17:07 I am so overjoyed that Space Hulk made your top 50 list!!!! This is one of my all-time favorite board games. I love the theme, simplicity, tactical planning, nail-biting tension and brutal outcomes. The timer and the blip tokens are such simple, but elegantly effective game mechanics that add so much to the game. My only negative is the somewhat time-consuming set-up and tear down. I own the 2nd edition and 3rd editions, and I have every intention of giving these games to my son when he is old enough to enjoy them. ; )

I was upset with the placement of Dungeon Universalis. This game is the one that gets better because it is a longer game. You have to creep slowly through the dungeon destroying everyones plans for later in the day. Thanks for keeping it real.
Thanks for part 2 of your list. Regarding the long vs short games, at least for me, I want a game that can be consumed in shorter segments but has a longer narrative adventure. For example, something that I can play maybe a chapter in one to two hours, but maybe the whole game is 20 chapters strung together into a longer game like a book. The key being the ability to save and then pick up where you left off fairly easily. Sometimes for many games the setup and tear down is enough to make me not want to play. I feel that GW is missing a big opportunity not release Space Hulk 4e again. I see the ebay prices in the $300 to $400 range and I have had people offer me that much for my personal copy. I also feel that GW does things just short of amazing, and then gets bored and moves on to something else like they have with Warhammer Quest, Blackstone Fortress, Cursed City, Space Hulk and others I am sure I am missing.

I'm so glad that you appreciated the diversity in 'Legacy of Dragonholt' from Nikki Valens. The game has been one of the most captivating experiences for me, and diversity should be a matter of course, also in fantasy.
I would 100% watch the comparison video you mentioned. I am absolutely in love with adventure/campaign dungeoncrawlers where I get that RPG feeling in a product with less time investment than a game like D&D or my beloved Chronicles of Darkness, so knowing what other folks with more experience in the games than I have think. I probably wouldn't have spent a ton of money on something like Shadows of Brimstone Adventures and instead spent that same money on the OG versions. I agree with your opinions on Aftermath, my wife and I played it on vacation last year and it's so cute and fun all the way through. Be warned however that when you get to the end, it just kind of stops with some MAJOR plot threads left unresolved and big areas don't appear in the book. I really hope they make an expansion soon. I also started my love of these kinds of games with Space Hulk 1e back in the day. We used to also play a lot of 40k and Necromunda and we would blend all the games together for some pretty fun battles. I'm glad I stumbled across your channel looking up Brimstone stuff a couple weeks ago. Your conversational hangout vibe is really inviting.
Totally on the same page as you with Mini Rogue! Folklore the Affliction is a weird one for me. If I judged the game purely from board game mechanics, it would be a very medoicre game. But I appreciate what it tries to do which is legitamitely try to offer a RPG experience without a GM. The setting, the travel and rumor decks, and yes even all the die rolling (it is an old school rpg) add up to a really solid experience and I'm glad that I have it in my collection and I do have a lot love for it. Agreed that the intiative tracker is a must. I also really like the town events deck from the expansion. The combination of travel and town event decks with the very scripted scenarios makes for an intersting convergence of emergent narrative and written narrative. My one wish is that there would be some kind of random dungeon crawl module with a dungeon encoutner deck that you could play like a side quest from the rumor deck but could be repeated as much as you want.
I asked Mr. Bistro recently about a Dungeon Run reprint, he said if he did rerelease it it'd be as a revamped 2nd edition because he has a lot of changes he'd like to make but isn't sure when/if he'll be able to get to it.
I often wonder why more developers don’t release finished expansions as POD content. Runebound 3e has a finished expansion that would even out the skill decks with a 3rd red deck, but it was never released.
I've watched, and thoroughly enjoyed, your channel for a little while now but I've heard or read the straight white male comment a few times now. I hope you done pigeonhole me as the category of person you reference but I want to be honest and say it makes me want to watch your channel less. I only say that because otherwise I really do enjoy listening to your opinions on games and the sense of discovery I get from seeing you discuss games I've never heard of. @@TheDungeonDive @The Dungeon Dive I don't have any problems with diverse opinions or cultures. Talking about that is distinctly different from comments on straightness, whiteness, or maleness. You don't have to push certain people down so others can rise. I wish that didn't have to be said but it seems more commonplace today than ever.
Loved playing through Legacy of Dragonholt. The ending felt slightly iffy as you have to do things well to get a good ending. Otherwise you get a mehh ending (and there is a bad one I think)
As to the question of diversity, what are your thoughts about a Greek themed game I am working on where all the playable characters are male Greek heroes. In that instance is it something that bothers you or are you understanding that it's just the way it is is concerning those stories. Granted I could always add playable female heroes such as Atalanta or Hippolyta but they aren't exactly known for their dungeon diving heroic exploits as compared to Heracles or Perseus, etc.
I will always side with diversity and more of it, unless you’re making a game that absolutely relies on some kind of historic accuracy. If there is any fantasy at all, pretend there is diversity as part of that fantasy. It’s super important.
Nothing personal but I'm so tired of folks complaining about campaign games. You don't need to know everything that went before. Just play a session for goddess' sake and enjoy it for what it is. I do it all the time and I LOVE campaign games. I wish ALL games were campaign games.
I’ll go deeper into this topic at some point. I have a ton of issues with just picking a scenario from a campaign and playing it as a one off. That way lies total disconnect for me.

Curious.. Who was pissed off about the characters in Legacy of DragonHolt? - I don't know one person that complained about that in the game, or even recall reading anything on BGG or otherwise about it. weird.
