I love your overgrown orchard! Its absolutely great and the animals thank you. A friend of my daughter and SIL came up to Indiana from Alabama. He dumpster dives in Bama and decided to give it a go up here. A cop stopped him and told him it was illegal to dumpster dive in Indiana and he would end up doing jail time if he continued. Of course I started laughing and told the friend that the cop was an idiot because its legal in all 50 states to dumpster dive. I explained about private property signs and to leave if he was told too. ☺

The cop told him it was illegal to DD in the state of Indiana. Also, there is no ordinance in this town that prohibits DD. I think the cop saw out of state plates on this guy's car and decided to swing his "billy club".

I have always kept a wild area in my backyard. Possum, racoons, squirrels and an occasional deer. So glad you do too.

You might want to keep an eye on your cats if you have raccoons and foxes in your “back forty.” We lived in town also and had issues with some of the wildlife and our pets. Also, ground hogs can be very destructive!

Amy your back 40 could’ve turned into an oasis. Put your walkway in and maybe a small pond - animals would love that. Then a small bench for relaxing. It can still be overgrown but beautiful! Add some flowers and there you go. A little respite for you and the animals. Love your videos and seeing all your family ❤

Funny story but a true one,I'm a 911 dispatcher and I get a call from a lady saying she saw a dog hurt on the highway so she picked it up to take it to the emergency vet,she don't want to go to Memphis alone so she calls her daughter to come and go with her,her daughter gets there and and says Mom that is not a dog,it's a coyote 😮4 police officers later they got it out of her car cause they couldn't get it out..This was last week🤔😂😂😂

I live in a smallish city and my back yard looks just like that! It used to have grass that I had to mow but somehow a billion trees planted themselves out there. I ALSO have raccoons and possums and ground hogs and skunks and feral kitties. I love it but I'm sure at some point the city will be bugging me about it. It's a real oasis in the city. Good for you guys and YOUR wildlife oasis!

You need to net the trees or at least a few of the limbs so you can get some of that fruit. All the onion bags one gets from the dumpster could be tied over a limb or two.

What a great idea to keep it for the animals. If you find a trail cam, it would be fun it set up to record the animals at night. We did that because something was pooping by our back gate at night, and we were curious as to what it was. It was a big nutria.

What you "need" in and among your more forested area are a little chair and table for some physically cooler reading in the summer. As you find lesser onions, consider planting them in and about the forested area as soil conditioners, ornamental, natural pest control, and to squeeze out a few of those weeds. Just let them grow and multiply, flower to create bee and pollinator food, and live life on thier own; or become compost. You might also consider pulling just eniugh weeds for scattering some radish seeds when the drought season gets done.
