I would like to thank you for this tutorial. This changed my life. For about 20 years I had bumps and dark spots on my scalp from shaving with electric razors and liners. After Following your instructions my scalp cleared up in weeks! No more bumps and embarrassing dark spots. Really really appreciate you!
Loved this video. I am a black man who will be starting my bald journey due to my allopicia on the crown of my head. I've been told I'd look good bald. You've given me confidence 👊🏾🙏🏾
creative uk I wonder why Alopecia is effecting some many people nowadays, I just recently had to go bald because of it also , must be the chem trails they spray in the sky
Just wanted to say thanks, I have been using your technique for years. Accepting balding, and shaving my head on my own was the best decision I made. Changed my life, and saved me a lot of money as well.
Easiest way is blind, in the shower. Use bar soap irish spring w/ aloe to lather up your head and use a gillette fusion (or another 4 blade razor). You follow your swipes with your other hand to feel if you missed anything. Takes me 1 minute, daily- been doing it over 10 years. My 2 cents.
That is the exact way I have also been doing it since 2005, and I'm currently using the Fusion 5 Proshield Power. No need for a mirror or messy sink when your fingers can tell you what you've missed.
I've only done it twice but I'm surprised at how much faster I am at shaving with a safety razor than just buzzing my head with a balding clipper like I used to do.
I have been going to a barber to have my head shaved bald for years. Only by watching your video twice did I finally get the courage to do it myself. Thank you for providing guidance, education, and giving your time to help guide us brothas. Appreciate cha!
Thanks for this tutorial. Since shaving with safety razor I have not had any bumps and its a cleaner shave than an electric razor. For years I had bumps and this technique resolved it. Thank you
I have the most sensitive skin but this has been the easiest way for me to shave my face & head so far. I bought all the products in the description. Thanks for listing everything and the video!
After a car crash, about a week later I took a shower and found glass in my hair. Your tutorial helped me get a clean bald head and have it stay that way. After that, I just followed your instructions, and my scalp cleared up. So many thanks!
I just used a razor on my head for 1st time in years. I saw a channel where the brother used coconut oil to shave. I tried it and I used black soap to wash my scalp afterwards. I used the coconut oil to make sure that my head doesn't get irritated. I will shave again tomorrow and this will be the true test because I can't shave with a razor every two days and not get razor bumps. loved the vid btw **subscribed**
I just got a boyfriend is a very much a proud black man and he has been wanting to spend more quality time together so thank you for this video, allowing me to see how shaving a head is done. i did this with him yesterday and he loved it
I've been contemplating this for a year. I've been researching for just as long and found your video today. I'm going to take the plunge and go for it. Thanks for the insightful tutorial and product suggestions.
Thanks for all the helpful tips and video's Nate... Been shaving my head for a week now, all smooth sailing... I'm going to have to try out that Dare To Be Bald stuff.. Keep up the good work my friend..
The most effective, yet dirt cheap shave oil is something called Africas Best Ultimate Herbal oil. Costs 2-3 dollars for a whopping 8 ounces of all natural ,herbal oils.Find it at Dollar General or Walmart. It's a nice, smooth, thick oil that I can slather over my face and beard as a pre shave, and is so effective, sometimes I dont even bother using a lather or cream for the actual shave. Just apply it over the area before a few minutes before you shower and/or shower shave, lather up with bar soap,-seriously ,even the dullest blades glide through your skin.Forget the overpriced shave oils, youre being ripped off.Just hope the price stays as reasonoble.
In regards to what you said about people not having youtube channels, I totally agree. If you'd like, you're welcome to use my method. I used to do a simple blind shave in the shower, and the skin would stay clean shaven and oil free for all of maybe 3 hours or 4 hours. My new method is extremely convoluted but it keeps my head clean shaven and oil free for a good 8 to 9 hours now, and that's in tke peak of summers. Now, I start with a small towel. I'll boil up some hot water and cover the top with the towel or I'll microwave water for about 3 minutes and leave the towel in the bowl to soak after the water is hot. I'll wash my face and head with regular soap, i don't dry, and I'll wring out that hot towel just a bit and let it sit on my head for a good five minutes. Once that's done, I go in with a few drops of preshave oil, that I made myself. In a small bottle, I mix: 3 fl oz of castor oil, 1 fl oz of olive oil, 5-7 drops of vitamin E oil, and exactly 8 drops of cypress essential oil, exactly 3 drops of pine essential oil, and exactly 4 drops of cedarwood essential oil. I massage it in and let it sit for another 60 seconds (since i didn't dry my head form the hot towel, the water is still there which means I have less oil to use). I then lather up (i'll have to check which brand I get, but it's nothing fancy, just something from Trader Joe's). From there, I shave with the grain first, then apply more lather and go against the grain. When I'm going against the grain I always go slower. Once that's done, I'll apply some after shave balm and some moisturizing lotion. LIke I said, It's extremely lengthy, but you're welcome to try it out :) Feel free to DM for more information!
