So, how does beef cattle, pigs, sheep and all that help extinct plants? Surely, being Vegan is worse as you are eating the plants? Eating meat affects your mood? I've never eaten beef and decided that I want to run like a cow... Please help the earth and eat Meat. Help the farmers.. as you townies think there is a lot of money in Agriculture.. there really is fuck all money in it.. Farming isn't a choice it's something you are born in to!!!

Over population is not as much an issue as what the population consumes is. Earth provides enough for everyone's need but not enough for everyone's greed. Eating local and driving a hybrid reduces your carbon footprint by only 5%. Eating plant based foods or a vegan diet reduces your carbon footprint by an astonishing 95%! Go Vegan and make a huge impact for the better. Eating a plant based diet also drastically reduces your chances of diseases by 95%. Eating a plant based diet saves wildlife and habitats for wildlife, rain forests, huge amounts of water and energy resources. Now lets think about how much dung a cow produces daily (approx. 150 lbs). Cow manure as well as cow flatulence results in methane. Also think of the fresh water that cows consume. Everyone has a biased opinion, but you can't ignore how much of a negative effect the meat industry has on the environment.
Hey Jose, I'm not really sure where you read that cows eat what humans can't digest, but unfortunately you were misguided. Cows eat, but not limited to: oats, barley, corn soy beans, or sorghum and multiple types of grasses (depending on farmer and what their intentions are with the meat). Humans can not only digest, but thrive on oats, barley corn and soy. As for pollution: Imagine how much one cow eats, then imagine how many cows there are, then think about the fresh water needed to (cont.)
Lets fact check this shit. Because most of this is nonsense. I grew up on a black Angus farm and the majority of these facts have no backing. The real problem is CHEAP people who dont want to pay for a quality steak. If you want to pay 7$ for a TBone someone will find a way to make it cheaper(i.e. mass production). I have seen farms with >1000 happy, healthy cows that also have no erosion problems, moderate water consumption (300g per lb of lean ground beef). Most places have slaughter houses on site. Processing plant? Yeah check meat quality and make sure the cow wasnt sick. Ever heard of e coli? had veggies been checked like meat is Taco bell wouldnt have had a huge out break. Real Facts: The EPA said "U.S. agriculture accounts for just 8% of our greenhouse emissions" cars are more than 30%. Pruneing your grass(like mowing) makes it healthy. Cows if given the proper amount of space will not over graze and will promote vegetative growth. Most of the worlds poorest nations rely on livestock because they cannot farm their land. Look up the department of beefs study on the US alone and you will find that the beef industry will allow Cattle to graze in areas that otherwise could not be utilized for farming. Lastly. The water that goes into live stock is highly inflated. Also dont vegetables drink water also?

Please enlighten us confused grass fed organic farmers (that have probably been farming sustainably longer than you have been alive)- why will you not accept that some types of farming is GOOD for the environment? This was a good video but it's focus was not on the effects on the environment rather than the mistreatment of the animals. Points for trying. This is a hard topic to cover though, trying to find research material myself on the effects of livestock and meat consumption on the planet but its such a wide topic that its hard to pinpoint data.

Vice made a really good documentary showcasing the corellation between meat consumption and the degradation of our enviormment. Water is needed in large quantities to sustain the diets of cows, namely to grow corn and soy which are 99% gmo products. It is crazy what our addiction to meat has done to this planet, but idk if cutting out entierly is the solution either; what we need is an increase in the price of meat which will happen soon as water prices will go up, and for humans to consume less meat maybe 3 times a week at most.
Well the thing is that I'm from the countryside, and at least here cows eat mostly grass. When I drive to the city to visit my relatives, it's 200 miles of large meadows where cows roam around eating grass. Maybe in some countries they have farms which they give them human food (although I heard they only got fed byproducts)... but yeah.. I'd make more sense selling the cow's food directly, than giving it to the cows.

Hi earth family. I would like to comment on this post. I agree that death is a natural process, but I think the issue here is the non ethical or human practices around raising and slaughtering animals. It is not the death its self it is our inability to see what kind of animal slavery is becoming established and also how blind we are becoming due to multi million dollar corporations who are brain washing the public through media and false scientific research (drinking a glass of milk at every meal being one of them). To help you understand better, would you rather be kept in a death camp your whole life or would you rather live in the forests and off the land that earth intended us to?
It's impossible to explain feelings to someone who doesn't feel. Maybe you never had a beloved pet that died, or maybe you did but you felt nothing. Either you do or you don't. Most people have feelings though. Just like the animals that are slaughtered.
Some of the points here are a little dubious... for example the % of grain used for farm animals, when in fact, one of the few benefits of farm animals is that they use feed that otherwise would have gone to waste, because we can't digest the feed that farm animals are able to eat. There goes credibility. Can someone point me to a place I can get info on pollution caused by meat industry that isn't biased? I'm really interested in this topic.
