I like when hobbyists share ways to keep it simple and real. But I have to ask Ron....A brine shrimp video on RU-vid without a $50 brine shrimp hatchery or eggs from a green can? How can this be? LOL. No need to de-chlorinate if you do use tap water. Chlorine will gas off before the eggs hatch. And actually its believed the chlorine partially decapsulates the cysts so the hatch rate improves. In fact, bleach is used by many hatcheries to completely decapsulate the eggs. Plenty of info about this on the interweb. Floating in the tanks to maintain warmer temps is smart. I hatch BBS at ambient fish room temp (71-73). Excellent hatch rate every time. Just takes a little longer as he mentioned. 24 hours on average. He's also 100% right that (no airstone) coarse bubbles work better. Cool idea to have the eggs and salt combined to make it easy. Thanks for sharing. Always nice to see other methods that work.

Interesting Tom, I did t know about not dechlorinating. I’ve been using this method for about a year. It works better than my old pickle jar method 😁

When I hatch brine shrimp, the air fild with salt particuls makes a mess all around my hatchery because it has no lid. It makes me wonder if your method can also send salt particuls out of the bottle and into the tank.
@FridayFishFacts
@FridayFishFacts 3 года назад
I hadn’t thought about that. The tank I float my bottle in has guppies, so a little salt shouldn’t hurt them
@backbane2972
@backbane2972 2 года назад
It seems like an easy fix if you keep the bottle lid and make a hole big enough in it for both the rigid airline tubing to go through and some air to escape.
