You obviously dont own land...or anything for that matter....these people were on my property drinking, littering and trapping illegally....I hunt, shoot and live on this property....I pay insurance on this land...folks trespass, drink, litter and fall down and then sue me....you just dont get it Ryan.....stay away you dont belong here....my land is worth fighting for....your forefathers thought so too......maybe you forgot?
I wouldn't care if it was deer or fish or frog and so on you don't do it on private property and if I see it on mine I do the samething tell you once and only once to not do it on my land and don't let me see it or you uninvited on my property again after that and it happens it's target practice don't blame a farmer blame the trespassers but most of all ask just don't think he wouldn't mind have a little respect to see ASK
I know this was originally posted last year, but what the heck. Laws up in my area state that you, the landowner, have to put up no trespassing sings all around your land at a distance (If I remember correctly) of 50'. Not sure what the laws are in your area about that, but I agree: Get permission before going on someone else's property - especially any agricultural land. And be respectful! Nothing ticks me off more than some little m*therf8ckers who littler and destroy the land.
I have been living in western NC my whole life. There is an unspoken gentleman's agreement that you can access your neighbors land for gathering food from nature as long as you do no harm. It is best to ask permission! But here in the mountains there are vast forest lands that belong to land and timber company's. It is impossible to contact those entities. You are not trespassing if the land is not posted. You are not poaching if you are catching minnows with a trap to go fishing with.Posting your land in the country with purple paint and signs is bad for everyone. It is like a cancer!I would rather meet a young man behind my house carrying a hand full of squirrels and make a friend for life then make every one they are kin to an enemy for life. There is an old saying." When in Rome do as the Romans do."When you move to the country. Make friends with your neighbors.I promise you the guy setting the minnow traps Knows how to fish local and where. Don't kick a gift horse in the mouth!
As neighbor to all in the area be an ambassador and talk to the poachers by your self and be friendly... some day in the future, if they live near by you may need them to help you vice a versa!!!!!!!! Second, if the previous owner before had a policy in place that they could harvest the minnows then you have to change this by a simple conversation!!!!!!!!!!!
Love your videos. Just a couple suggestions: a light misting with sugar water will reduce the flying to almost nil. Feeds the girls a bit, too. Also, in temperate areas where it might still be cold at night like here in mid-MD, I recommend leaving the mite board in to reduce cold drafts, and to hang the queen cage between frames so the bees can better cluster around her to keep her warm. We only have about 15 acres in a rural part of Kentucky. Stuff kept getting stolen from a little cabin we had there. Believe it or not, the sheriff's department in this little county managed to match DNA from a cigarette butt left in the cabin to that of a notorious ne'er-do-well thief in the area and dipshit wound up in jail.
someone on your land I guess is always circumstantial. if it was my property and they called and explained their fishing intentions I may be willing to set boundaries on them using my creek (although my property has no creek/stream lol) because I normally find it quite easy to befriend a fellow outdoorsman
So....as a land owner...you give permission for Bill (a hypothetical guy down the road).....Bill brings cuzn Sue...and her 3 kids....who love throwing sticks in the pond....next week Sue brings her new boyfriend Tyrone....and his 3 kids....so now there are 45 sticks stuck in the stand pipe at the pond...3 old containers of worms...cigarette butts and beer cans left behind....3 weeks later an attorney calls me...and says Sue's ex-boyfriend Tyron's kids have an infection on their knee and the kid may loose his leg....and they want my insurance to pay for the hospital bill and lawsuit........NOBODY IS FISHING OR HUNTING ON MY PROPERTY....THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS.....IF YOU WORK...BUY YOUR OWN PLACE....IF YOU CANT AFFORD IT....GO TO THE PARK....MY PLACE IS NOT THE PARK! WOOOOOO!!
I had a guy disregarding my No Trespassing signs and driving his ATV's under a cable gate onto the land...day, night, and sometimes even spot lighting, for deer I assume. I wouldn't have cared, but the mere fact that he disregarded my many signs and clearly planning to poach pissed me off...who does that except and arrogant SOB?. He was also causing some erosion on the my newly seeded land from his tire tracks, which started causing runoff ditches...but I still let it go. Then one night at 2330 I get an alert on my phone, and there's a pic of him going up my road shining a spotlight. 30 minutes later, there a pic of him coming down. Then a pic of him shining his flashlight on my camera. Next pic was blank green screen, and I realized he must have damaged my camera. I grabbed my AR and went out to the property...sure enough, he had tried to remove the camera, and when unable to, opened it and stole the sim card. So now game on...I was looking forward to catching the guy. I checked with several neighbors and found out who he is from my photos of his ATV...then went to his place. I was very polite and neighborly about it since its a small country town. Basically said "put yourself in my shoes...I have no idea what you are up too...blah blah, I know you wouldn't want people doing that on your land". Anyhow, got my sim card back from him without making an enemy, and haven't seen him since. But really, WTF is wrong with people? I'd never do such things on someone else's marked land.
This is old but I am glad you just talked to him. What he done was wrong but I don't believe he will do it again. I have had the same thing on my farm. However I still let people hunt and fish.

