight Club is.....................broadcast it all over the internet 😂. actually, this should be come a regular feature, sell tickets, teach about western macho culture, and resolve grudges.........would be a big draw among the locals too, I presume. maybe can even get Manny to attend!
Could you tone down the accent a little bit? I cannot understand but 30% of what is coming out of your mouth, but I would like to understand what you are saying. English is my native language, and I am guessing that it is yours, too. So, could you meet us in the middle on annunciation? Cheers.
I do find his accent grates on me but anyone born the UK should be able to understand 100% of what he is saying .But to ask him to change the way he speaks is asking too much of someone. His accent helps to define who he is and he is probably proud of his Cockney upbringing
Relate: My wife and I have a house 3 hours north of Manila and a apt by the beach 2 hours north of that. I don't hang out with the Ex-pats that I surf with and actually find it easier to just have locals for neighbors to count on. No clicks at the local for me, just might need help from the locals more likely. Fact. People are great if ya treat them the same.
If I were you and based on your comments, I would request that Mark Thornton remove the interview videos and you should as well. Any further relationship with Thornton will discredit you.
I'm now hearing some really beyond the pale speculation that the REAL reason for this dust up is that the baby due any day now apparently isn't his. Totally uncalled for, and if it comes out with boxing gloves on we'll know for sure its Mark's.
When it comes to asking what religion a person is or asks political questions. Just rely, it doesn't matter. Somethings will always matter to one and absolutely doesn't matter to the other Being a Sigma-male. I enjoy being alone, even if I go out or in a group.
Why I avoid xpats. living in Thailand for 7 years.I just heard about this ridiculous BS.I have loads of the Toxic *"*"# where I live in the South of Thailand.Avoid,avoid,avoid.Will be visiting Sig soon. Will buy u a beer,if your up for it m8.
Seriously, who would want to live in Drama-Ghetto\ I watched Thorton video with Steve. Talk about a staged video. He was leading Steve for answers. Next, his video on the "event". He described it proudly of how he was the victor. WTF No one is winner when "matured age men" talk about winning or loosing a "fight". To me, his whole demeanor makes HIM THE LOSER in my books. Like you said, he may be hanging himself with his comemntary on how he attacked Dexter. Im hoping ge becomes Persona Non Grata and is kicked out. There seems to be far too much smoke around this guy.
Reminds me school yard with bored & idle kids.. picking on the each other till a fight develops. No different.. just 40+ years later, once a Boof head always a Boof head.
Honestly it's just embarrassing it really is. I understand the latest is that Ground ( & Pound) Zero have actually banned him in writing from the premises. In the UFC septegenarian division Mark - you're cruisin' for a bruisin - Thornton may be undefeated currently, but with quadruple bypass surgery it's father time that's his real opponent so getting involved in fist fights at his age is just ridiculous. And his opponent seems pretty old a frail too. It's osteoarthritis v hip replacement - let's get ready to cruuuumble!!
@@SpeakingofAsia Cheers! In fairness I do quite like Mark's channel so I hope he doesn't end up in the monkey house. As it's known coloquially in Thailand, not sure about the Philippines- eg during scintillating conversation with a Thai bar girl : Q - what happened to that brother you said you had ? A - he go stay monkey Howe. Anyway hopefully Mark can avoid that, otherwise he'll need to rename the channel Everyman has a shank 😬
I used to watch the Wizard of Oz as a kid and think "how can someone speak if they don't have a brain?" But then I discovered Facebook and RU-vid, and well - here we are.... (speaking about the trolls).
Boredom and unhappiness, homesickness - but they won't admit it, even to themselves. Forced to make 'friends' of people they would avoid like the plague back home. The realisation that having burnt their bridges and most of their money and are in reality are marooned in far away land with no chance of going back because the majority of them are simply too old to make a fresh start....
I see situations like this to be similar to a Teacher suspending two kids for fighting, not because both kids are misfits but because that teacher can't be bothered to figure out what really happened and who started it. In reality, one of those kids probably attacked the other, in many cases simply because they are an asshole bully, and the other had no choice but to defend themself. In this case, these guys are grown adults, but there's still a decent chance one of them was just an asshole bully and the other one was just defending themself so to speak, and yet both groups are getting "punished" by way of reputational harm, which is unfortunate. This is why I kinda understand taking sides here, it's like being a teacher that actually takes the time to figure out what happened between the two fighting kids, so they only punish the bully and not the poor kid that was getting bullied. Regardless I also understand just saying screw it to the whole mess and moving on with your life, especially if you weren't involved in any way and if you don't much interact with the people involved either. Personally I understand why some expats would want to hang out with other expats, but it sucks when a couple bad apples can spoil the whole bunch.
There’s a great video made by the bare knuckle, Boxer, Danny Christie he says in a video about a year ago as I remember about trolls. He said anyone who makes twisted nasty comments like the ones you’re talking about. Cannot have anything good going on in their life. I really think that is a brilliant way of seeing these comments. When ever anybody makes comment which is obviously intended to get under my skin, I just brush it off and think what kind of life could you possibly have to actually need to write that down because it’s not a life that I would ever swap places with
Relatively few English men speak like him -he has a very broad London Cockney accent. For a small country England has a quite a large number of regional accents.@@garolstipock
Just an idea for future vlogs maybe if you’re inclined. Travel info best cheapest routes from Uk direct, lay overs, times of year. Advance or last minute. Flights/ferries/trains? within PI . towards where you are. Weather seasons. High mid low tourist seasons. Good idea to stay out of the drama.
Reminds me of America 🇺🇸. Ill be sure to stay away from those groups if I retire there one day. All I want to do is drink my coffee ☕ and travel with my wife.
is it always SOO FUCKING WINDY there? every single video I see lately the trees are RIPPING! Like gale force winds 30kph. makes it terrible for road cycling.
Not always mate but it can be at times. Forsome reason the windiest days here always seem to be on the days that I'm vlogging 😂 it really screws the audio up 😒
RMP was more hated i feel than RAF police. Everytime I saw RAF police they just looked like airport security. Going through my dirty washing on a flight out of country looking for knives, guns, ammo and war trophies they could nick for themselves 😂😂😂😂😂
Congratulations on jumping on the "click bait" train, i hope you gain some additional subscribers. I think it is as you say it is better you avoid the drama but it is better not to associate with people you don't know well.
You're a very wise young man, & a clear thinker, you do a fantastic job of expressing your ideas, I have a lot of respect for you. I agree prejudices towards sexuality is such a sad & ugly thing, why can't we just all get along & show love to each other? I'm straight but who cares, it shouldn't be something people declare, either way, just be yourself & treat everyone with dignity, plus stay away from disloyal mean people & liars. My guess is the negative comments about Mark Thornton come from jealousy. I wouldn't want to be his friend, but if I met him I'd give him a fair shot, I wouldn't assume negative about him or anyone, even if I had heard bad things.
But is it really English that you speak ? If you can't understand a London accent, there was no slang, then I'm guessing you speak a language derived from English, and not actual English.
So how are you going to function without your dry out times in Duma?? Just asking. Moving over and on the way there now. Not getting in the middle of all the bullshit. I think folks get bored and stir shit up.
