My daddy is the one leading "Go Tell It on the Mountain". This is my first time seeing this and it brought tears to my eyes to see my family so young and just starting out. I remember all of the stories my mom and dad tell me when they were traveling with first "The Hebrew Boys" and then "The Hawkins singers". I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!!!!
I have been watching this for hours and hours. They WREAK of class! No gimmicks. No light shows. No smoke machine. Just TALENT. Connecting with the audience. We have a lot of "gospel" singers that can't connect with audiences and do not care about ministering to people. I'd take this any day.
Condolences to the Hawkins family from mine, the Church Families of the earth....As a young child, " Oh Happy Day " had a profound effect on me. Enjoyable concert. I can see how Walter had so much hair for the cover of his Love Alive 1 & 2 albums...it had been growing since 1971! Drummer was definitely not Joel Smith. Bongo player played his little heart out, but accompanied music rather well.

Last I heard, Sister Elaine Kelly was doing fine and works in outreach at the church she attends... She also attended Edwin Hawkin`s funeral service when he passed away a few years ago.