My personal routine is I go into the shower, wash my scalp with Suave dandruff shampoo, rinse it with hot water to open the pores. I’ll use Bevel pre-shave oil and put it all over my head and then let it sit while I wash the rest of my body. After that I apply Cremo shave cream and then shave once with touch ups after. What’s interesting is on your sides you go from back to front. I go from bottom to top 😅 I go bottom top on sides and back and front to back on the top. After I put on after shave (arctic ice or something like that). And I use a Harry’s 5 blade razor. This works for me pretty well! I like your humble attitude though :)
Im too damn scared to use a razor on my head. Did it a few times and had my shit looking like a nestle crunch bar... I can never get a nice bald head without some type of irritation.
Khailx Haha, I feel you. I just started shaving my head and I must say, it gets better (as far as the actual shaving) as you go. Just make sure your scalp is prepped properly (after shower; open pores) and use a quality cream/soap and a sharp blade. You'll be fine, 2-3 passes WITH the grain. By the way, the "Dare to be Bald" is amazing stuff. Smells good and makes your head glisten. I also use the Shave Secret and Proraso green as well.
Thank you for posting this video! My Father is elderly and I want to learn how to shave his head since he prefers the clean look and feel of a bald head. He has Parkinson's and can't handle the razor himself any longer.
Well it’s almost that time for me to shave my head. I’ve been holding on to my thinning hair since my mid 20s. Now that I’ve hit 30 I’m ready to accept my fate lol. Im excited and I’m glad I found your video. I feel that once i shave my head I’ll feel this sense of liberation! My only thing is that my head get cold easily.
There is nothing quite like a razor shave on the head. Like you, I use the Dare To Be Bald Moisturiser afterwards....It works well & leaves my scalp feeling super-smooth & gives a really healthy shine. Like your videos, bro. Keep up the good reviews.
Like the video. I use Dollar Tree 6 blade shaver two in the pack and gel shaving cream . I use hot water on my head before i put the gel on . i found out the more blades the better the shave and no bumps .
I like your grooming routine. That lotion at the end looks good. I'm very careful what to put on my head when I'm bald because some lotions can irritate my fresh shaved head.
Thank you for the video! Just shaved my head for the first time. Looking forward to trying all products for a better shave and take better care of my scalp.
If anyone is watching this video and thinking about going bald just do it, I guarantee it will look cleaner and neater than that tuft of hair you’re trying to keep a hold of
When I shaved my head alot I would rub on baby oil then shaving cream for an ultra smooth shave. I always went with the grain for a smoother shave also.
Always looking for a good shave new tips thanks kind of have the same problem with the hair pattern so decide to keep it all off but again with the bumps and stuff so thanks for the tips works well keep on posting.....
I see you still rocking the double edge. I hear those don't cut nearly as close as they should. You gotta try Shickhydro 5. One shave against the grain and it's game over. Crazy smooth and clean shave.
Thanks bro, I’m just subscribing and all the videos you put up are gems that I definitely and desperately needed. Keep up the great work with these vids and I’m definitely going to follow and keep using the wisdom you keep feeding us. Peace
Great video but I have a question. If I'm starting with a full head of hair, should I go to a barber or can I shave it at home? By the way, your bald head is awesome and inspires me to go bald.
This helped me and my hubs. LOL I shave my head bald currently due to health reasons and he does because it’s his style. He loved your beard tip, as well. 👌 Thanks. Subbed!
Hey Nate, I'm a new subscriber to your channel. Really helpful tutorial for shaving a bald head. I do have a question about the type of razor you use? What razor do you recommend specifically for shaving bald head? Thanks again. 👌
I WENT BALD LAST WEEK FRIDAY, SEP 30TH. I shaved my head bald a few days ago bc of trich and documented it, i have a lot of videos on my channel about it. so freeing and liberating, OMG . I'm so happy i did it.
u should go with the grain, whatever the direction your hair grows. very seldom do I go against the grain. maybe once a month when i want the 360 best all around shave. but EVERY MORNING i shave my head and face!
