Over the past 35 years, I must have seen these wonderful ladies countless times, including earlier this year and they still rock!!!! A lot of things can come into play in these situations other than age people... Sound, venue etc... While Sheila may be over singing at bit here... They still sound good and remain One of the best Female groups ever!
+lovebeamer1 The Emotions missing Sheila is like any group missing their original member who was so significant in the group. I've seen the Emotions without Sheila and with Wanda's daughter and it isn't the same. Sheila was and is the most significant member of the group. For whatever reason she is not touring with the group is sad.
+Vincent50 I absolutely agree! I adore Wyann.. However, the same seasoning of all the original members is lacking for understandable reasons...I've told Wanda it would be awesome to have a CD of all four of the original sisters.. :) Nonetheless, they remain my all time favorite Female group!
I wish Sheila was still with the group instead of Wanda’s daughters. Her stage presence really epitomizes The Emotions. They could get some female backup singers to cover a lot of the harmonies and just let the original ladies do what they do. I’d pay to see it. RIP Pamela.
I had the pleasure to see them several times they still put on a great show I saw them in their younger days as well they still bring out the crowd 😍😍😍😍 love me some Jeanette Shelia Pamela Wanda 😘😘😘😘❤❤❤❤
mookeychase0907 The Emotions, back in the day, sounded exactly like their album when it first came out. I saw them with the Commodores and they were awesome!!Their harmony was something then. I agree to give them a pass because they are older now. All that I hear wrong is the lead singer's off key extra screeching. If she sings close to the original released long version, they will be fine.
Postalguryl5150 you need to get your ears cleaned. They sound great. As for looking terrible that's not fair either. They look good still. They have had kids, and are little older so what. It's about the music.
THAT IS THE STAX SOUND, MEMPHIS TNN. THAT IS THE CITY THAT MY PARENTS PRODUCED ME.A TRUE AFAIKANS WARRIOR. ALWAYS FOR MY MELONATED BLACK PEOPLE'S AND ALWAYS WILL BE FOR THEM'S
On their worst day they sound a million times better than the crap that passes for soul music, and rnb ,and that other crap like Rihanna ,Beyoncé,Adele and their ilk.
Just a thought who now a days is going in for the long haul like Michael The Temp Gladys The Emotions the etc etc .. reminds me of the nice shiny new cars now a days llook good and drive good too......but only for some years....cant keep up like the clasics ! ! Just aint got it ..I think that maybe cause they dont have to work so hard now as before...put up with a lot more BS ..these girls are like the real deal soldiers....the groups dont have to work so hard ...thats why they fizzle out quicker
the vocal cords change as you get older. some artists are blessed to still be strong in their 60's, but not everyone. Their voice quivers, and they just can't hit it anymore - no matter how low the note is. I guess since this is their career, they can't afford to retire. Look up The Spinners performance on David Letterman - Bobby Smith did not sound good - it was painful, but he was in his 70's then, and in his 40's when he did "I'll Be Around. I wish them the best.
They are talking while they are performing. They have guts. Of course they are not going to spund like they did when they were young voice has changed give it up ladies that ship has sailed sorry
On this day in 1977 {July 29th} the Emotions performed "Don't Ask My Neighbors" on the NBC-TV program 'The Midnight Special'... Three months later on October 29th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #44 and spent 13 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #7 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart and #88 in Canada...
Stop making excuses for them. This performance was terrible. Its ok (and the right thing to do) to accept it when you know your best days are behind you, and just stop. Failure to embrace that reality is how you ruin your legacy and get audiences to disrespect you. Whoever produced this could obviously hear that they can't sing anymore during the rehearsals and should have called off the show.
much as I liked them in the day sorry but, they sound awful. got to take care of the voice. They had a long haul, time to give this up ladies. Black Ivory, the whatnots, Phil Perry still sound good, in spite of getting along in years. Time has not been good to these sisters for whatever reason.
Holy cow, this sucks! I still like it, because I've loved this song since I was about 8, but this ain't what I heard growing up! Good Lord, ladies. A for effort, and all that, but DAMN! You really gotta stop doing this to yourselves in public. You can not possibly need money this badly. Now I gotta go rinse my ears out with the '77 version...
Warren K Bell Jr They still sound decent, but you can tell that age has made their voices deeper. Back in the 70's and 80's they still sounded like the record.
