This is the strategy I developed for "speedrunning" Dragonfly on public servers, I don't claim myself being an inventor of it but I didn't see it anywhere after some research on youtube. EDIT: Appears that there is a video with similar strategy which is older than mine

I didn't add that you need to find the "corner" magma pool as there's 1 additional pool in-between 2 corner pools and this pool will not work, if this middle pool is also close to corner pool you better ignore this corner pool as well.
It's possible to use 14 non-diagonal tiles in a straight line instead, but that requires more considerations before building, and putting enraged Dragonfly for sleep on that tile without taking any damage might be impossible, so you better just stick to the classic strategy if you can't use diagonal tiles.

Cool strat! I think the ‘no cheese’ in the thumbnail is a misnomer, as I’d say this strat is the definition of cheese

It removes rng annoyance of getting lavae spawning cycle instead of enraging which makes the fight super long. It also removes guaranteed hit after that spawning cycle. For me it just speeds up the fight as it's nothing special in the first place either way, you just do 6 hits and dodge, this boss is just a damage sponge, having 27500 hp with basically no special attacks

@@vinegar358 Very nice strat. But I have to agree with op about the misnomer. You said dfly has no "special attack", but her special attack IS the lavae. The wall alone is a cheese strat. Shifting the arena center on top of that essentially breaks her.

Well, again, this discussion. I was arguing with someone and after I was convinced that walls and flute are indeed cheese, from now on I only fight df without walls and flute. It's quite a fun fight.

Blocking lavae is cheesing, but so is using panflute to stop enraged form. Whether you agree or disagree with me, I can say for sure that nobody wants to fight dfly the "normal" way which is without doing any of what I said earlier. Your choice... I'd say that "intended" way to deal with lavae is to freeze them with an ice staff and using panflute is intended way to skip enraged form but whatever... Cool strategy, liked it!

Idk where are 80% came from as 80% she was aggroed on me. This just saves you some time, if you block the lavae with classic strat you can also count this as cheese. I also don't know the reason why the center shifts like that, but it seems to be an intended feature

@@Rudy137 cheesing is beating the boss with no effort. Here you still need to know how to kite properly to do this without healing. While I do agree that it's not really cool to remove the boss ability to do X but with this boss it's a different story. Doing no walls strategy on characters who can't 1 cycle lavae(without animation cancelling) require a shit ton of armor and healing because they will stockpile you which becomes impossible to kite so you might as well just use 12 walls and call it a day at this point. You want to kill this boss approximately on day 10-15 to also have some time for ruins before winter starts. Will this boss loot be worth it if they nerf the wall method and leave lavae damage and health the same? No. I'm not the fan of using unintended ways but this boss is an exception because I either do it that way or don't do it at all

armored bearger can solo her if you wanna skip the whole fight, but it requires rifts open and a bearger to show up.

You have to like... wait till day 75 before the bearger comes and it's the first time I'm hearing about armored bearger. This is called "easiest way" because it decreases the difficulty of the fight and has basically the lowest fight preparation requirements, unless you do this as a weremoose or something which is very limited

Idk why would you need to farm dragonfly in late game. If you wanna gems you can just do fuelweaver ruins cycle as it gives a lot more gems and other stuff too, if you want scales you can duplicate them with construction amulet/deconstruction staff via the turf

@@vinegar358 because killing bosses repeatedly is the only way to play the late game. The other alternative is to mega base, but if you wanna build I would reccomend minecraft or factorio. The game has so many of these little core flaws that I resided to cheese strats so I wouldn't lose my mind over trying to make this game make sense.

Cool strategy. But I feel like the easiest way to kill dfly is actually tanking with marble suits. You probably get the same dps. This way is cheaper tho

If you mean put it to light up the area in the night ig you can. It would be even better than lantern as it provides more light. Default fire campfires also should work

This is just the same strategy with cooler wall placement and you have a lesser chance of getting damaged

okay no I need to make a comment. cheesing doesn't just mean doing something that makes the fight easier, or require no effort. it's using mechanics that weren't intended to be used, including bugs. blocking off the lavae in any way is cheesing. you're abusing mob pathing AI in order to make the fight easier. something like panfluting isn't cheesing as its intended.

This is the old wall and sign thing but with no signs and walls (block the larvae, focus on dragonfly and kite properly, etc). Also a cheese method is just a way of doing something that requires less skill, not no skill. That being said, kiting attacks honestly isn’t that hard so this is basically a cheese Also please stop telling everyone and correcting them saying it’s not a cheese method because it is and they all know it. Blocking the random rng of larvae spawning everywhere is still making the fight easier which ultimately results in this fight being a cheese.

Everybody has a thing called opinion and my opinion states that this isn't cheesing therefore no cheese will remain in thumbnail. You can call using pan flute on its own a cheese since it decreases difficulty of the fight as well

I agree, but the majority of the community says it is cheese so I would still recommend changing the thumbnail to say this strategy has little cheese

@@TheLifeLaVita well when people upload classic wall strategy they don't claim their videos to be CHEESE STRATEGY and this is essentially the same amount of cheese so I just changed "no" to "some". I'd rather never mentioned the word cheese here as half of the comments about it
