Very helpful video, thank you HM - just tucked my 38 under the sofa cushion. In case my TV tries to kill me. (Seriously, people appreciate these TV hanging tutorials. esp for choosing the most practical easy to install mount. The options are confusing. Also, just watched a good video about hanging heavy items on walls with off-center studs. Just screw a narrow 17"-18"" wide wood plank to the wall studs, then attach the heavy fixture to the plank, centered. Very simple strong solution. (This idea works for hanging heavy tools too. And you only drill two holes in the wall, instead of drilling multiple hanging hook holes across the wall.)

I have put up mounts that weigh more than the darn TV! Also I put some painters tape on the TV and the wall so I know where the hooks need to line up to when lifting the TV on the hanger bars. Especially good when you are lifting a 55inch!

You are the best. Always hit all the nails but never over do anything~! I happened to have same exact mount in the kitchen~! :D By the way, I would put the space the other side of the mounting panel to make the TV hangs closer to the wall. Thanks as always~! :D

I use to do it this way but I now eliminate the pre-drill and the need for socket adapter by using GRK cabinet screws. Faster. Simpler. Thoughts?

Hey Handyman! Those mm holes are a set of standard sizes that the TV / Monitor guys came up with. They call it a VESA pattern (Video Electronics Standards Association). There's a couple charts out there. 'F-n ya wanted ta luuk em up. I had to get a "Pro-Grade, Roll-Up, mearsurn' stick" with the mm's on it. Thanks for the vids!

I like to use the rare earth magnets in a cloth bag to find the studs. Get me close and fast.

Did you overlook the 4" drop to account for owner wanting top of TV 4” below the plug? Your 5 1/2" drop should be 9 1/2".

this may sound like a follish question but if one wanted to pull the tv out while still attatched to the wall mout to bring the tv closer is that an option ? i have a small room and i would be wathing tv from my bed so i want to some what bring it closer by having the tv extend out lol i hope this make sense

Hey handyman, thought the customer wanted the TV 4" (100mm) below the screw hole ;-)

i also use the olight flashlight 🔦. the options on lumens is great plus rechargeable.

Also a good way to find a stud is to use your flashlight and shine it sideways on the wall. It will show where the drywall screws are from the light shining across them.

Lol, I usually measure 16" from the corner of the wall where their is guaranteed to be a stud. Blocking or fire block?

Hope you have a job using foam insulation kits soon. I have a job coming up in a mobile home where I'm going to try the kit from menards. Its a box store if your not familiar with them. Kit does 220 sq ft. For 365. Dollars. I'll let you know how it goes for me. If anyone else has any suggestions using these kits I would appreciate any suggestions using these. Ty

Once you ‘hang’ the tv onto the mount it looks like you did no other screws/tightening/etc. does it just ‘hang’ there so to speak? On and off just by lifting it up and off?

Lees single mount monitor brackets are basically only useful if they wouldn’t stud is in the perfect location for you to mount the monitor on they don’t have a good weight bearing ability and they stick out too far from the wall giving tremendous leverage against the wall where a kid or someone who’s not paying attention could very easily pop that monitor off the wall I always like the brackets that have two contacts to the wall which are the flat mouse if you need it to move around get a good quality articulating wall mount but avoid the single contact Braket

My screws from this bracket are stuck in my tv... I'm assuming it 'bottomed out?' I can't get them out for the life of me, any ideas?

Aren’t most electrical boxes on the right side of the studs? Because most people are right handed and it makes it easier to nail them in if they’re on the right side?

Nice job. Alternatively you may have put the spacers on the outside of the plate so it doesn’t push the tv out further and keeps it as low profile as possible.

My issue is I have a small wall I out dead center but when I told tv it goes to the side of wall, and not center of where I screwed bracket
