The Enchanted Forest - Classic Fairy Tale Amusement Park 

The original enchanted Forrest was featured in the movie "Cry Baby" with Johnny Depp...Directed by Baltimore native John Waters

This sounds cliche but man this would make a great horror movie set, or at least be a great setting in a horror video game.

I went to the Enchanted Forest when I was a young girl before it closed. I loved it. The nursery rhyme you couldn't recall is: Little boy blue come blow your horn, your sheep's in the meadow, the cows in the corn. Where's the little boy who looks after the sheep? He's under the haystack fast asleep.

I went to the Enchanted Forest several times growing up in Maryland. It was a very nice family park and we always had so much fun. I am glad to see they were able to save some of the original pieces. I will never forget once seeing Burl Ives there and he sang Big Rock Candy Mountain.

That place is amazing! I want to go there so bad! You are going to LOVE the Oregon Enchanted Forest, when you get there.

Jacob, if you ever get the chance to go to the Netherlands. Go to the Efteling where they have an enchanted Forest full of animatronics which are sometimes even darker.

There is also one in Oregon that is really creepy and supposedly haunted. You should go there too CB!!

I remember going there as a child 35-40years ago! There was actually an attraction called Huck Finn's fishing pond and I was the first person to fall in! They had to dry my clothes in the castle! So glad it's open again, thank you for the tour..brings back a lot of great memories!!

I used to have a Roadside Attractions book when I was a kid with the original Enchanted Forest in it. I always wanted to see it. I'd love to check that one out! Also, about the 3 Little Pigs story. My Dad always used to end it with: "Then they moved to Chicago and went into the sausage business and were never heard from again." Lol

My mom used to take me to the original one when i was a kid. If you go to the original place and walk through the woods stuff is still there. Ty jacob

I am glad to see some of my childhood alive and well.

I live in Ellicott City, MD. I moved to EC when I was 6 years old back in 1988. Back in 1988 my Mom took me and my brother to the original Enchanted Forest back when it was still running as an amusement park. One of the white Castles at Elioak's Farm was the original castle entrance and the other is a recreation of the original. Many of the little houses were salvaged from the original amusement part and restored. Some of the things on display were actual rides like the black ugly duckling and white duckling were either a foot paddle boat ride or a little train ride on a track. Cinderella's Orange Pumpkin Carriage was a little train ride on a track. I remember when I was 6 years old in '88 riding inside that carriage with my Mom and brother and few other parents and their kids as it went along a track around Prince Charming's castle.

We have Enchanted Forest here in OR!♡♡♡♡ With old animatronics & everything Need to go there and film everything I see Bty the way i was traumatized there as a child by my parents making me go though the ganky haunted house filled to the brim with old animatronics I was so scared But i hope to come back and spend a day at that amusement park and film. I work on a river boat right now and the park is only open in the summer I believe and i dont step off the boat in till winter unfortunately But GREAT video carpet bagger ♡♡♡ You rekindled my wish to vist the enchanted forest in my home state Oregon 💚💚💚☺☺☺

If it were not for the family that bought and refurbished these pieces, the park would be lost forever. However, there were some rides/attractions that could not be saved.

I read a book to our children which we got from the library about Goldilocks being concerned about the card house having no locks and how she good just walk in so she became a lock smith and as a favor to the bears which she had befriended she put locks on all their doors and windows😂😋

Looks like a nice place for a Sunday walk.

Sad, I thought this was going to be the Enchanted forest in Oregon... that one is so much better... great memories.

I remember my folks taking me to the original version of this when I was very small. I just remember that the giant at the top of the beanstalk scared me so much, and mom asked me to get close to it so she could take a picture....I was not happy about that bit.

I had not been there since a young child. I will be 50 in a few days and I went there yesterday to relive a bit of my childhood.

I'm with everyone else and vote for you to visit The Enchanted Forest in Salem, Oregon. It was built by one dude and his family and they still run it to this day.

My favorite attraction here was the swans/geese that functioned as boats. I loved riding those as a child.

I remember as a kid I loved the fact you couldnt enter some of the displays, it added to the mystery

How cool! I am glad they saved it and it makes it even better to hear Mark Cline worked on it. The park is pretty, it was much bigger than I expected, and they even had 3 different train rides! You could hear the kids having a good time, glad it was restored and is being enjoyed again.

You should visit the Enchanted Forest in Turner, OR! The haunted house is actually haunted, and it’s the best.

