It's always cool to see modern music/recording sessions played on synthesizers that would be lucky to even see a compact disc before going into the closet. They sound... exactly the same as new ones.

Maybe someone else already noted it, but the Moog matriarch feels like a very similar instrument! Analogue piece with four notes paraphony and a delay unit? I mean come on, even the design matches. Really interesting stuff!

@@bateimidrashnetwork I can see it kinda sounds like I'm criticising Moog but that was not the point at all, I just found it very interesting that the paraphonic unit with stereo delay with similar visual aesthetics to the matriarch existed way before the matriarch.

The aftertouch is not that weird when you think about it. The vast majority of synths only use channel aftertouch, not polyphonic aftertouch. In this case the notion of an individual key having aftertouch is a farce, as it's only sensing the pressure of the hardest-pressed key. So this is just a novel way of representing it more factually by moving the entire keybed up and down. The Polysynthi was released in 1978, when aftertouch technology was only just emerging. One of, if not the, first synthesizers to have aftertouch was the Yamaha CS-80 which arrived two years prior to the Polysynthi. The CS-80 had proper polyphonic aftertouch. Polyphonic aftertouch keybeds have been surprisingly rare despite MIDI providing support for it since the beginning. More recently MPE is heralding polyphonic aftertouch once again, while also adding more dimensions of control.
