Hey folks! It’s been brought to my attention a scene was missed in this analysis, When Axel and Oscar are escorted to another cell block we see fallen prisoners that had been zip tied and executed, It’s been suggested this could have been an attempt by the guards to contain the spread of the virus as the prisoners began to turn but let me know what you think!
Ex CO here. My theory is that the riot guards went down to the heat. Those outfits are hot and this is in Georgia. If Georgia is anything like Texas, AC units are rare, and likely wouldn't be on when the power is down. They also likely didn't shoot the initial infected. Guns generally are never brought inside the perimeter. He likely got several staff and inmates before anyone could react. It might have even been a riot that took the first life. Said riot might have even been because of a surprise lockdown. In Texas, California, and a few other states there is a minimum number of lockdowns a year to search units, if not all the states. Everything else was poor key control allowing inmates to get from area to area, bitten officers and turning on the other side of locked gates, and inmates assuming staff is responsible and attacking preemptively. There has been a long going urban legend that prisons would be purged in the case of WW3, so that likely wouldn't help. Oh, and it's common to find "don't pick up hitchhikers" signs near prisons, even if there never has been a successful escape there. Oh, and the gas masks are not great for that kind of smoke. It's meant for CS and OC spray. As for the toilets, those are kept very clean. Inmates wash them religiously, and they are kept clean enough to do laundry in. Some even keep soda in their toilets. The water was clean, but limited and the water plants would stop putting new water in the pipes after the power went down.
Not even an Urban Legend, during Hurricane Katrina the Orleans Parish Prison abandoned over 600 prisoners. While there is no official death toll, there are 517 prisoners who went missing at that time without ever turning up.
Another here. Remember when the military was going place to place offing infected and none infected? They could have had the place as a target and blowing a hole in the building. They met their grizzly end. Becuse that is nor fire damage. That is a explosion. Maybe the boiler room? Considering most prisons in Georgia's rural areas still use steam oil boilers for heat. If you leave those unattended, even oil steam boilers from the 1980s. They will explode.
@@whitechapel8959 Even 1990's Texas prisons still use boilers that need constant surveillance. The one I worked at kept them in a mostly separate building.
Mad respect to the guard who helped save the inmates. I like to believe he was a stand out guard who would even try his best to make their lives easier in the before times. The scummy guards call them “Inmate advocates”. Regardless this unsung hero deserves some praise
Guards probably didnt had guts to kill unarmed prisoners. This is still very early in apocalipse and people werent that hardcore at that time. Guards were stuck with prisoners who they cant trust and will be dead weight in a fight. So the only option was to lock them in closest safe room.
Agreed. An episode showing what happened to Robin Taylor Lords character and his girlfriend in between when we see them alive and struggling, to when we see her deceased and him in terminus would really be dope. Did anyone watch an Internet short called Dead Storage? It was like 4 or 5 minisodes totaling maybe 30 minutes of story. That was really cool. They could have done more like that. Or shown the story of the guys in the bar in the episode Nebraska, and what brought them there.
@@Swell-Films make sure you get them to do it while getting yourself paid though. Let's get some ideas for characters and scripts to present for you that would be incredible! Maybe do some lives with your audience to help 💜💜💜
Headcanon: it absolutely happened, probably they saw the tank and a bunch of walkers and the Governor’s rotting body, if not fully skeletical and were like “WTF happened here?”
I could imagine something like this: Years had passed since the outbreak. Many settlements and communities had risen and fallen. A group of survivors was searching old governmental buildings for weapons and any useful supplies. Most places nearby had already been looted or were too hard to access, until they remembered the old prison close by. So they went there. They weren’t expecting anything unusual, maybe a couple of military trucks with supplies if they were lucky, but when they arrived, they saw something unexpected: bodies were scattered all around, along with vehicles, tents, and even what was once a farm. There were signs of what had been a thriving community-and then, the tank. Like a sore thumb, it was clear this had been the downfall of the settlement. More and more signs of conflict appeared, and they wondered, "What the hell happened here?" But even with that question in their minds, they didn’t care much about the history or the rise and fall of the place. They didn’t have the luxury to ask questions. They were searching only for supplies and were more than happy to use the ones left there...
12:05 I was always under the impression that the gas mask walker was because that guy thought the disease was airborne and put it on as a measure to prevent him from turning.
the only thing i wonder is why not make a tales of twd episode based on this success? it doesn't necessarily have to focus on the guard who locked the prisoners in the cafeteria they can choose to show the story of any guard or prisoner and why not maybe even a small group they can also make everyone die maybe mentioning some zombie like the guard who committed suicide there are so many ideas so many stories that they can do thanks for this video I love all your videos even the Pokemon ones
Imagine a tales episode where it starts when Jim reanimates as a walker, we follow his story as one, we see him on the farm with the horde, then we see him get killed off either by somebudy we don't know or somebudy we'd come to later, that's just ONE idea, they could do so many.
