Thank you so much for this video! They can survive very cold temperatures as well! -30 zone 4a There are 90 different species of Opuntia! Different fruits/colored flowers. Red Dye was collected using the insects that are found on them. They almost took over Australia too. Powerful beautiful plants 🌱

I am very much enjoying your videos. I am a FL native, have acreage a little north of you in 9a central Fl. I have let this property go mostly wild for the last 20 yrs in an effort to let it heal from decades of commercial farming. I have prickly pear all over the property and it is beautiful when it blooms, but it is a menace when you try to walk out there. I read it is a food source for the gopher tortoise, which I want to encourage, although I'm not at all certain what part of the plant they eat.
