Dropping that drywall piece into the wall is a sign of a professional installation. Only a homeowner would bother with the screw. But your right about the wife!

I'm planning a kitchen remodel. For my new range hood vent, on that wall I only have an outlet at floor level. I was just going to wire in a new outlet box. Or is there something like this that would be better?

Could you have hard wired it to the outlet if you didn't need the extra cords, or will that get you into trouble with electrical codes?

I like this design because you can plug the TV into a surge protector at the bottom to keep your equipment protected.
@pocketlint82
@pocketlint82 Год назад
I installed an electrical outlet behind the tv that has surge protection built in. And add it to the circuit from the lower outlet. That way you don't need the wierd power jump cable or a surge protector on the floor
@johngiovanni6045

what if u had to g through the fireblock. or needed to go horizontal ?
@pocketlint82
@pocketlint82 Год назад
What about if the fire break is in between? Also, i found they make a surge protected outlet when I hung my TV. Added that on the same circuit as the lower outlet and installed directly behind the tv. and then I didn't need that weird power jump cable down low or surge protector. Lots cleaner imo. But this is not a bad way if there's an entertainment cabinet that covers it all up
@TheFunnyCarpenter
@TheFunnyCarpenter Год назад
If your above the fire blocking, I’d try and stay just above and then drill a hole in it through the box opening.

Can I feed my power chord for my chromecast through the wall, or should I have a dual outlet for both the TV and the chromecast plug ins
@jackies_world
@jackies_world 21 день назад
They sell a dual outlet kit for you to plug it into the top portion behind the TV. I have that one and I'm currently trying to figure out how to do this install with a fireblock and insulation in the way. The only indicator I can help you find it is to search powerbridge two-ck. Hope that helps!

Do not feed any power cords through the wall
@gort5583
@gort5583 Год назад
Looks good but I have some reservations about the power jumper lead as it appeared to be a doubled ended male connector which is what is known as a kill lead. Removing the wrong end of this lead with the power on would expose powered prongs which would be rather dangerous.
@TheFunnyCarpenter
@TheFunnyCarpenter Год назад
It would not be possible to power up the prongs in this configuration, its essential just the male end of a cord.
@jdemuro1
@jdemuro1 7 месяцев назад
The other end of it is the TV. Unless the TV is capable of energizing the male prongs, you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Are your walls not insulated??? Gonna be challenging getting the wired down behind the wall with a bunch of insulation
@jdemuro1
@jdemuro1 7 месяцев назад
Interior walls usually aren't...but not always. Depends on the house. But yeah it'll be a pain to get it through if they are. In that case it's helpful to use a wall fish, which is a rolled up length of stiff (but still flexible) wire that you can use to push through the wall, then attach your cables onto the end of it (electrical tape is best for this), then pull the cables through to the other hole, and detatch from the fish.

You should mention in the title this is for Americans only or for "cardboard walls" only. In Europe there's typically no "cardboard walls", but a proper brick walls. I always find it hilarious seeing those "cardboard walls", but here we go, there's actually one advantage of having them.

You've not seen many new builds then. Exterior walls will be brick or more likely block, interior non load bearing walls will be stud and drywall, aka plasterboard.

He did. U just didn't pay attention. So, when he pushed the three wires inside he then screwed it, then gave it a tug to make sure the wires were tightly screwed in. He screwed it into the wall, then jumped the power with the provided cord. Meaning, plug the provided double headed cord into the new outlet and the existing outlet. That's how u get the power. Hope that help

That thing is so janky. Why not run a new box up top and panels beside them for the connectors? Or in many cases may just need power since it may just have an appletv that can be mounted up top or a tv that has android tc or something built in.