NEVER SHAVE AGAINST!! THAT'S HOW YOU GET RAZOR BUMPS AND SKIN RASH. N IRRITATION TO UR SKIN AS WELL! I USED TO SHAVE MY HEAD LIKE THAT N NOTICED IT GIVES ME RAZOR BUMPS AND IRRITATES THE SKIN N BURNS OR CAN GET A SKIN RASH... MY HEAD FEELS SMOOTH NOW! USING AVEENO SHAVING CREME OR BUTTER SHAVE WITH THE DOLLAR SHAVER CLUB. WORKS GREAT! 💯🙌
I always shave my head bald with clippers I got from Amazon and I just now realized I could also use a regular razor and shaving cream . I got a receiting hair line so my hair grows only the back and the sides . I used to get bald fades when I was younger . But at some point the barber I used To go to said my hair thinned out too much . So that’s when I decided “you know what I’m gonna shave the whims thing off” and I’ve been doing that ever since and I was just told recently that you can use a manual razor to cut my hair and that’s been working so thank You for this bro
Have you ever used essential oils mixture on your scalped head after shaving your head? Are you concerned about putting toxic chemicals into your body via your scalp? The last product you put on your scalp, what ingredients were in the product? I enjoy making my own mixture of essential oils that are 100% natural.
Dare to bee bald is fantastic! I use headslick cream or Stirling soap, arian&Evans, with headblade moto or headblade moto s4 gold finger in steel. Super smooth shave.thayers witch hazel cucumber, headlube glossy moisture lotion for shine head.i in the winter I shave my head every 2 day,3 times a week, in the summer every day .
Great video man! I've been shaving my head in the shower for a while now. Seems to work just as well, shave and leave my head just as smooth as shaving out of the shower. I just buy the cheap Bic 4 blade razors lol considering to buy the OneBlade. Any recommendations razor wise? I've used safety razors as well, but IMO they take way too long because I'm always afraid of going too fast. Wrong angle and you're gushing lol!
You can buy the shave soaps that fit well down in a coffee cup, add half a shot glass of water and swish brush around in cup to perfect shave foam, works well with my old school safety razor
I had to do a reality check about 2 months ago. I took the plunge and started buzzing my head. It was a hard thing to accept. I'm too afraid to use a blade on my head that I will slice it open. I have those a few of those colorless mole bumps I'm sure I would slice off along with some skin tags on my neckline. lol I use the Remington HC4250 on my head. Like you said, it's hard to talk about it, but I made a video about it too which helped me and others to get over it. Thanks for the video.
I love my Muhle r41. Tried quite a few safety razors but with that Muhle r41 it don't matter if it grew out kinda long or not plus of rinses much faster and easier than my others. I can completely shave my head and face in 5 min. I can shave without any nicks or anything with plane cheap gel spray cream. The Muhle r41 is awesome and I can't believe anyone would use a closed comb after using it. I was a little worried about buying the open comb and many on the net act like it's so aggressive and will shave your ears plumb off if you hit them or something but really it's just an awesome razor that works extremely well. I use it with Gillette silver blue blades and seems to work good together. I tried feather and that worked great as well. A lot of people also claim that you cannot use the really sharp blades like that in them but that is not true either it works great with them and I get less nicks. A sharp blade is less likely to Nick because applying to much pressure is what causes the nicks with a safety razor and you don't feel like you need to apply pressure with a good sharp blade. So if you ever thought about wanting one but was scared to try the most aggressive razor there is probably don't worry it's an awesome razor that makes head and face shaving a quick easy process. I'd never have any reason to want anything else. It'll shave quarter inch long or longer hair fast as offer razors I've tried will shave short hair. I'll never need a trimmer again if I miss a week or two even lol. If your hair is fairly short it'll shave way more without clogging up.
Thank you so much bro I appreciate it now I'm officially bald head and I can get a new look now and I can embrace the hate from everybody who treated me wrong this is my very first time going bald head thank you so much sir 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤗 finally I can become my own man and break out my shell and be myself only
Don't worry too much about it bro. I started losing my hair at 18. Just wear a bald head with confidence. Plenty of badass dudes aint got no hair. Bruce Willis, Ed Harris, Dwayne Johnson, even John Wayne.
Great vids bro! They all have been extremely helpful. I'm thinking of trying out a double edge razor but am worried about getting bumps. Right now I use the Oster76 with a 00000 blade. Do you prefer Proraso over the other shaving creams you've used? Also, from checking one of your old vids I got bumps and the same bumpy head texture using the Andis Profoil Lithium.
I'm 37 and will be bald soon. My hair had been thinning for a while and i'm cool with the idea of going bald. I just don't know what's best. Razor or clippers/trimmer? Help me out.
I'm a female but really want to make myself a bald head, think that looks very clean and cool. Is there any recommend brand I could apply on my head like the white stuff you used?
Hey, Nate, thank you for this video. It really was helpful for me. I've been meaning to shave my head real good for some time now. I just didn't know what to use exactly. So, again, thank you.
