The Eaters of the Force FINALLY Revealed! 

I love how increasingly lovecraftian the High Republic has been getting.

The Force eaters are like kryptonite to the Jedi.

It just occurred to me the Nameless are similar to Metroids - they drain the life force (or just the Force) from their victims, and leave them as calcified husks when they drained all their life energy.

Do you think this finally answers the question that has been poised throughout this era and that is: “What do the Jedi fear the most?” Is the answer presented to us as “Fear itself”since the levellers induce and heighten what the Jedi fear through hallucinations?

Love how the greatest strength of the Jedi is twisted into a weakness.

I like the idea of these. Monsters who are overwhelming in the force that, essentially, disable any force sensitive they target.

This is exactly what kind of threat I've wanted to see the Jedi face against for a while and they look very suffiently terrifying. I'm a bit behind on the High Republic but I'm assuming the Leveler is like a king of these creatures like how the Drengir had the Great Progenitor or there is some connection at least. I remember a big deal was made about one specific creature Ro had in captivity and now there's multiple of them. That would be my guess

I agree that they aren't immune to the Force, they seem very similar to the Nazgûl (Ringwraiths in LotR), who fill their enemies which such abject Terror that they're incapable of fighting back. So cool to see this in Star Wars! Maybe "the veil" references that these are from outside the known galaxy (like the Vong), and managed to make it through to the SW galaxy (pierced the veil)? Also "the Nameless" is probably inspired by the Nameless Things from LotR such as the Watcher in the Water, which are said by Gandalf to be older than Sauron, and refuses to describe them for fear merely talking about them would "darken the light of day".

The ysalamiri from the original Thrawn Trilogy had a great hypothetical explanation. Because there were predators on their planet that hunted them using the Force, they adapted an aura that made it impossible to touch the Force in their presence. Evolution!

Called it from the beginning, as did many others! Nice job everybody who did. I wonder how it’ll connect to the prophecy of the chosen one, like it says in Master and Apprentice. I doubt they’ll tell us outright, but once it’s over we can probably put the pieces together in our heads.

Great to see varied kinds of threats like these, it's a huge galaxy out there so there are bound to be some lovecraftian horrors.

Probably one of my favorite additions to Star Wars are these eldritch horrors. Man I hope to see one in either animation or live action one day lol.

I hope this all gets mentioned in issue #2 of Eye Of The Storm, cause, within the adult novels, We never even hear the titles, "The Nameless", or, "Eaters Of The Force". We also never even hear of any Sith involvement, either. That would certainly be an interesting development: The destruction of The Jedi, due to a Former Jedi who turned to Dark Side Alchemy. I have made connections to the Ysalamiri of Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy, as well; since, they have definite similarities. I may have to buy the Trail Of Shadows comic series (though, I have not liked my experiences with Daniel Jose Older's comics, so far), since it seems required reading for The High Republic. I am very curious and intrigued to see how all of the present chaos connects to the time period 150 years before it. I'm most interested in reading about Porter Engle, in his heyday...basically, his middle years. I'm guessing, whatever crime/wrong-doing/betrayal that involves The Evereni, took place then, or even hundreds of years before. Thanks for the briefing.

I still think the prophecy about many Jedi being sacrificed to cleanse the sin done to the nameless more likely refers to the Clone Army and the Jedi Purge that happens after that. But an interesting thing to note nonetheless.

The lullaby reminds me of Doctor Who. Zagreus sits inside your head, Zagreus lives among the dead, Zagreus sees you in your bed, And eats you when you're sleeping.

I haven't been following this series much but the Nameless almost seem a lot like Pennywise from It where they are supernatural feeding off the force like Pennywise feeds on fear and they both can take the form of something the person fears.

Here's an idea involving the nameless. Since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has things related to the High Republic, Cal Kestis could find one of them and use it to fight Vader and the Inquisitors.

This is probably one of the most frightening things to come out of the Disney canon. Another Legends comparison might by Darth Nihilus's Force draining powers. In a way, the idea of the Nameless feeding on the Force brings some similarities in mind to the Forceless from my fanfiction, Paranormalities. Unlike the Ysalamiri, the Forceless aren't immune to the Force so much as they are born completely devoid of it (the reason for their existence being that they are a byproduct of wounds in the Force, basically the Force attempting a patch job on itself), but at the same time, they are attracted to the living Force (and this is at their most primal motivations, not counting more sapient motivations they may develop like seeking to dominate others). But instead of draining the living Force from them, they usually possess living beings to taste the Force (at best, it's a symbiotic bond where the Forceless lets their host do what they please, or at worst, a full body takeover with the victim still conscious; it all depends on the motives of the Forceless and the Herald that shaped their personality via the original bond). As for which one would be the more terrifying of the two? While the Forceless have their own presence that makes Jedi uncomfortable, it isn't dangerous to them. On the other hand, Forceless are capable of becoming sapient, and are no more capable of good or evil than any other sapient. It would also depend on whether you see being possessed, mutated, and enslaved for who knows how long (and the eviler Forceless Collectives can absorb the living Force to have you resurrected later if you are killed) or being forced to experience extreme fear while being slowly calcified to death (and implicitly prevented from moving on to the Force afterlife by having your soul destroyed) as the worse fate to suffer (either way, they're both worse than death).

It makes me wonder if “Levelers” are related to Abaloth? How would the Son or the Daughter of the Celestials be able to contain or destroy these things? I have been a expanded universe of Star Wars and horror movies since I was a child. If Disney ever does anything with the license of Star Wars. How many people would go see a R rated Star Wars movie with the Blackwing Virus? Seen in both the books Red Harvest and Death Troopers? I would, (as long as Lucas stays far far away from it). Still, if there was no way to avoid his hands on things. Seeing Jar Jar Binks infected with that virus would be hilarious.

Great video. Brings a semi- related to my mind. What do you think the chances are of seeing the Yuuzhan Vong return? Always felt they were too unique in the Star Wars universe to forget about.

Hi Alex I have a question for the Q&A well actually two since Mando has the darksaber currently do you is possible we could get a prequel episode where we see tar vizla create the darksaber and also since Palpatine beat maul in single combat while he was using it would that make Palpatine the sabers rightful owner and technically vader since he killed Palpatine

I enjoy so much content from this channel, but it seems like I have to choose between being subscribed, or avoiding spoilers, since I read the trade paperbacks of these comics. Y’all have just posted so many comic spoilers before the TPB is out, even in the title and thumbnail. Which is a huge bummer.

What confused me when reading the books was, was the Leveler the same thing as the Nameless. I now know it is and seems to be just 1 of many however is there anything special about the Leveler? Why does it even have the name Leveler, why didn't they just call it the Nameless, they could've still had the reveal that there are in fact more of them. Or is it that the Leveler is like the Queen bee. Is it bigger and better than the rest?

I really struggle with the Nameless because the entire idea of “eating” something that is literally both omnipresent and dynamic-the Force-is nonsensical. I trust the authors enough to assume we’ll get a good explanation. E.g. are they eating the midichlorians? is this how midichlorians are discovered? …thus leading to understanding the Force in a materialistic way in the PT and all of the issues that entails… But yeah, so far this is the most annoying and disappointing part of the High Republic, which I have adoringly loved, otherwise.

I'm still mad over Orla jereni
