46 year old Electrician here in Vegas. Had my Left done in January and my Right done in April. Mine was a result of horrible inertial heel spurs that were turning both my achilles into shredded broccoli. I’m going on 6 weeks for the second one, best decision I ever made
I ruptured my Achilles tendon in 1984. When it tore, it went up my leg and they had to go in and pull it down to mend it. After 4 weeks they switched from a full-leg cast to a walking cast. When they put on the new cast, my ankle wasn't positioned correctly and I couldn't put weight on it. They had to reposition my ankle, and replace the cast. Boy, it was rank down there when it finally came off.
Sorry for that accident, it's a bit inevitable alas to guys who do stuff. Our little battle injuries. PS: with a good life style you're still in your peak at 46y.
That was a surprise. And a coincidence, since I had a non op rupture 3 years ago, but somehow not as trying as the partial tear in my other ankle. That thing has fooled me into thinking it was healed, when in fact it had another 20% to go. That actually happened 3 times, and each time it’s a major setback. I’ve been trying to recover for 6 months! But I’m closing in on it now, and I didn’t have to lose my calf muscle in the process. One essential tip about crutches; get a set of the advanced MobiLegs. I could Not stand the regular style. These are a thousand percent better. And, I also could not have done without the iWalk 3. I could ditch the crutches and peg leg all over. Ok…happy tendon healing.
4:59 I watched this part like 5x and it still appears to have a large gap. I know it doesn't, since it's brown, but this title says make the gaps "disappear" and they don't have the appearance of being any different
And there I was thinking you were taking time out to sharpen your chisels! ;) Very helpful video, full of good advice. Great to see you recovering nicely. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work.
I was leery of what you were telling us until you said the magic words I was waiting for: "You're not a doctor but you did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night."
Yeah, it is a pass for me. Already experimented what worked well on grout, several areas and types of grout, not just one floor, including the bathroom. Literally the only thing worked worse than Oxi clean was plain water. Even vinegar and Dawn worked better. Gotta be paid, cuz Oxi sucks. I am old enough to be your mother, used it so many times from when it first came out to recently, and always disappointed. I will give up, then try few years later, still always a big fail. Even laundry never saw it do anything. Only thing it may work on is blood, but I just use hydrogen peroxide.
This is super helpful and thank you for taking the time to document your recovery! I broke my wrist last summer and I found RU-vid video testimonials to be even more helpful than my doctors as far as giving me practical, daily advice as to what to expect as the days and weeks went by.... I found the most important thing was to celebrate the small milestones to help me stay positive.... Keep your chin up! Love your channel!
So with the information that you said, you are not comfortable with Anastasia and going under? I understand it’s scary but brother what if it happens again?
I felt good avoiding surgery, but if I have to I will. I had my knee operated on before. I talked to a couple surgeons before I decided and felt comfortable with an early weight bearing non surgical approach. Like I said in the video my best days are likely behind me so if I don’t reach the pinnacle of performance I’ll be ahight.
I have a tear in my shoulder I’m 43 been working in a factory for 20 years I’m in physical therapy right now for 6 weeks a little better… it’s best to avoid surgery at all costs but age is the enemy… I will definitely pray for you brother and family for full healing I enjoy your video s thank you 🙏
I had foot surgery in my twenties and had to wear the ugly shoe and was on crutches for six months. My recovery was longer than usual because I got a bad infection. I got pretty good on crutches, even climbing up and down stairs.
I had a total hip replacement back in December and the exercise regiment was crucial to getting to walk pain free. With the hip stairs were very important to getting strength back in hip. Noe I am doing fine.
Man, I ruptured mine 3 yrs ago running from some wasps. My Ring camera captured it, along with the POP that I thought I heard, but figured I just imagined it. My wife wants me to post it, though I don't know if I want to. Anyway, three years later and my left calf is still half the size of my right leg. Best of luck and don't over do it.
Thank you for taking time to share those parts of your life that are real too. Seems like no one's every day is all rose peddels and birthday wishes, but at least your positive outlook is helping. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Mine was misdiagnosed with a pulled tendon. It was only months later that I was finally sent for ultrasound and was diagnosed properly. Far too late. And being diabetic, surgery in my lower extremities is a non-starter. So I'm pretty sure my tendon never healed. The other muscles in my legs have compensated, but my walk is completely different now.
So, I have been run over by a truck - 3 years of recovery - yes I do boast that I am "Ford Tough!" - it was a Ford. My advice to everyone is to get an Athletic Therapist for recovery and an Architect for everything else yo might need advice on!
@@TheFunnyCarpenter On the contrary, there are also several helpful tips for other people. For instance, I had no idea you could buy those sleeves to protect your body when you bathe. Just knowing those things are available helps anyone with an injury to an arm or leg. Your video is much more useful than you may think.
Glad you went non surgical. Did you do the brace after I mentioned my ankle brace? Mine was a wrap, with 4 carbon shafts, a huge lace, with 4 wraps. Remember it took my tendon over 2 years to get back to standard, and another year to reduce to regular size. Another thing is if doing flooring, do not wear Chinese made shoes.. go ankle brace footwear, because then you won't get to the inflamed state. Wish you a miraculous healing. Ps...I'm on Vancouver Island, bc born and raised. Edit...man i am so thankful my issue was near my ankle. Not sure how the calf gets effected, so this is something new to me.
Thanks for the recommendation buddy. So far 3 days into walking in a shoe again, I haven't used any type of brace. Hopefully I can ease back into it and get walking normal in a month or two.
@@TheFunnyCarpenter it sounds your tear was higher up. I never knew about yours, and the few others here, that style, ever, so I am thankful mine was low on the tendon.
