I’m becoming Orthodox. I had been a Protestant Evangelical for 24 yrs and read deeply into all kinds of theology books, Ancient Near Eastern studies, and then God awakened me that being my own pope wasn’t how things were supposed to be. I read some early church fathers, found Eastern Orthodoxy, and the rest is history.

Thank You, Fr. Mikhail. Just for reference, two very large Arian groups that emerged in the 19th Century are the Jehovah’s Witnesses and The Church of Latter-Day Saints ( Mormons). There are other sizable groups (Worldwide Church of God Armstrong, etc) that have emerged since in the last 150 years. However, the JW and the LDS remain the two largest.

Your lectures evoke tears in my soul. How the evil one deceives even those who have been selected by God. As a Greek Orthodox married to a Russian Orthodox, my depth for Orthodoxy is forever growing, due to the ineffable treasuring of blessings that Orthodoxy inflames in my soul. I thank you for the time you take to present these lectures. I look forward with much anticipation for the next lecture, which I've yet to see. God bless you and guide you Father. Amen

(Edit, forgive the silly YT account name I am serious about my comments) Wow I now know I know NOTHING about Christianity and its true History. I have studied World History as a hobby since I was a boy but never thought to study the history of the faith I had been brought up in. I now know if I had, I would've had the desire to leave these heretical California Churches my parents brought me to and would've had the desire to join the one and only true Church. I've always been a "first come, first serve" kind of guy. And the Orthodox Church is the First, so by my own silly human logic and guided by the Holy Spirit I now know where to go. I truly would sit and listen to a 30 hour lecture father but you being a family man like me, I know you are way to busy. So I say thank you and God bless you and yours. I don't know where to start here in Califoria to begin my Conversion though. I'm still lost.

You should definitely look into the life of Saint John of Shanghai and San Francisco. He is one of the most beloved modern day saints of our holy Church and he lived and walked and worked wonders right were you live. He is the seed of holy Orthodoxy in California. He lies in the Cathedral "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in San Francisco.

Father, your online apologetics with Chase was very helpful. Thsnk you. Please do more of them as there are so many heresies & traps out there that we can fall into. Questions: What did the Monophysites call themselves over 60 years ago, before they started calling themselves O"O"? There was a channel you recommended that I didn't know about. It sounded like "Kai & Louis". What was the correct name of the channel?

It is interesting how when you look up who baptised St Constantine the Great, it says "Arian Priest Eusebius of Nicomedia". No mention that he repented. Very misleading, likely intentionally.

Father, how did the so-called Apostles' Creed come about, and how does it relate to the composition of the Nicene Creed? The latter seems to be an expansion of the former, yet most Orthodox histories are related in a way that would lead us to believe that the Nicene Creed was composed from scratch on the spot, with no mention of the Apostles' Creed. I know that we do not make use of the Apostles' Creed in the Orthodox Church as the Catholic Church does because of the canon that forbids the use of Creeds other than the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed, for which reason the Apostles' Creed is virtually unknown in Orthodox circles, but surely its mere existence is of scholarly worth?

From this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostles%27_Creed Apostle's Creed was created in the France in 5th century. So it is very strange why RCC adopted it because that creed is younger than Nicene-Constantinople Creed and is missing very important articles of faith. And it is also misnomer to call it Apostle's Creed.

@living_orthodox

Personally, it’s not my style. I don’t see how it’s been of much use. But, if it’s canonical and within the Orthodox faith, then it is perfectly safe to attend. I might do a longer video on it sometime

@@living_orthodox Thanks for the answer Father. The discussion would be interesting with Father Patrick Cardine, who is one of the leading figures for Western Rite Orthodox. And he thinks that the Western Rite Orthodox is useful for the West and that it can help the West return to the true Orthodox Catholic Church. God bless Father