Just a quick update Stoney we've done a fairly long inspection today on a main hive,found the queen tons of capped brood and pearly white larvae pollen,honey. Looking great for the coming season added a second brood box. Yeah real pleased,sun was in out in out darn clouds it's like doing the Hokey Cokey. Tried to find eggs but it was pretty tough to find them with the darn darn clouds. Also bought a new queen for a queen less hive which is pretty cool.yup looking forward to the coming season . Peace
good to hear, I'll be posting the 1st honey bee check this weekend...had similar issues, always take a flashlight with ya when ur checking the bees just in case...as I get older I need more light...but definitely not reading glasses :/
Talk to them and see what they say. I had the same problem. Once I spoke with them it was a honest mistake. Then I gave them their camera and traps back and also gave them permission. Just my experience and option.

I say press charges. You can't tolerate trespassers. People sneaking around your property is just plain creepy. Besides it being a liability issue, it is also a safety issue. You never know what people's motives are. Next ones could be up to no good. Set a precedent and put up plenty of posted signs. Just subscribed the other day. Love your videos. After watching the first few, you mentioned you were near Stoneville, NC. Had no idea you were so close. We are just up the road in Martinsville, VA. What a small RU-vid world. lol.

Talk to him face to face. Make him pay you or bring you fish to eat from what he catches off those minnows.....LOL...he is probably the guy up the road at the country store selling minnows to you.
In California, the state owns the rivers and creeks, even if they flow through your land. People are allowed to be up to the high water mark of the river for things like gold panning. I would check with your state and see if there is not a similar law in North Carolina.
I know how you feel about trespassers, I have to deal with them also. I normally just ask them to stay off my property. I also have signs. I don't think i would go and call the law for some minnow traps in a creek. If they want them back they will contact you and you can ask them not to trespass on your property. if they don't want the traps back, hopefully you will not have to deal with them again. They should get the message that they are not welcome. Have you ever ventured on to someones land uninvited? Karma has a way of coming around.Just deal with it like you would like to be delt with if the shoe was on the other foot. If it becomes a reoccuring problem then you may have to seek other solutions. Have fun with the bees.
So the problem wasnt so much minnows. the problem was these guys were drinking alcohol and leaving trash, and had a blatant disreguard for anyone around them. There's a huge problem where I live with "sportsmen" leaving trash everywhere they go. Watch the next few vlogs....I got them on camera and they called, it's pretty clear what they were doing...leaving me a mess. You'll like the vlog that I catch them! You'll hear the majority of the phone conversation I had with this guy, he was apologetic
I'm trying to get as many people as possible to contact their state associations to demand that laws be passed that all package bees coming into their state be treated for mites. Either with oxalic acid or something else. If you buy packages check the mite counts. If the supplier isn't treating the package you'll have mites. Start monitoring the mites in your packages and treat before the first capping of brood.
As far the trespassers.Take their equipment,and leave sign there.Telling them you have it.And probably you will never hear from the again.They will the message.And your friend.Bees do sting.The sting very good for some health problems,like arthritis.It's help me!Love your videos.I want to see more about your bees.Thank you.
I started watching ur channel recently one of my friends recommend it to me... If I were u.. I would pull out my colt and made them a target practice out of those trespasses... It's simple.. People who own no land and enter into others land should have an example Wat happens when u enter others ranch without permission
Well I'm not a lawyer and not from NC. In some states though if you can get in the creek and stay there you are not trespassing but navigating a waterway.