The prison was my favorite home featured in the show. Idk why, but I loved that they were able to call the place home and even made it more of a home by season 4 with the eating area, the water system, and the chalk drawings on the wall
@@ferrofluidfangz And as much as I like Alexandria and definitely feels like the best home to have once the world turns to crap, the prison just feels like another character we had to say goodbye to. I still love the hint for it at the end of season 2 with the theme playing and growing louder as we see the prison in the distance
@@hpfan2007 what a good way to put it! it really was one of the homes that felt the most 'alive' in a sense. because of alexandria being so barren at first intro, it didn't feel like anyone really lived there at all before the fall, whereas we had so many stories of the prisoners who lived there before & it felt like the survivors honored their lives in a sense by making the prison a home.
Got to do the fall of Ricks Hospital, Noah’s family’s neighborhood, Cranwall High School, the CDC, and the high rise office camp in Atlanta that Carol and Darrel discover.
I’m very excited to see what happens next in Daryl Dixon season 2. I never really thought about how the prison could have been overrun by the walkers you would think that with all of the supplies they have there they would be safe but I guess in the zombie apocalypse even the most secure places can still be overrun.
@@Swell-FilmsI left a comment up above that gives you a lot of info. Also, the guns being inside of the perimeter is a VERY bad sign. They haven't been allowed past the admin buildings since the 90's if not earlier. They had to have left and come back to save the population.
The fence behind the admin building appears to be cut. The building was burnt down but that doesn’t explain how the fence is got cut in a straight line. People came after looking for supplies or perhaps some did escape?
You forgot to add when Rick group the escorted the two prisoners to their cell block you can see prisoners zip tie behind their backs lined up and executed
Since watching your videos I've been keeping my eye out for environments and im up to season 9/10 now. Any idea what that place is beta hangs out at when alpha meets him?
I remember seeing a part when Rick and the others went into a different cell block and saw multiple inmates lying face down on the floor hands tied and a bullet hole to the head. They executed all of the inmates in that cell block.
They left so many supplies in the prison after the war, i always think about all the guns that were probably abandoned in the prison, I know some of the survivors took some weapons when fighting the Governor and his army, but we saw on rick's side that most of them are civilians and already fled to the bus. The only character that i saw fighting (that are not part of the main cast) is Julio, the guy using a sniper rifle and uses the bench as a shield. He also got killed when attempting to run alongside with Maggie and the others. Yes, Lizzie and Mika both have guns, but it was nothing compared to the stockpile that they've left.
The bus always confused me because of its placing, its on its side but if you tipped it up it would hit the fence so it couldn't have been tipped from a standing position without damaging the gates
I worked as a Swat Officer in a prison in Indiana... (still in corrections now, just juvenile on a county level vs adult on a state level.) and a couple of things I noticed.... 1... there should have been wayyyyy more officers in Riot gear. 2. there are Civilian workers in a prison... definitely if the fall happened during the day. 3. there was wayyyy less staff (officers) in the walkers/bodies than there should have been as they would have been mandated to work during the sickness before the fall.
A solid attempt at breaking down what happened at the Prison, but you forgot the scene where Rick's group took the surviving inmates to be detained in another wing of the prison; where we see that the previous inmates had had their arms had been handcuffed behind them, bags placed over their heads, and looked to have all been shot in back of the head in front of their cells. That scene changes the context of what might have happened. My theory is that, after realizing that the dead are coming back to life to eat the living and that the government wasn't coming to save them, some of the guards decided to purge the prison of its inmates so they could use the prison as a wasteland fortress to ride out the apocalypse. Only problem was that not all guards and staff agreed with that plan. There's no telling if they ever debated on what to do, but what is sure is that the murderous guards started putting down inmates before all hell broke out. Either the honorable guards started to let some of the inmates loose to combat the murderous guards, or the inmates just caught on what the guards were doing and rioted like their lives depended on it. Shoots were fired, people died, reanimated, got back up, and the prison turned into a burned out blood bath we all know and love. As to why the bus was flipped? I imagine it was a way to prevent staff that wanted to leave from beating down the gate with their cars or something. People were in the dark about what was happening on the outside of the prison. You don't want useful people getting themselves killed over something as silly as "Looking for their loved ones". But that's just my two cents.
