Hi! My name is Loretta, a girl from the U.S. who moved to Japan! I'm here on the MEXT scholarship program as a graduate student, studying to get a Masters in Business Administration. Here are some answers to common questions:
1. Do I Speak Japanese? Yep! I was taught formally in High School and have been speaking now for over 15 years.
2. What are you studying? I'm a recent grad of Yokohama National University's "Masters of Business Administration" Program
3. How old are you?: Year of the dragon. :D The math is up to you.
4. How did you get into Japanese school?: tinyurl.com/yb8...
5. What camera equipment do you use?: I film my videos with a Canon 60D using a 30mm Sigma Art Lens and I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 10 (with some help from photoshop). Additional cameras include GoPro Hero 7 Black and DJI Majic Air

The fact that the owners are doing everything they can just to get through this phase is heartbreaking. Considering the situation other people have been, I haven't really been thankful that the pandemic haven't affected us deeply. This video is very helpful as an eye-opener to me.

I really appreciate the upload. I think a lot of people do not realize how much Japan's economy is suffering right now due to the significant lack of tourism. I am currently waiting for a visa just to go there and live with my Japanese wife, and it has already taken me 2 months(still waiting) for my CoE. That does not even include the other issues of travelling there with testing/quarantine. Just want to say thank you because your videos make me miss Japan every time I watch them and it truly gives me hope that, one day I will be back living with my wife in Okinawa.本当にありがとうございます!

Wow..It is harder to realise how difficult these last few months have been when you see a place that you have been too. Sawanoya is so much a beautiful place to stay, we were there a few years back and the hospitality was amazing. We have so many good memories of staying there. It hurts me to think that the lack of tourism is hurting such lovely family businesses. Thank you for showing their inn off it is truly a stunning place to stay at. Their hot baths are so awesome!

Such a great way to repurpose that Inn. Hope they make it. I saw those bikes where I'm to, but I own my own bike but it's great for when my family or friends come over, we can bike the area and they can rent them. On a side note I never wear my mask outside unless I'm going to be in a crowd, or going inside, bus, train. The air outside thankfully makes it safe to not need a mask, unless walking by a huge crowd like Shibuya scramble or something.

Wow that is a great deal, as well as a great idea. I agree that 500 yen is probably too low, but it shows the desperation of small businesses to keep their doors open. At least the business owner is forward thinking with navigating this pandemic. If I worked in the Tokyo area, I would certainly take advantage of teleworking from his rooms rather than from home.

Interesting diversification of their business. I hope it increases in popularity for them. I don't know about in Japan, but in the UK everyone is still working from home if they can and something like this would be good where you can have a private, comfortable space to work. Especially for me as I just stare at the same four walls of my flat all day and just move from the dining table to the sofa as my commute home 😂 Also interested in the baths at the ryokan, as it looked like they were private too? I suppose options like that would be good for foreigners with tattoos that want to experience the baths. When I went 3 years ago we went to an onsen resort sort of place with public baths but it was more like visiting a swimming pool. However since then I've got tattoos and thought I might be able to go again.

Did you have all A's in highschool? I got a few B's last year so I am scared that no Japanese school will accept me if I apply.