Love the Vlog !!!! I understand that it always better to be able to settle thing man to man and just let him know it's your property and stay off, but I would always have law enforcement deal with these situation. The only reason I say this is it only takes a second for something to go horribly wrong and you mean a lot to a lot of people and Im sure they want you around for many more years. Josh just a quick question for you!. Have you ever had a hive abscond or anyone else watching this video. Ok I watched a video on installing package bees,the guy didn't shake the package he took 5 frames out of a 10 frame box in the centre of the brood box. He took the queen cage out and placed the package into the hive including the caged queen minus the cork. Then put the inner cover and roof back on the hive. This allowed the bees to gently leave the package box and get used to their new home. No absconding bees this way.👍. He was saying by shaking the box prior to dumping them into hive unsettles them and they have more of a chance to leave the hive that way. Just hope this info helps
Hmmm...interesting tactic....you may have something there...I've tried both ways ...never had a package leave but I have lost a swarm that way, wrustled them up and they left the very next day
Hope you get him, and Iv installed 3 packages of bees so far got another one coming in two days. O I dont have a bee suite eather and have not been stung when handling them.
I'm not sure what your laws are but here in NS any angler can fish any creek. They can cross your uncultivated land to get to the creek. This in no way means they can damage your property.
When someone comes down my creek and leaves litter and drinks alcohol it does damage my property...in North Carolina the stream must be navicable by boat.....not foot traffic...check out the video where I busted them....the person that tresspassed actually called the local wildlife officer.....found out he was not allowed to trespass.....my land.....my creek...my privacy...my hunting and fishing area.....now...this may change in the future we shall see
Factory hive bases SUCK! I've always made a solid hive base on a deep brood box. I even painted it inside with oil-base paint. Learned this from an old beeker. Reduces humidity in the hives, I still have hives made by the Honey King 60 years ago in use.
I only know what happens because I watched the video that would come after this one, but I would have done the same thing and yes I too would feel the same way about someone trespassing on my land and I for sure would call the authorities if they were to continue doing so
I would'nt press charges but i would let LE know whats going on, just in case this guy starts trouble. Josh do you have no trespassing / private property signs posted along the creek? If so i would not give this guy his traps back because he was full aware of what he was doing....oh yeah and take your sidearm when going to talk to this guy.
Sometimes it actually is a misunderstanding regarding boundaries, but given all of the No Trespassing signs it seems pretty obvious that they knew they were trespassing. I don't blame you a bit for feeling violated, -and disrespected. The 2nd Amendment sign should help deter most, but considering this is a frequent event and unplanned drama can happen, I would let LE know what's going on to cover yourself in the future.
That's what I pay taxes for...to avoid conflict...and that's what the sheriff's office is for...to avoid conflict....many a life lost from a boastful approach when law enforcement would be a better option...speaking as a former law enforcement officer myself
Hey stoney Ray from ontario Canada . If the trespasser is driving to your property maybe wait for him to return with the minnows by the road. perhaps some kind of lazor beam sensor could be used that when the beam is broken you are alerted immediately . phone in their plate number to someone to protect yourself. Let them know you have given their plate number to someone and talk it out . get er done . woo !!! hope this helps Ray
Does the land have posted signs. If he has the balls to call you I would just have a conversation with him if he continues to keep trespassing then I'd press charges.

Get used to it ask him who gave him permission to be in that Creek the previous owner probably let him in there for years maybe he'll end up being your best friend if not kindly asked him to remove the traps if you don't smashum I had a guy trap and Coon in our Creek never asked just snuck in there I caught him I told him next time he'll be taking a dirt nap oh and I smashed his traps
If y'all to him if he gets lippie then I'd sick the law on him or if he comes back after you've talked to him, back it could be a kid also. Talk to them and see what their story is they could be hungry and just trying to get some bait.

