The Effects of False Doctrine and Cultism on the Mind 

Thanks for this teaching. Your comparison between leaving a cultish church or a church teaching the wrong doctrine compared to someone leaving an abusive relationship is spot on. As I write this I am currently in a women's refuge having fled domestic abuse from my husband back in January this year. I was attending an African church for a few years but left around August 2020 because I knew something wasn't right. I now know this was the Holy Spirit taking me and my children out of falsehood and the practices of lies. I was devastated but I obeyed the Lord and even spoke to the pastor about it at the time. Fast forward to now (July 2021) and having done a lot of work on domestic abuse, the effects on children, the mind, self esteem etc I can see its exactly the same. I am also having counselling which helps to deal with the root causes of abuse going from one abusive situation to another. I found the courage to reach out to another church that was completely different to the African church but I am struggling mentally with teachings of truth and accepting God's word in its intended context. I questioned for months how being in this 'cult' of African spiritualism mixed in with Christianity affected mine and my children's psychological well being and our spiritual well being and I finally have an answer! This I thank God for 🙏🏽😊... This is a real serious problem. Just as the Holy Spirit lead me out of such a church, may He do the same for others. It is super scary to be deceived in this way but we have a faithful God who will make it known to His children that we are being deceived. The question is will we obey that 'feeling' that says 'something is not right here'. Had I stayed in that church by the time I came to the realisation I was in an abusive relationship that was coercive and controlling, I would still be there today because of their wrong teachings and practices and I would still be on medication for depression and anxiety... It is just not worth it. Thank you Damon for teaching the truth. God bless you sir and your family

This is now my second time listening to your channel. You are speaking the truth of how false doctrine boggles the mind. Thankfully I am slowly working my way to seeing clearly.

If you break your ankle of course you need prayer, as in praying for your self. You do the practical things you can, when and if you can. Yes go to the hospital etc, but you should still pray because prayer is a conversation with the most High and we should talk to the most high about everything. Pray without ceasing, praying all types if prayers🙏🏾

Good teaching brother, I can say that I'm still damaged from word of faith theology and have lost friends due to my vehement and sometimes rude stance against it (good and bad). I know I need therapy and I'm searching for a good counselor. I would just like to add/caution believers to also be aware of churches calling themselves non-denominational but function as pentecostal/charismatic churches in doctrine. It seems to be the new hustle. It's like putting coca cola in a Sunkist bottle and calling it Sunkist. 🙏

Man that question on, “how does one leave a familial church with these types of practices and still have intact relationships with those you’ve left behind’ was a great one. My husband and I left a situation just like that and honestly as Pastor Damon said our relationships were severely severed and it hurt us but we weren’t broken, although many times it felt like it lol. But We wanted, needed the Jesus of the Bible more than anything and anyone else so God strengthened our relationship with him as he bound our marital bond all the more. Beauty for Ashes…. Gladness for Mourning Peace in Despair…..20 years later we are better for it ALL. Thank God

Damon, Three important questions, 1(Q)➡️ what is your true position and your belief when it comes down to God the Father and His Son Christ, as it relates to false doctrines? 2(Q)➡️ Since we are the true descendants of Adam, Do you know how the mind of man really works in relation to Adam before and after he sin? 3(Q)➡️ The Son of God came to this planet earth, born of a woman born under the law. The Apostle Paul said that he came with the same flesh and blood nature as we have, yet without sin. Also, according to 1Cor.15:47, he said that Christ was considered as the second Adam. Therefore, did Christ look like Adam before he sinned, or did he look like Adam after he sinned, or an amalgamation of the two?

My problem with the Churches today, is that they see everyone else has false teachers or has cult. But hey will not see themselves has false teachers Matthew 7:4-5, Luke 6:41. It’s reminds me of Israel in Isaiah 1:1-31, Malachi 2:1-17 they think they were pleasing God when they were not.

While some of the things you say are true the reality is the genuine and the counterfeit are at times similar we just need to use discernment to know difference

You are so right Brother. These people need our help. We shouldn't leave it to those leaving the cults to come to church and learning accurate knowledge of God's Holy Scriptures. We, the Christians, the church, etc, need to reach out to them, help them, stay I'm contact with them, less another cult come and snatch them up. We should have and carry tracts with us to hand out and when we hand them out, talk to them, tell them of God's love and salvation and encourage them. Ask them if there is anything (within our power) that we can do to assist them. ( Be prepared and have knowledge of resources to give them.) We have a responsibility before God to help people!!!!

Thank you for this. No one talks about this. I’ve been trying to sweep my stuff under the rug for 6 months now. I came out of a cult after 7 years of being in it. I thought I was the only one that was having issues.

You are on point. Yes there are no perfect Church but there are somethings in worship that as Christians we cannot compromise. It’s just so hard to find Churches where the Bible is taught in truth & not twisted to fit an agenda of the leaders. I left Jehovah Witnesses during COVID… praying for God to lead me to healthy place of worship… until then I listen to a Pastor out of Leesburg VA… because the Pastor studies through the Bible Chapter & verses by verse. I live in Connecticut & no place that’s not endorsing prosperity gospel & other false doctrine

Peter is referring to the gospel of grace the mystery that was given to the apostle Paul. Those who were under the Law could not understand what Paul was teaching, even Peter himself didn’t understand what the apostle Paul was teaching 1Corinthians 2:7-10 Salvation without works. The same thing today theologians, and so-called preachers,and teachers, with Their PhD, LLB, you name it who claim their mind and eyes 👀 are open twisting the mind of believers confusing the Church with their theology and philosophy Col 2:8. The Scriptures tells us what was hiding from the wise and prudent is now revealed to the babes. Matthew 11:25, Luke 10:21.
