Is that a booger or oatmeal in my beard? 🤧

Great vid! I once used moss to clean up a pot. Was like a natural sponge or dish cloth.

Thanks for watching! I actually do enjoy spanish moss as well when I can find it lying around - there's a whole LNT thing wrapped up in doing it responsibly though and I didn't want to stretch out the video too much.

Great tips. I use these and also I carry a 1“ x 1“ piece of green scotch bright pad which does a tremendous job with a little bit of water cleaning the inside even the dirtiest pot or mug.

Thanks for the tip! Any issues with it getting super funky?

@@timbschwartz I have not noticed any funk. I rinse it after every few uses though.

I really enjoy a tiny cut from one of those “shamwow” like towels, and a small container of biodegradable “everything” soap. (Sea2summit has a good one.)

Really appreciate this video… skills videos >> gear videos! I like to use a dab of biodegradable soap during the finger cleaning process, especially if there’s scorched food at the bottom. I also like to drink tea after my evening meal so a final boil in the clean pot means it’s sterilized before putting it away for the night.

So glad you enjoyed the video! The final boil is a great method - I've found a teabag in boiling water makes a great scrub pad.

You're doing the washing up (dishes) and Jupiter is 'cooking' (cold soaking) - very domestic 😉. Thanks for uploading, Tim.👍

I carry a cut down scrub pad in my kit, helps shift stubborn mess, pot related or otherwise. It doesn't have that fresh smell of pine boughs, though

Nice! I always worried about a scrub pad becoming a biohazard after a few days of sitting wet in my pot. Sounds like its been working for you, though!

I carry a small pan scraper. It's a tiny thin piece of plastic and I use them daily at home to clean my pots and pans, so taking them with me on trips just became a no-brainer.

Chia seeds are the worst to clean though! They are like glue. I've stopped adding them to my backcountry granola for that reason 😂 You cannot go wrong following Skurka advice (or recipes... His rice & beans with Fritos will always be a fave!!!). I'll admit though i can't make myself drink the grey water. For that reason i mostly only boil water in my pot these days!
@timbschwartz

Haha! Yes, they can be a bit of a pain, which is why I usually add a ton of water. Rice and beans is still the best! Hands down one of my favorite backpacking meals.

Is that a pot coozie? Or just a sack?
@timbschwartz
@timbschwartz 2 месяца назад
Hey! Just a sack. I have them for all of my pots (not necessarily the zip). They're from Treadlite gear.

Here's another option if you're using a titanium pot and already having a decently sized campfire: just throw the pot in the fire. You don't even need prewash the pot: everything will burn off as the pot glows red hot. You'll be left with a layer of ash that you can easily rinse off. By far the easiest option if you're already planning to have a roaring fire. Just make sure you don't try this with an aluminum pot.

Thanks for the tip Anthony! Ever run into any issues with warping?
@anthonydesouza9983
@anthonydesouza9983 2 месяца назад
Nope, absolutely no warping issues and I regularly bring my Ti pot up to red-hot. There’s a good video by “Lonewolf 902” that showcases it well. Definitely a game changer.