For me I just put coconut oil from Costco on my head combined with a safety razor and it works better than any shaving cream or ladder I've used. But I am guessing everyone's skin and hair is different
Awesome video man! 😎 I been thinking of fully shaving my head but don't know how. I also have scars and a shunt that I'm not sure how to go about shaving around it or just going over it...
Love ya page brotha...So does shavin every other day cause hyperpigmentation? I have some dark spots how can I get rid if them? I have been trying witch hazel....
Thanks for the video! I've been using T-Liners clippers, mainly because it's cheaper but I think the razor will smooth out the skin if I follow your instructions.
I shave with dove soap in a super hot shower with my wife’s makeup mirror and feel for the spots I missed but I think I need a better razor because I can still see hair
great video man! been shaving my head for a couple a weeks.... I have a questipn bout the Noxzema... how long do leave it on before you wash it off. keep it up!
I have never any of those razor......whats the name of the one your'e using....I saw some good reviews on the Merkur 34c Heavy Duty Classic Double Edge Safety Razor
what all do I need to purchase to keep my head bald? I shave now after I get out of the shaver with a Gillette shaver every day or so to keep it smooth I bump up always on the back of head and neck. Am I doing something wrong or using wrong stuff?
Great video bro! Just my suggestion go "across" grain for a few shaves before going against it. Lol wish I could get my beard like that but due my genetics, mines a slow grower. How many times a week do you shave your head?
Why the complication of building up the lather? Just use Edge shaving gel it has the right thickness and give a good lubrification. Still use the brush to spread it. Invest in a good brush it is worth it. As for the shaving secret pre-lubricant you can use coconut oil instead but buy it in the food retail not cosmetic, it is cheaper and actually of better quality. Heat up your head before shaving with warm water or even steam you will get a closer and longer lasting shave. As for after shave just use facial product that woman use to like, deep cleanser and exfoliant then rinse off with cold water and apply some pore closing lotion. For the shine coconut oil again just a dab would do. If you want your head to smell good use your cologne so you don't end up smelling weird because of mixing odors. If you don't use cologne just put a drop of lime juice in your coconut oil and you will smell real fresh. One more thing Always shave against the hair growth (unless it is the first time you shave). Blades Schick Hydro 5, close shave, last very long and for some reason they don't clog. Happy shave.
I am a bald white guy. I have a buddy of mine who is a man of color he is going to school at the moment. He told me there is a product that stops the hair from growing. What is it? I would prefer not to shave my head every two days thanks
Is the dare to be bald a substitute for the bump stopper? I got the bump stopper after watching your videos and it's working so far but I don't like how it drys out my head so fast. Do you recommend the dare to be bald over the bump stopper 2 ?
Use the liquid high time bump stopper during the day. At night use the paste bump stomper 2. That's the best stuff on the market. You'll see a change instantly when u wake up.
I agree. Bump Stopper 2 is the truth. I had razor bumbs on the back and sides from shaving against the grain. 2 days later there were almost gone with the Bump Stopper 2
This video was made over 5 years ago. I assume there’s been improvements. Go see geofatboy videos on RU-vid to properly build a good lather. You need to fully saturate your brush with hot water cup for 2 min. Shake off excess water, then start lathering with a bowl that has no water in it. It’s also best to heat up the bowl with hot water and then dump out prior to lathering.
Question for all. I went and got a head shaved down, but with an electric not a normal razor. I usually dont get it too low because my head hates it, but its been years since I tried so we went for it. They used a foil to get it down really low and nice, but now I have irritation from small hairs growing back and itches a bit. What's the best thing to use to ease that itches irritation feeling?
Do you shave with the grain or against the grain with that razor blade? I know it's as sharp as the razor blade I am using for my straight razor, and it could sometimes give me cuts on my head if I apply too much pressure on my skin with the razor blade.
I started shaving head recently, noticed that by end of day scalp looks dry. Any videos showing what process & products I should use that helps keep my head from drying out? I use reg cartridge razors & sensitive skin shaving gel. (But ordered a DE safety razor, saw your other video showing it).
I use Gillette vibrating razor ( the one with button on handle) little more expensive but one pack of four razors last me one year and I use cold water on my head and face do like your tips though
I try to cut my head completely bald but I never can do it. I don't know rather it is the type of razor I'm using or what. I want a clean shave but need to know how to get it. I bought all kinds of razors but has failed over and over again in cutting all the hair from my head. Can anybody help me? I want to look like kojak too! Please reply.
Im worried about trying it with a razor like that again. Last few times i did it my head broke out bad with razor bumps. It was bad. So ive been using this electric razor that gets pretty low but its not a clean shave like in this video. Idk if its a sensetive skin problem or what...
Can you please let me know which handle you purchased for the razors. I see the link for the razor but not sure if the handles are universal. Can anyone help me??