The WRO is so small in an Already Small Community of American Orthodox. Fr. Patrick or Abbot Theodore or even Bishop John of Worcester would be a great guest though. The Closest WR Parish to me is about 5 hours away.
@agiasf7330
@agiasf7330 Год назад
@Acekoala45 , some years ago, in an afr interview, I heard Fr Patrick refer to the Great Schism as "the so-called great schism". He said also that they use papalist music, hymns... from after the schism at his church, where he said his khouria was the choir director--I believe he's a blacksmith. He placed importance on our being Americans. He wondered: why do we need to be Greek or something else to be Orthodox? At the time, I didn't know enough to find these things troubling. Now, I know that I'm not Greek or Serbian or anything like that by being Greek or Serbian... Orthodox. I receive an Orthodox tradition, a tradition formed by Orthodoxy over centuries & steeped in the Saints but that doesn't make me Serbian or Greek... In America, we do not have a culture formed by Orthodoxy & steeped in the Western Orthodox Saints. Nor do Britain, Italy, France, Germany... as their culture has not been Orthodox for a very long time. We can have the Divine Liturgy in English in the GO, SO, AntiochianO... churches. Most Western rites are papalist novus ordo mass reverentially celebrated with some words changed or anglican vespers with some words changed. Removing heretical words does not make it truly Orthodox. It takes non-Orthodox services & removes some heresies from them. Orthodoxy is a whole lot more than that. As you may know, the papalists here were subverted by means of Americanism, so it is something we must beware of. In another, much later interview (might have been with Luke), he said WR may be what's necessary to bring the West to Orthodoxy & then went on to say how some people in Russia had watched his mass online & had looked for a WRO church near them! That's not bringing the West to Orthodoxy! I know a person who likes the WR because their masses are much shorter. Orthodoxy lite?

☦️Amen. I have a question. Are the GOC and the Russian Church abroad outside the walls of Orthodox Church!? Maybe they are a parasynagogue disturbing the Church. But the patriarchates today are in schisms it’s more severe and they are preparing to preach heresy like Rome. The GOC have saints like: st. Hieronemous the Cappadocian of Aegina friend of st. Nektarios, st. Glycerios the confessor of Romania, St. John the new alms giver... The blessed father Seraphim Rose if living today what he would do to save his monastery from heretics?☦️⏳

Why is the trinity not mentioned in the Bible? Why was it not taught until after 200 AD? The idea of Trinity is found in paganism. Isis. Horace, Osiris etc.
@living_orthodox
@living_orthodox 11 месяцев назад
This is a very low brow comment. Trinity is descriptive. The members of the Trinity are mentioned throughout the scriptures and named in Matthew 28. One more word of blasphemous garbage and I’ll block you and the Gnostic garbage that this comment reveals.

@@living_orthodoxShow me the biblical texts that talk about the Trinity. I have searched and read the Bible from cover to cover twice in my lifetime. So if I am able to absorb 10% each time I read the bible, I am up to maybe 20% comprehension by my own estimate. But I would like to be 100% comprehension on this issue. Thank you.

@@blueskyscubanut start with Matthew 28. Trinity is a description of the Three Persons. Only Pharisee’s get hung up on word concept fallacies. Jesus also says “I am in the Father and the Father is in me. He who has seen me has seen the Father”. He also says: “I’ll send one, the comforter who PROCEEDS” from the Father. There’s your source. No more blasphemous comments relating the Trinity to paganism. I won’t tolerate that.

@@living_orthodox Mark 16:19 "After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God." Jesus sat down at the right hand of God, that proves that God did not die on the cross. The Son of God died on the cross and now sits at Gods right hand. God can not die. Luke 24:49 "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” Jesus communicated a message from God, until God could give them the power from on high. Jesus could not give them the power to heal. That power must come from the Father, God. Matthew 28:18 "Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. :19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit..." God gave Jesus all Authority... but not the power for that comes from God on high. If Jesus sits at God's right hand, then by the Trinity logic, The Holy Spirit sits at Gods left hand. Right?
@3547cdr5
@3547cdr5 8 месяцев назад
God did not die, The flesh of Jesus died that's it. Luke 24:49. τὴν ἐπαγγελίαν τ. π.: the promise is the Spirit spoken of in prophetic oracles (Isaiah 44:1, Joel 2:28, etc.).-καθίσατε, sit still, patiently but with high hope.-ἕως οὗ: without ἄν, because the power is expected to come without fail.-ἐνδύσησθε: till ye be invested, a natural figure, and no mere Hebraism. Cf. Romans 13:14, Galatians 3:27. There may be a reference to warlike armour (δίκην πανοπλίας, Euthy. Zig.). @@blueskyscubanut
