Andor Season One - 135 Easter Eggs

Despite being lighter on easter eggs, cameos, and the usual references Star Wars movies and series have become known for, I still found over one hundred in the first season of Andor, and there were some deep cuts in there! Here is everything I picked out.

Crazy how this show was genuine good all the way while still having fun Easter eggs. I never understand that “criticism” if you can even call it that.
@Myriip
@Myriip Год назад
Because it is not really criticism most of the time, just some unripe minds crying.
@danieltravelstead
@danieltravelstead Год назад
It’s not really references that draw criticism. It’s characters we’ve seen before appearing again and again without a whole lot of logical reasoning. With the Star Wars universe being so big, outside of the main story we shouldn’t be getting things that don’t really make sense.

If you have a compelling story then the easter eggs and cameos won't be so jarring. Remember, they introduced moff gideon to us by having him go on a rant about e-web cannon and how it was used to wipe out some tribe etc etc only to end his diatribe with I'll be back to finish all of you off after dark? lol

@@ScoDiddley Well, it's the first Star Wars show that really deserves consideration. Shows like Mando, Clone Wars and Rebels were fun and all, don't get me wrong, but Andor is the first one with genuinely powerful acting, and actors of Stellan Skarsgard and Andy Serkis' caliber.
@nlptrckshmn5535
@nlptrckshmn5535 Год назад
Mando was nominated for best drama one year I think. If that sets bar for how good a SW show needs to be for Emmy nomination then I would think that Andor is a sure thing. That said, the Emmys always screws up.
@andyb1653
@andyb1653 Год назад
@@nlptrckshmn5535 Was it, now? Hadn't heard about that. Good on 'em. Ultimately it doesn't matter though, because you're right about the Emmys. Like the Oscars, it's more of an industry circle-jerk than anything else. It's more about favoritism and virtue-signaling than the actual quality of the productions, actors and crews nominated.
@lukasky03

What I appreciate about these Easter Eggs is that they may not all be intended by the showrunners/writers. Tony Gilroy has said in multiple interviews that his art department puts things in scenes that he’s not aware of and Pablo Hidalgo has input. But story comes first rather than canon (although Season 2 will necessarily set up Rogue One). Oddly enough, and to our delight and surprise, setting aside reverence to SW lore has resulted in the most compelling storytelling in the whole franchise. I’m in awe of what they’ve all created and can’t wait for Season 2.
@user-yq9im9dk9z
@user-yq9im9dk9z Год назад
Why setting aside reverence to the lore results in less continuity errors than supposedly shows that were made by "fans"? Also I wouldn't say Kenobi had reverence for the lore, because they tried to make them fight between two movies.

I loved all the references to The Force Unleashed, The Old Republic games, and the Sequel Trilogy. I didn't notice the Luggabeast and the giant Cyborg scrapper from Jakku were there till now. I also liked the Canto Bight Protocol Droids on Coruscant, it's a great design that shows droids without a 'face' to restrict their sentience. Also, Luthen's shop is awesome. I like that he has is Exar Kun's Dark Holocron, and Starkiller's armor, which I like to think was intended to be purchased by the Emperor before Starkiller's sacrifice in The Force Unleashed.
@Lr.Laecro.Lirus3445
@Lr.Laecro.Lirus3445 Год назад
I disagree a lot. The Luggabeast was a very hairstreching choice to make, because this creature is only native to Jakku and not some other world somewhere. It's like seeing Orang-Utans in the middle of Paris. And Casino-droids on a spaceport don't make much sense either.

Same as OT trilogy fans, and Prequel era fans, and Legend/EU fans. That said, I really dislike the sequel trilogy and references to it. Andor's writing was so good that I didn't care that references were made to it quite frequently at all. It shows that when you have a good story with excellent writers you could reference anything, like the country Mexico, or Austin Powers and, I'd nod and say "Yup that fits". That's what good writing and, a clear vision of a story can do. Suck you in and make you believe anything.

Ord Mantel was first mentioned in the BBC Star Wars Radio plays created in 1978. It was voiced by the original actors (Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, etc.) and involved a heist by the trio (plus C3PO and R2D2) to steal Leia's own money from the bank on that planet. They are interrupted by both Imperials and a bounty hunter looking to take Han Solo back to Jabba the Hut. This adventure was considered canon because it was referenced in dialog in the Empire Strikes Back.
