Thank you! Nothing was planned just threw a few bits together over 3 months, it came out pretty nice. The new array (Maximizing 20kW - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ybSxmc78YCM.html) will add extra punch in the morning (easterly array) to boost the batteries quickly after the night time load. This means I can start the AC anytime without waiting for batteries to charge in case there is a lot of cloud in the afternoon. Also great for the 3-4 days of cloud in a row we get sometimes.

NO matter what the reason. There is always a reason. 😁 Notice how the consumption continually goes up to match supply. Reminds me of "the job expands to take the time allotted."

@OrganicPower-Australia
@OrganicPower-Australia 29 дней назад
Hello, thank you for the interest in the channel. My system is off grid only, with generator backup. The generator is not used 99.9 percent of the time. Only if we have cyclone fall out and it is very dark and cloudy for 4 days. I will be adding more AC coupled units and making a solar carport in the near future. Then we will be 100% off grid all year round. I have just connected our spa to the 100% SOC relay, so now when the battery is full all excess power is diverted to the spa for heating 👌🏻😎 Due to using less AC in autumn we have a lot of excess juice 👍🏻

I’m impressed by your setup. This is a great template for off-grid. I can see me doing the same thing on a vacation home in a sunny climate. How long do you estimate the life of everything?
@OrganicPower-Australia
@OrganicPower-Australia 7 месяцев назад
Yeah it turned out very nice, there is not much I would change. Fantastic for a vacation home, probably only need 10kva for a smaller place. I have heard the Victron gear should last up to 20 years. And so should the panels (they will loose 10-20% efficiency at that age) The batteries are rated at 2000 cycles full to full discharged. I will only be charging to 98% and loosing around 10% overnight. After watching the Kings battery masterclass video I have estimated they should last at least 6-8 years maybe even more. This is a very useful video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xRUQCxWGyfQ.html Enjoy your future build, once done you will be glad you made the effort!
@OrganicPower-Australia
@OrganicPower-Australia 7 месяцев назад
Hi there, yeah it was measure 10 times and fit once, read the manual 15 times over, watch countless videos on RU-vid and work for many hours. I've been a sparky for over 27 years and it was still a lot to design and build in 1 month. You will get change from $30k if you can do a lot of the work. I have added links to most of the equipment used in the comments, the prices change quite often. Keep an eye out for sales. I used second hand panels and mounting equipment. I tried to spend most of my money on the important things that need to last. If you add to your existing Victron gear and batteries I would say around $18-20k

@OrganicPower-Australia 7 месяцев назад
Thanks mate, I was an industrial sparky for 25+ years. The Victron system can look a little messy sometimes, takes a little more work to hide the cabling but the end product is neat. The cableway is comprised from Fire-retardant plywood with cement sheet backing, to insulate from the steel shed. The cooling fan also draws air through the cableway as well as the vents below the front of the panel. On a hot day the air at the top of the shed it gets to around 34-36c, the units run at around 25-28c under load. Cheers for the Sub.

Hey mate ive got a question - Any reason you went the Victron / Multiple multiplus vs a Selectronic SP Pro unit that can push that 63 amp single phase peak ? Any any reason to not use a AC coupled system earlier in the build?
@OrganicPower-Australia
@OrganicPower-Australia Месяц назад
Price, reliability, support, ease of install, solid transformer based inverters not high frequency. Perfect for 100% off grid. The list goes on! For AC coupling you must follow the 1:1 rule so best to start with DC. DC is also more efficient for running off batteries at night. I do however love the fact that in autumn, winter and spring when the house load is lower and the batteries are full the AC coupled unit takes over completely and gives the DC system a well earned rest. Thanks for the great questions

Nice rig, man! I'll have kind of the same system mounted soon on my house. I just ordered 3 Multi2 5kva. Got a very good offer for black friday sales (2+1 free and 33% discount on top of that). Got also 3 MPPTs 250/85 with 40% discount. Such a good deal to refuse it , so I also bough another 2 complete Victron systems for 2 campers on 24V (3 and 5 KVA Multis + cerbos and mppts) 🙂 I will also install the 3 Multis for home in parallel for redundancy reasons. Same as you, I didn't take the touch diaplay for the home rig, thought I can manage it only trough VRM from my tablet. Will see.. I got only one 5' display for one camper system to see if I really need it. How hard was to make the settings on the hole system? I am kind of newbie in this and need to find out if I can learn a few and do it myself or to ask for a specialist to connect it. Thanks!

Thank you so much for letting us know about your builds, some more great info about the endless options out there in the off-grid power world. The screen would be a nice touch in a camper. No fuss, less to worry about when you are out having a good time! It's very simple to make the final settings, only takes a few minutes. I will be making some more videos about system setup in the next week. Check out my (Victron Connect Configuration) Playlist for some other setup videos. If not yourself, please ensure use a qualified tradesperson for the 110v/240v work. The rest can be done if you do a little self training and keep safety at the forefront. Working on high current batteries can be very dangerous. Thanks again for contributing to the New Green World!

Thanks for the SUB! Nice. In the testing phase 4 200ah batteries would run the entire house overnight until 5-6 in the morning. That was when I only had one 5kva Multiplus. 600Ah 2 banks will keep you going on a 10kva system. But will be a bit of a strain. I like to only discharge around 40% overnight and charge to 55V. This helps to reduce cell degradation. The next time there is a great sale grab 4-8 more and you will be very happy with the strength of the battery system.

My channel is for positive and constructive comments only! A comment like this only makes you look sad. Most power generation equipment is rated in VA - volt amps. This takes into account power factor. Manufacturers don't know what type of circuit their unit will be installed into, capacitive or inductive. So they will use VA or KVA, actual power W is can only be determined once power factor is calculated into the equation. If you watch the video you will see it in operation on the portal, all in watts.
