I love everything that you are doing: Regenerative agriculture is key to every thing, and - as a Vegan - I acknowledge that to produce quality food on a continuous basis, animals are necessary.
Thank you. Currently we have 70 hens and 4 Roosters. We are adding another 20 in shortly. The biggest issue is nighttime roosting space as they spend the day outdoors
How did you train your dogs to leave the chickens alone? I once had a disaster at a nursery, which gave me permission to bring my mutt along, and then there was a cacophony and there she proudly stood, with a dead goose hanging in her jaws....
We had a trained gundog years ago. She trained the next generation and this has just continued for over 18 years. The Choc Lab in this video is the latest generation and he’s learned from the oldest lab Tessa who never met the original lab.
Do you sell some Dexter's from time to time please? Are they giving you enough milk? It seems like the Dexters in SA is bred for meat and not really for milk
We occasionally sell Dexters. We milk ours (once a day milking) and get about 5 lt every morning. Which is more than sufficient for our needs. If we needed more we could do twice a day but it’s not needed.
Do you give your chickens additional feed, if so, what brand of feed do you give them? Currently mine free range during the day and have commercial laying pellets in their coop, but I want a better, more organic option for chicken feed.