I remember going to the Enchanted Forest as a kid. My family loved it. And don’t forget the movie Crybaby was filmed their after it closed

I used to go to the original location as a child in the 70's. It was an amazing place. The teacups you saw were part of a ride that ran on rails as I recall. There were also amphibious boats shaped like duck or geese. I took my son to Clarks back in 2003 and they were still moving stuff over from the old location. I enjoyed seeing them again as I live in south eastern NC now. If your in MD you should check out the medical museum at the Walter Reed Annex in Silver Spring, its pretty morbid but interesting. Carpetbagger, there is an enchanted forest in Turner, Oregon that I'd love your take on! It was featured on Ghost adventures with our friend Zak Bagans, who owns that wonderful haunted museum in Vegas! It's super creepy! Please please please do an episode on it.... please!

the "blood and guts" version of the 3 little pigs is best because it holds your attention better :D

Thank you for visiting this place. I went to the original as a kid in the early 70's. It was twice as big with a jungle land , 2 dark rides and a huge volcano slide( accessible by Little Toot who was once a working boat ride) among other exhibits and structures. The old Cinderella castle was used in "Cry Baby" a few years before it closed. The Ugly Ducklings and Mother Goose were once connected like a tractor pull, their backs have been filled in and were once where riders and the driver sat.

I went there in kindergarten, had the time of my life. But when my dad was a kid he got to go to the original enchanted forest, and apparently whats there now is not all of the attractions from the mid 1900's!

Man I have so many pictures of me and my family there in the 70's.I liked that better than Disneyword when I was young.

Idlewild park in PA has a Storybook forest and as a child it was pretty cool. This place looks fun for kids too.

Glad you FINALLY made it!! Would have loved to met up. My kids have been asking to go since we haven't been in a few years. Wish you could have seen what they couldn't save before they demolished it all. I always stop at the old location while I'm there. Miss the old park but so glad the farm did what they did to keep the memories alive. If you noticed on the very front of the Old Lady's shoe Mark Cline put a sculpture of himself on the toe. And why do I have the feeling if you went to Columbia, MD your going to pop up at the Ripley's in Baltimore... ??? lol

The original site in now next to a Safeway on RT.40 and all ruins are gone now! Adam the Woo already checked that out! These type of parks where all over the place one I know was in Gettysburg, Pa. and Woodbridge ,Va. [off of RT.1] I guess when Disneyland opened spelled the death of a lot of places.

The pigs scurried from one house to the next... and they were all brothers. Brother Hay, Brother Wood and Brother Brick. Brother brick was the oldest, wisest of the brother pigs. That's what I was told when I was very young

I remember there being a promenade at the end of the park when it was originally open, where you could call Sant Clause on the phone. I don’t remember if we got to that, but I remember the phone. It was always time to go home when we got to that part of the park. That could have just been a recurring dream I had, and it never existed since I have not seen any pictures of it in google images. It’s sad to see that the OG gingerbread house didn’t make it to the park’s reincarnation. For the longest time I couldn’t make out the “Little Miss Muffet” spider guy as to what it looked like . Now that I’ve seen it again, it’s definitely creepier than a regular spider. IMO, it would be better suited to the abandoned theme park in Chernobyl, given all the radiation everywhere. Would make sense.

I have been to Clark’s Elioaks and only some peices of the original Enchanted Forest were moved to CE but majority of the attraction was left in the original location since the sculptures had eroded so much.

This is a fun cute place. I wish Virginia had a place like this!

The figure painting the shoe is a figure of Mark Cline he added to the top of shoe. I actually went to the original amusement park before it closed and when abandoned. The new location is great tho and everything restored!

That place is across the Potomac River from Virginia which is 1 hour drive from Colonial Beach VA and not too far from Church Point VA .

This place reminds me of Story Book Land in Fresno, CA.

I used to go to the original when I was very young and the only part I remember what’s this really cool ride where u rode in a swan. Can’t recall if it was in water or not.

No mater when it is. 30s 40s 70s 90s 2018, 2112. Kids stay the same.

The Enchanted Forest is somewhat similar to our Childrens' Fairyland, est. 1950. I don't think they allow unaccompanied grown-ups, which is why my og roomies, when I 1st came to town, were all the time trying to borrow my little boy, so they could gain admittance. Lived here 26 yrs now, & I've still only ever seen its' outskirts from the surrounding parkland downtown by the lake. Now if I want to go, I'll have to borrow someone else's child, as mine has grown & flown.