I absolutely did miss that scene thanks for bringing it to my attention, really well thought out theory. as for your take on there tied up prisoners, I think that’s probably exactly the case with the executed prisoners
My personal opinion is that instead of a riot it started off as the cops knew what was happening and certain cells started getting infected so they tried to keep it under wraps while executing them, which is why somewhere zip tied, but then there was a riot Because the prisoners didn’t know what was happening in, assume they were just killing I mean, it would make sense because cops would have walkie-talkies to other cops outside of the prison as well as communications to different government agencies that are in tandem with the prison
I like your explanation of this. Ngl, when I saw the title I immediately thought you were referring to when The Governor attacked for the final time and not the initial fall of the prison. Some of the civilians could have been visitors as well as people who found the whole entering the tombs on the other side of the prison. As for the prisoner trapped in the cell, starvation and dehydration was likely the cause of their deaths but maybe it could have been an illness or even they opted out from something we couldn’t see. It’s quite disappointing that Tales didn’t explore this but if they have a season 2, they can redeem themselves. Those riot guards could have gotten trapped outside by all the walkers inside and maybe hide away outside but eventually starved themselves but then why wouldn’t they try to hop over the fence with all the walkers inside the fence as well? Like you said, they were probably beaten to death by rioters. I wonder if the guard who gave Tomas the gun was one of the walkers. Would you cover any environmental story telling on world beyond if you haven’t already? I’m excited for this month since Halloween is coming!
I had a couple comments saying that so hopefully this titles a little better. But yeah these stories would have been a gold mine for tales, such a shame. And there is one scene in world beyond’s first season I have on my list so I’ll definitely be getting around to it eventually!
Hey man great video, i really loved what you did here and i've also noticed that you've done other videos on things that me and others have recommended, so i wanna give you another one, how about the supermarket they visit in the premier of S4, when Beth's boyfriend dies, it's pretty interesting if you ask me!
Hmmm I think a prison break did happen maybe a prisoner had connections from outside who tried to blast the walls of the prison bit when it attracted walkers that started the riot and guards shooting at prisoners. Since the guards wouldn’t be able to tell who’s infected or not since it was their first encounter with the walkers. Then I can see the same people who are trying to break out/ break in get to that prison bus but either the guard shot at the tire or someone on the bus got infected and took a chuck out of the driver which resulted in the bus flipping
I don’t see the guards giving Thomas and the other prisoners a weapon and locking them in the kitchen, I think Thomas got the pistol from him and blew his head off, that guard with the gunshot was that guard. The others didn’t snitch on him for fear of being killed.
I liked your theory a lot but I have a big theory about the bus on the side I believe some prison guards were driving some of the inmates to another prison but one of the prisoners turned into a walker and attacked the driver and then the bus flips over. Tbh I love the riot gear walkers they are one of my favorite walkers in the show! You know what weird the prison guards didn’t use any of there weapons like there pistols or you couldn’t see if they had a night stick on the side of them. Great job on the video! Do you ever think you can do a video about Rick Grimes police station in King County???
@@Swell-Films no problem and thanks to you! You’re making better TWD content than others! I love your theories and things you want people to think about! Just keep it up!
Have you done a video on the family in the very first episode of TWD where Rick get's the horse? The wall says God Forgive Us in blood. I'm not sure if it's enough to make a video tbh.
The guards could have brought the virus in from the outside, inmates who were sick could have died and turned, anyone in the sick ward would have attacked a nurse and started something which would lead to chaos and a riot... but I like how the theory here where it seems like someone was shot in the head for no reason (not knowing they had turned yet) and then revolting against what they thought was a murdered friend
I'd take a guess that the civilian bodies were from the administrative staff of the prison. If most of the admin building was destroyed in a fire and the main civilian entrance was cut off during the chaos then the staffers would have had no choice except to flee deeper into the prison. There they'd get attacked in the tombs by walkers or killed during the riot by the panicking prisoners and rogue guards. They'd reanimate and end up in the exercise area, where Rick's group found them, as they made their way outside chasing down whatever few living inmates and guards remained.
Yes!! I was hoping you would do a video about this. I appreciate the content you put out about TWD. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for TWD videos.
@@Swell-FilmsI was saying that the prison is perfect cause you can gink the brains thru the fence and gather for a smoke out. Ignoring other groups that is
The 3rd season aired in 2012, if i am not mistaken, well it's over a decade ago, so it's been that long, and what makes it worse is that Hershel's actor passed away a few years ago.
Yea I did miss that scene, someone suggested some guards had attempted to purge the dead after discovering what was going on and I think that’s pretty much spot on
I suppose, but I mean they are wearing riot gear, it would be strange if every guard got bit before putting it on. The only exposed areas of skin I see are around the neck, and I don’t see any bite marks there so that leads me to think it was from something else
