It has been a pile of garbage basically for 25 years now and counting. I thought MAYBE a few years ago with the Celtics, Giannis and Embiid it was going to flip. But it hasn't.

The spurs were indeed the 7 seed, I believe in 2010 with over 50 wins. Sam year the Thunder with Durant, Harden and Westbrook won 50 and were the 8 seed. That was the way it always was back in the 2000s. The West was STACKED and largely has been for the last quarter century.

I remember when LeChina was out there - prob 2 teams at most who were decent but even then we knew those teams were not contenders for the title. He has had great role players for several years now. No excuses.

It was even worse. These east teams can't be taken seriously because their star players are soft and chokers. Back in Lebron's time, there barely were any real stars at all lmao. One of the funniest examples is the 2015 Hawks, four "stars" that wouldn't have got that status in the west (maybe Al, but I doubt it)
While the East was TRASH for virtually 16 straight seasons when LeBron was there, it was never THIS bad. 2006-2007 was close. Pistons won the East with 53 wins and the Cavs were second with 50. No one else had 50. Also 2003-2004 was pretty damn bad too. Two 50 win teams that season, but ONLY FIVE TEAMS OVER .500!

Same here, I literally had Bucks coming out of the east and Nuggets out of the west. But once the Buck replaced the HC for Doc Rivers, I changed my mind.

To be fair East been way more injured all year. Knicks, Cavs, Pacers, Heat, Philly have all had many major injuries. I'll go over some. Heat have their 2 top scorers both under 60 games played. Herro is under 40. Bam isn't at 70. The only player above 70 is Triple J with 71 games played. Philly obviously have Embiid missing half the season. He hasn't hit the 40 games mark yet. Besides that Oubre, Maxey, and Harris (their 3 next leading scorers) have also not hit 70 games yet. Cavs have had Garland and Spida out for large stretches this season. None of the 2 have hit 60. (55 and 53 respectively) Mobley hasn't even hit 50. Those 3 are probably their 3 best players Pacers haven't had an awful amount of injuries. Haliburton hasn't hit 70 games but more importantly the injury clearly impacted his play. Also important to point out how Siakam has only played 38 games because of the trade coming mid season. Pacers are a better team than their record suggests Knicks is pretty obvious. You can't use total games here because half their roster was traded for mid season but a lot of the players they acquired have missed time. OG has only played 19 games when he has been on the Knicks for about 40 potential games. Mitchell Robinson has been out since early season, and Randle is also out for the season. Btw just for comparison Nuggets have had 4/5 starters play 70 games and OKC have had 7 players hit 70, 4 of which are there starters as well. I think Memphis took all the injuries for the West this season lmao. Besides them (and somewhat T wolves) every West team has been crazy healthy. Luka, LeBron, AD and many other west stars have been playing more than they usually do. West also have more teams that are likely to be fraudulent. Knicks and Bucks are more likely to win the chip than Timberwolves and OKC imo. If Bucks didn't have the Doc Rivers curse that is. Idk i might be defensive because i'm a Celtics fan so i don't want their great season diminished by the underperformance of their competition.
This is very well documented. BUT you say Nuggets have had 4 of 5 starters player 70 games. BUT their second best player has missed like 25. The Wolves have been without KAT and Gobert for large stretches. And the Mavericks have been depleted. All of those teams are going to win over 50 games. Same goes for the already thin Suns who lost Beal for much of the season.
Knicks with Julius And OG. Went 14 and 2 and spanked all of the top teams in the league. Nuggets,T wolves, Sixers when Embiid was Healthy. I swear if we stay healthy next Year watch out.

I think it's unfair to judge Jrue's value in terms of scoring. I believe his value is really his defense, so for me, replacing him with Lillard downgraded their chance of winning the chip. Champions historically have the best mix of great offense and great defense in the seasons they won.
How has this happened for so long? In the early 2000s it was the same thing, teams with almost 50 wins missing the playoffs in the West and teams with losing records making the playoffs in the East.

The eastern conference has been weak since 1999. This is the same east LeBronto dominated for 15 seasons and was given all kinds of awards he didn’t deserve. I said it years ago, if LeBron played in the west he would have never made it to 2 straight NBA finals let alone 8.
This decade might have another Finals parity just like in the 70s and most of them coming from Western Conference teams however the NBA are suffering on their ratings just like 50 years ago and much worst due to LeBalco Juice and his son, Bronny and too much shooting 3s (blame Steph curry as well). 😤
I hope in the future that we could see the NBA changes from Eastern and Western to American and National so the conferences won't be so lopsided like the MLB.

I always knew the Dame trade hurting the Bucks defense would come back go haunt them but to fire Adrian Griffin and bring in Glenn Rivers, yeah I never saw that coming. I thought maybe the Bucks can try and go all in on surrounding Dame and Giannis with defenders but even if they did that, yeah their championship hopes were gone we soon as Glenn came into the picture.
The East was considered the stronger Conference in the 80s and 90s, “the beast east”. And then lebrons era it was called the “Leastern Conference”. make of that what you will.
