All I could do was just cry. I had never seen this video. When I was a teenager growing up and others were buying Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, The Commadores, I was head over heels for the Hawkins Family. I bought and still have all of their albums. What a family! What a ministry! It remains in my heart. And Walter - Rev Hawkins will always be my favorite. He inspires me even now. I still think about him and what all of them built and wow...they are forever in my heart!!!
Right? Ok, back in my childhood, I was one of the others, but now appreciate and thank my mom for introducing me to royalty. I believe it was love alive 2 and 3 that mom got me into. My top song that really got me going, I mean, got them feet real light was until i found the lord, but I’m going away was close second on my favs list, but I use that one to remember my family who departed just to get me through those rough times. My most recent being my auntie, now that I think of it, those 3 words I could really hear her say to me after she told me that she loves me. She may not have said them out loud, but, I understood her, and as I listened to that song, I felt like I could communicate with her, telling her, see you over there.
Walter Hawkins was a total Beast and had one of the most beautiful voices out of all the singing males I've heard in life period no matter the genre!!! When it comes to talent and putting a song together he's beyond!!!! I call him the male twinkie and vice-versa!
Tramaine is a BEAST! She has one of the most beautiful & distinctive soprano croons I've ever heard. I've never seen someone so totally become a song like she does when she sings Changed. She glides. She floats. And her whole being glows. It's a beautiful sight to behold.
I have loved the music of The Hawkins Family for over 40 years. Tramaine is like none other. I thank God for having the experience to meet her personally at a Grammy Nomination party some twenty years ago in Bay Area. God gave me my heart's desire! Thank you Lord. Marvelous, this was the last song Pastor Walter sung publicly before his passing with an orchestra and Richard Smallwood. Love Center Church in Oakland, CA circa 1988 MacArthur Blvd...wow, the memories. Love you too Sister Lynette Hawkins Stephens. Was so happy when you released your debut album. Brothers Edwin and Walter, inseparable. RIP two great gospel legends.
I'm sorry but Bishop Hawkins just BLEW the roof off the place. What a voice. Was he a tenor, alto, soprano? The man was all the above. Goodness when he hits the high notes he nailed them. Truly a God gifted talent. I love Lady Tramaine as well.
Both of these Genesis are gone home to claim their rewards. Can you imagine the Angles singing a special song just for them. Rest In Peace Walter & Edwin Hawkins.
Tramaine always working behind that rhythm and STILL making it works and catching up with it just in time. I love hearing her work her artistry through the anointing.
The Hawkins family is the best contemporary group of all times!!! Their music is like no other! Such class and beauty in their style of music! It just saddens my heart that they have gone to glory!! Walter, Edwin and now their nephew, Joel Smith!!😢 rest in heaven guys!!
I'm so grateful my dad introduce the music of such anointed gospel greats....Gods vessels, the Hawkins Family! I've always loved Walter, Edwin and Traimaine! God bless them all!💕
I swear walter, until he departed, could hit em high with the best of them! Lemme just say it like this, his voice was a baseball bat, and every time he hit them notes, it was as if the giants hit one outta the park! Heck, that whole family was the sangin version of the SF giants. High, deep, it, is, outta here!
Yes Tramaine you can clearly hear her voice on several songs Walter sings she always blend beautiful with Walter voice and all others. But with Tramaine and Walter voices was meant to blend. You can hear Walter. Clearly when Tramaine is singing change in this video Walter voice backing Tramaine
This is a great blessing. Tramaine Blessed us with Her grace. I definitely did not miss God when Lynette sang, all I could see was the power within her Spirit. Walter blessed us with that immortal song and Edwin exerted the exuberant Joy. I am lifted to news realms of joy, grace, power and love.
My WORD when this man modulates and modulates and hit that saprano..he is walking in Jerusalem! my God, the annointing that just SIT on this family. Him and Edwin are truely missed.
I am so thankful for all that God did with this family. They praised God and blessed us with sincere worship to our Father God. I am thankful that God blessed me to hear them in person while I lived in the Bay area.
I wish I had have been in that room. I would have left my shoes! This is Tramaine's signature song!! Sing it!! Alright Lynette Hawkins!! Ending with a great song - Marvelous. Rest on Bishop Walter and Mr. Edwin Hawkins. Their era has ended, but not their music. What a legacy!!
LOVE hearing Tramaine sing!! Met her a few years ago, and she is what I expected.....so sweet, sincere, lovely, woman of God!! Sung these songs, and many others, from the Hawkins when I was much younger. #missthosedays

True gospel 🎶 that reaches the soul. This is how you PRAISE \0/ GOD 🎤 👏. They are best..this is only a taste of what the heavenly choir will be like . GLORY HALLELUJAH 💃
Thank you, Bro. Freeman. Never seen this reunion before. Good to see Walter and rest of family during happy times. It reminds me to enjoy my loved ones more and stop taking the hugs and dinner gatherings and the (after work) 'how was your day' for granted. Catastrophes could end a lifetime of "routines" in a flash...think about it...
I wish Lynette had never smoked and took better care of his voice...she was the best, natural alto back in the 70s and 80s. Tramaine never smoked and took care of her voice that's why she is still hitting those soprano notes.
I'm glad my brother sister's known as the Freeway Angel's got the opportunity to sing some of the Hawkins songs in Church. None can compare to them. God bless the Hawkins Family.
"wash em away"-,The best Music ,talent, etc. on the Planet...Praise .our Voices .Heard from the steeple, corner, every Church, is born. Dec.25th ,2015...many Thankx....

So glad we were raised singing songs in our choir from THE HAWKINS Family!!!!! The 70s were a blast! When music, gospel meant something, however, we all makes mistakes, no one's perfect! We're all stained❤️❤️❤️🤎🖤just try your best I know life can be challenging at times when times are good never mind bad! Be kind to yourself ☺️ Love yourself! Then you can Give Love, Love is the answer XXX God is LOVE❤️🖤🤎🤍
I saw this when it was televised. I simply love the Hawkins Family. To me they were the first family of Gospel music. I have loved the song Changed since it was recorded in the 1970's. My lord did these folks sang or what. This is what we need more of today.
My heart rings with so my joy as all of them bless my soul. This is the Gospel that keeps my spirit overjoyed. God bless them all for their great service.
Even my feet get happy when listening to them sing. I remember when I used to harmonize " the Potter's House" with my favorite sister who went to live with our Saviour on November seventh of two thousand nineteen, and was buried on my birthday, Nov sixteen. That was not a " happy birthday, but I know that she is extremely happy now with no more heart break, disappointment, sorrow, tears, pain, she is with the one who loves her. She is with Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. " Oh happy day".
Yes Bishop Walter Hawkins and Edwin, Lynette Hawkins Stephens and others will ALWAYS be remembered and their music 🎶 will live 🙏 forever now Walter and Edwin Hawkins are singing around GODs throne with the Angels
Remember singing all these songs while in the Youth Choir at PRBC. This helped to shape my walk with GOD. So grateful for all the time spent, it was a huge part of my youth.
