Watch the official trailer for Dawnguard, the first game add-on for Skyrim. Dawnguard will be available for download for 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE this summer.
+Sabre Cat literally my favorite skyrim quest was this. finally met the snow elve, the last one. and the other last one is a vampire more powerfull than the main evil guy!
I got a possible game breaking glitch for that quest where it doesn't show the quest markers and is constantly telling me to go through portals over and over again. Does anyone know how to fix it?
"...well I dont expect you to understand." "Understand what? That without the sun, all the plants will die, which will kill all the animals, which will kill all the people, which will eventually kill all the vampires?" "Wait, can you say that again..." "Not to mention the sun doesn't even hurt you, I've been travelling with your daughter for weeks, you can go out the sunlight whenever you want!" "Well yeah, we can, but, it's f*ckin annoying"
Not to be that guy but....... The sun (and stars) in the Elder Scrolls universe is actually a tear in reality leading to a separate dimension, Atherius, made by the Architect of Creation Magnus. The reason Vampires can't stand Magnus is because the energy radiated by it is aedric energy this is deadly to the daedra, which is why you don't see daedra far from shrines or summoning portals, and since Vampires are daedra hybrids they are weakened but not killed by it. Blood cursed arrows simply create a magical field that traps the aedric energy but still allows atherial energy through.
This is one of the best DLCs in the Elder Scrolls but I really hated the random vampire attacks. I exited Dragonsreach and they spawned all the way on the other side of the city. By the time I got there, they killed Adrianne, Belethor, and Severio Pelagia, three of my favorite Whiterun characters. They also raided Riften, killing Madesi and Grelka, which are my favorite Riften characters. They also spawned in Solitude during Roggvir's execution and killed almost the whole crowd. That's really the only flaw of Dawnguard, but it's an amazing DLC with an amazing story, characters, and weapons.
True that! The strangest or worst thing happened to me at Whiterun... A Legendary Dragon... and Master Vampires... killed almost all the Townsfolk/everyone in Whiterun...
+KuumotusGaming lmao my exact reaction, watched the trailer and was like yeah I'll try the vampire playthrough... with tons of mods of course.... dafuq bethesda?!
Mason Hoffman If anything Dawnguard is more repetitive. Dragonborn has a whole new map to explore and new towns. Meanwhile although Danwguard has a miniature new map( soul cairn) its hard to navigate, doesnt have much stuff in it, and the second last quest gets insanely boring when u spend hours trekking through falmer territory and killing those tiny motherfuckers.
Dawnguard was and still is my favorite DLC, so much emotive depth to the whole snow elf and forgotten vale story, soul cairn, the environs, they did this one right. If ES6 is based in Highrock or Hammerfell, I hope they’ll do more forgotten vale type stuff. Makes perfect sense, we’re being slowly encouraged to cross those forgotten mountains. There has to be more than just the forgotten vale.
IF THAT'S TRUE, THEN *WHERE.* *IS.* *MY.* *GOTH GIRLFRIEND SERANA?* I mean, I just want a cool story and since Molag Bal is the main villain in ESO and vamprires are enemies in Greymoor, so... Another wasted opportunity, such a waste.
this trailer takes me back to a week prior to its release, talking to a buddy in gym, speculating about elder scrolls six, and my suggestion of crossbows at that point
Two beatiful new locations, two new factions, cool new weapons and armor, great -and I mean GREAT- storyline and lore, the abilty to become a terrifying beast of the night, and the awesome things you can do with Auriel's Bow... This DLC is a monster. AND LET'S NOT FORGET SERANA - I CANNOT PRAISE HER ENOUGH.
Crazy coming back to this trailer damn near 9 years later and seeing a reference to Microsoft Points in the description *and* remembering that Kinect was a thing that happened.
To be fair, Molag Bal already kinda did away with that. It was part of the ritual they did to become Daughters of Coldharbour. It never explicitiy SAYS it, but it's hinted at pretty hard that she and her mother were basically given to Molag Bal during the ritual. But your heart is in the right place, Serana is 👌
Feels wonderful to go back and get the same nostalgia I felt when I watched these trailers years ago. With the way the country is it will never be this way again...
I've really got a love/hate thing with Dawnguard. It's got a great questline/story, very well written and planned out. I like the thought of being able to make my own arrows versus buying them from fletchers. Its a great way to bring up your smithing skill as well. The 'dark side' of Dawnguard comes with the "arbitrary" level 10 start (although you can begin it sooner) and the frequency of random vampire attacks. Fewer things are more disheartening than the thought of a whole town being eventually wiped out by vampire attacks, and usually by the time you hear somebody yelling "help me" it's too late to do much for them. I remember walking into Solitude for the first time on one playthrough and something like five or six people were already dead.
I disagree with your opinion on the questline. I found it super predictable and somewhat short. Plus the only choice I felt that I got to choose was whether or not to become a vampire lord. Also the quests of chosen faction barely differed from the opposing faction and the final outcome was the same. I wish the vampire questline had a different ending where you could kill off the Dawnguard. Storyline and role playing elements aside, the rest of the features were great. However, $20 is a little much for this DLC.
***** It's okay to disagree. Everyone has their own opinion and reasons. :) Though I've never done it, there is a qust to destroy the Dawnguard if you are a vampire lord and do enough favors for the other vampires around the castle.
In what way does the Console version excel the PC version? PC has modding capability, faster loading times, better graphics, higher FPS, far more comfortable controls and above all: The developer's console.
Sniping's a good job mate There are still more people playing console than PC, so in the end it's all about opinions. The consoles has in many peoples opinions better controls and a better community, and it's more versatile and easily accessed, I respect their opinion, and you should too. Sincerely, a PC gamer.
I can understand the reasons behind console users using consoles, I just feel as though Skyrim is better on PC, just as racing games will be better on consoles :3
*DLC is supposed to be about a group of vampire hunters taking on a clan of vampires* *Ends up lugging a fucking water jug for 3 hours while committing mass genocide*
Help people I lost Serana. I went on a quest where followers were not allowed and afterwards I couldn’t find her. I checked Fort Dawnguard and she ain't there (I sided with the Dawnguards).
Honestly, I love joining the dawnguard, because you can still go to the soul cairn, even if you have to become a vampire, just cure it with falion after exploring the cairn and getting the scroll, and Isran will never know, then you can become a vampire after finishing the dawnguard questline, while still having the ability to make crossbows, etc
I now this is 8 years after this dlc was released but dawnguard is my favourite expansion mostly because of the parts with the forgotten vale and all the new characters both in the dawnguard and the volkihar vampires this is art.
I loved this DLC too the only thing I didn’t like was how you barely got to kill any vampires mainly just Falmer and Chaurus. Otherwise Bethesda did an amazing job with all three DLCs
