I still have to try any British clothing pattern magazines since I’ve only made bags for the last 30 years or so, and the ones I looked at don’t seem to meet my needs, but I got the bug of making clothes again inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee and I bought a few patterns by Butterick, Burda and The Fold line. They were ok, but I hankered for the Spanish pattern magazine of my youth, called Patrones, which started in the 80s. I was very sad to find out that they would not deliver the paper version to the U.K., but I could get a digital membership. I was delighted. Each pattern prints on only 9 A4 pages, with their very special folding system, very easy to trace. The subscription is about £46 for a year, but you also have access to a 5 year archive for free! And the fashion is to die for. Highly recommended! It is obviously in Spanish, but all you need to figure out is how to print the patterns, which is dead easy: you just have to touch the digital arrows and the download symbols that take you to the pdf that you can email to yourself to print and no model is more than 9 pages. I love it! A pity the archive only goes back 5 years as I would love to get access again to all the patterns for the much loved clothes I made in the 80s and early 90s. Ah, and they have patterns by very famous designers. A true wonderful resource for keen sewists, every pattern comes out at mere pennies. tienda.rba.es/revistas/patrones
Fibre Mood doesn’t normally do it for me but I love that Ashley dress/skirt! Can’t imagine where I would wear it, but it’s just gorgeous. Really enjoyed this, thank you!
Sooooo pleased to discover the I Am Aime shirt... Finally found THE ONE. Been hunting for ages for a mens shirt for my skinny armed partner (the sleeve is cut more narrowly)! He also loves a small collar. Perfect. There's even a tower placket instruction video on the I Am website too. So perfect. I also get to make a version for me to boot. Only issue will be picking which one out of all the options. Thank you thank you. Off to purchase it now 😁
Loving the Assembly Line Balloon dress and the I AM Harmonie trousers, they were especially fabulous this week! I’ve always loved IAm patterns, even though the instructions sometimes aren’t that specific. Thankyou Kate, btw, I’ve fallen in love with your little pooch. 🥰😍
I hope you get a little warmer weather, but not what's happening where I live--we've gone from cool spring (60F/15C) to hot summer (80F/27C) in two days. Ugh!
Fabulous round up as ever. I have already started the Hailey skirt from Fibre Mood and printed instructions for the Malia and Ramona!! Such a great edition. The other patterns were exciting too……thank you. 😊 Lynne
Yay dog sighting! And i am so mad because i want the IAm patterns shirt but i wont support non-inclusive sizing. Argh! Ill have to recreate with other patterns
Sorry, must have missed this, but how much does fibre mood cost and where can a 'country mouse' find it? Is it a subscription or possible to buy one issue? Many thanks.
