Tanner McKee looked like he been in the league for like 4 plus years. Dude is a stud. I ain’t gonna hold u I’m rolling with him god forbid something happen to hurts. He can at least stay in the pocket and hit guys. Ngata looking like aj brown
Watched the livestream with you and Josh. We all saw how bad Pickett and Bradberry were. We cannot have either of these guys playing minutes on this team. Keep up the great work. Go Birds.
While Picket and McKee played behind the same line they didn't play against the same defenses. I like McKee as much as the next guy but we have to be honest on all fronts.
McKee played the scrubs both of these games. Not gonna lie and say i like pickett either but let's slow the role on Mckee..i say we look outside the building for a backup, neither of them excite me
@@RedPillRooster Fair point. Doesn't change the fact that Pickett looks really bad. It especially looks bad considering the Eagles sheltered Pickett with 5 yard check downs in order to inflate his numbers.......so they can trade him.
@@ryansolomon3732 He isn't going to Nick Foles us to a SB victory but 24 NFL starts, 2 years of team control and a minimal contract on a backup QB is hard to come by. I'm sure they think they can get him closer to his potential with coaching. No matter how great or poor one or the other looks in preseason action I think it comes back to the 24 NFL starts. Let's hope neither need to play a down all year but if Hurts goes down it's going to be Kenny's job to lose. I don't think they'll have a long leash on him but it only makes sense to go with the experience.
Pickett's post game interview should have went like this "I played like absolute trash, so much so that I am relinquishing the back up position to Tanner McKee, who is clearly a better choice".
Backup - but you HAVE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE 1st vs 2nd & 3rd team defenses that each backup QB faced respectively, so the fact that Picket didn’t look as good was largely a function of the talent each faced.
Actually, McKee was facing 2's at the start of his series, but then was up against 3's. Pickett, on the other hand, looks bad against 2's and would probably still look bad against 3's. Now is it because of them just trying to do certain things to get a look at certain players at certain positions, and the plays they were calling had an effect on the Pickett's play because the opposing defensive play that was called ended up busting up the "go to" read. For example, on the one play in one video I saw, it was supposed to be a screen pass to the RB. However, the defense had that covered. Pickett looked like he was thinking, "NOW what the F**k do I do!!" 😂😂 Quickly realized there was a blitz coming, didn't see a WIDE OPEN WR along the left side line about 20 to 25 yards down field, tucked the ball tried to step up into the pocket then saw another Eagle player flash across the middle of the field, was going to try to throw the ball to him, but pulled the ball down took another step to his left and took a sack! I don't know if he thought that a defender would have picked the pass off or what. But from the angle of the video, there was a CLEAR path to the receiver crossing the middle from left to right, about 10 to 15 yards down field. McKee was throwing the ball into tight windows!! The one that comes to mind is the one to Ngata along the sideline with a defender on him, and McKee puts the ball right on his hands!!
@@matthewgroff433 I literally said that. Pickett played almost exclusively the 1st team, whereas McKee faced the 2nd & 3rd teams. I didn’t mention what they were working on b/c that’s an assumption; it can be educated, but it’s still an assumption. But the unquestionable, objective fact is that Pickett played a much more talented set of players w/o any (beyond Beckton’s 2 series) starters on offense. It’s impossible to do anything when the first team defense is in the backfield immediately against good-BACK-UP players, so what they were “working on” is entirely affected by that simple fact. Then as the level of competition began to even out, & then swing in the Eagles’ favor as their 3rds are much better than the Patriots’, it became a completely different evaluation & requirement of talent. That’s all I said; it was in a much more concise manner. A majority are crowning McKee as their 2nd w/o acknowledging the facts of competition played against & talent played w/ (against said competition).
I was there last night. They CLEARLY trust Tanner more than Picket they just don’t want to give up because of the 3rd round pick they gave away. Picket had a lot of screens where Tanner was actually pushing the ball down the field.
I don’t know who’ll be QB 2. But I’ll say this on behalf of Pickett. He was up against patriots 1’s. That said Kenny also struggled with many of the pats’ backups while Tanner on the other hand played well against those backups with the same o-line that Kenny had. But it’s preseason so I don’t really know at the end of the day.
Kenny holds the ball too long. He wants the receivers to have big cushions before he throws. Fixable?, yeah. How long will it take?, depends on Kenny and the QBS coaches. On the other hand, Tanner was hitting guys at their break points.
Thank you! Don’t get me wrong giving anything up for Pickett was idiotic, but a 3rd for a 4th round pick swap is not enough draft capital to stubbornly place a clearly inferior player over a better one on the depth chart.
#EAGLES#THOMAS# Welcome back Thomas, & yes I've been alerting that the Patriots gave the Eagles all they could handle in Thursdays preseason game & reminded me of the 2023 preseason opener in New England. Eagles 25 Patriots 20. I'm glad we won. But I don't care for K Pickett I think we along with the Steelers Over-drafted him. I also recall you praising the Kenny Pickett trade. Thanx, Frank Gur-nick😎😎😎
Backup!!!!! Tanner looks so good I want to see him with the 2s vs 2s but eagles won’t do it bc I feel like they want to trade him and making him qb3 will dramatically lower his value
Since the Eagles scrimmaged the Pats before the game, my bet they got the work they need. I'd like to see the offensive starters get a series in, but okay resting if it's a sloppy field.
They need to hold on to pick it and continue to talk like they were impressed with him so that in the season when somebody needs a quarterback because of injury they can maximize his trade value.
I remember when you and Josh were hyping up the Kenny Pickett trade because he was a 1st round draft pick and had experience as a starter...Like that means anything lol You're downplaying Trotters play, he missed multiple tackles in the backfield and in the open field...he played very poorly. Ringo got burnt on multiple occasions, Rodgers didn't look great either (he hasn't really looked good these past 2 games). If it wasn't for poor throws by Maye and Brissett, we'd be talking about them A LOT more...Secondary got lucky.
You’re 100% correct… we need the starters to get some reps together before the season. Sirianni needs to start listening to his coordinators Who, from what I’ve heard, have wanted more practices and more preseason reps with the first team. I think we’ve all seen the results last year when it came to Siri’s philosophy of practice and preseason. I understand injuries are always a concern, but the same goes for every other team in the league and the majority of those teams give their starters a couple reps in preseason. We don’t expect them to go out and play an entire quarter or anything like that but it’s important to start the season by hitting the ground running . We haven’t even started the season yet and I’m seeing some of Nick’s old tendencies creeping up already. He needs to trust the coordinators since both of them have way more experienced than him and may know what they’re talking about. Sirianni‘s ego is not his amigo!
While I agree that the front office likely won't get rid of Pickett so easily, the Eagles didn't "give up" a 3rd for Pickett. They swapped a 2024 3rd for a 2024 4th to move down from 98 to 120 (not a huge difference in value at that point in the draft) and gave up two 2025 7th rounders. That's a bargain-bin-at-a-clearance-sale kind of trade. The Steelers practically gave Pickett away.
Just to remind everyone, PFF graded Nakobe Dean the highest rated Eagles player through 2 weeks so far. He's very much so outperforming Baun. Jalyx Hunt is up there as well.
