It never cease to amaze me how much knowledge, well rounded, with the proper theory foundation, practical how-to learn it and applicability you have in this channel. I can't recommend enough Richie's Bebop Jazz Guitar course, and all the vast library in this channel. Thanks Richie!
Oh man eartraining!! Definitively one of my weak spots.... using seven different fingerings for playing one lick seems to be the right place to start.... but it leaves me wondering if it wouldn’t „seduce“ me into shifting those fingerings around... I still hang on to that romantic idea that one beautiful day my fingers are just going to play what I hear without me thinking about it😀
I really got a lot out of this and Guitar is not even my instrument. Really like what you had to say about ear training. I think this will help me here the notes better and be able to convert my ideas quicker. Would you say the essence of jazz music is mainly eight notes and triplets?
The original hand made D'Angelico guitars were out of this world. The actual cheap mass produced ones (in the $1,000 range) that I've tried, I haven't been too impressed with...but I guess that varies depending on the model.
There is no short answer. It also depends whether you are starting from scratch or you already have somewhat of a good ear but don't understand the theory behind what you hear in your head. Either way, like I said in the video, consider taking a course which organizes all the building blocks of music into ear training exercises.