Right....like he or she doesnt know they aren't on their own property....not sure where you live ...if your out west I can understand the thought process...here in the east there is very little government land....and believe me folks know they are trespassing....I dont want my place to look like fort knox but I'll probably have to put up signs and paint the trees in the future...hate to do that to my forest and boundaries
here in MO. the state owner all running water and 5 vertical foot from the bank. standing water, so long as it isn't fed by running water belongs to the land owner.

People come on my farm and throw out trash...there's no reason for anyone to be here without permission. You obviously don't own any land...and it's completely ludicrous to think that a beekeeper is somehow profiting off their neighbors flowers.....to even have that hateful thought process is ridiculous to me...honey bees benifit everyone...and it takes millions of flowers to make a tablespoon of honey

If you had read my post you would have read that I agree with you about the trash. The local you throw off your land may be the local who volunteers for the fire dept and saves your home. How can you condemn someone when you never posted the property? do you also approve of letting your dog crap on another yard? I mean it is only fertilizer and everyone benefits. So..check out the next video where I bust these guys on camera and get a phone conversation with them...here in NC they have laws that protect "Navicable Waterways" which means if you can take a boat down the river its public property.... this however didnt fit that description...the guy was up to no good, drinking beer and throwing his cans down!

Call the person who will hand out the bigger fine I’d get law inforcement involved that way who ever it is can’t sue you or say you are in the wrong some how that you threatened them or something like that they can say you discriminated against them because you sre prejeted against people with their type of hair cut or some such bullshit people will try to sue you over anything like your a male and if a woman is involved she’s likely to go the hole me too thing with you just because you caught them in the wrong
Next time you catch someone trespassing just tell them; "The last trespasser died from lead poisoning" Seriously tho, I'd inform the Sherriff, but tell him/her to not say or do anything to the trespassers unless it happens again.

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer do your bees collect pollen from your property only or should the neighbors let you steal from them? Do you compensate other land owners for what you steal? maybe the neighbors should spray pesticide on all flowering plants so you don't steal from them. See how this goes?
I like your channel but the state owns the creek and waterways that are "navigable" by any means IE Kayak. The creek looks navigable in the videos ive seen by the definition, even though it is small.It could be considered public property and you could have committed theft by taking the minnow traps. No different than someone taking a tree stand they find in state forest or fishing poles off a boat dock. "Under the public trust doctrine, as applied in North Carolina, citizens have the right to use the state’s navigable waters for the exercise of public trust rights, without the consent of riparian owners, i.e., the owners of the land adjacent to those waters. Public trust rights are defined by common law, and ‘include, but are not limited to, the right to navigate, swim, hunt, fish, and enjoy all recreational activities in the watercourses of the State and the right to freely use and enjoy the State’s ocean and estuarine beaches and public access to the beaches.’” N.C.G.S. 1-45.1
Thanks for liking the channel...you are wrong...the creek in this case is less than 1 inch deep in places...with some washed out holes...it's illegal to trap without a proper tag on your trap...it's also illegal to trespass through my fields....if you havn't seen the video yet....check out when we caught them...the guy admits that he was doing wrong......now....would it hold up in court.....would a judge rule in my favor.....who knows really...depends on the judge.....and if he is a land owner So....let's spark some more thought....my farm pond is a damed up creek....do folks have the right to fish and recreate there? Would it be legal? Since it it a waterway? What are your thoughts? Just curious...I like a good debate
How many mountain trout streams are less than 1 inch deep in places? The state still own them, not private land owners. Also in NC it doesn't appear you need a tag or license for a minnow trap. I would agree they were trespassing IF you had your land posted. You stated it was not posted. I would remove the "My farm pound is a dammed up creek" line. Unless you have a permit from the Army corps of engineers and the EPA it was likely an illegal made pond by damming up the creek, and you could be fined up to $67,000 per day until its removed. If you did not build the pond but bought the property that way they could still ask you to remove the dam and return the creek to its original condition.
