You can build your list all you want but at the end of the day those people are NOT your customers..email marketing effectiveness is dropping down year by year and there is a reason for that

I got that mail from Amazon yesterday. Your video confirmed I was already afraid of : Amazon is gonna downsize their commissions. I was about to start with Amazon but I just think I am not gonna do that. You're right when you say that the commissions are low and I should better focus on high ticket sales and commissions. My husband and I tried to do affiliate marketing through Amazon back in 2009 and 2010. What we did not like was that you had to keep selling and selling. If someone returned that had bought through you but did not return through you again for that return sale you lost out on commissions. Also Amazon was always changing their rules. We found a way to earn while only having to do the job or sale once and getting returns again and again. After over 8 years and counting we never looked back at Amazon and then recently heard they were doing this. It seems to me they wanted the affiliates to grow them, which they did, but maybe now they don't feel affiliates are needed anymore. To bad. I feel bad for all those Amazon affiliates that were doing so well with them before now.

Thanks for the video Odi! I am really disappointed that Amazon is changing their affiliate rates because my brand is built up with Amazon Associates by reviewing tech products such as headphones, speakers, and laptops (which Amazon is taking from 6% commission down to 3%). Im trying to figure out what affiliate programs would allow me to get higher commissions that people have trust for similar to Amazon. Do you have any recommendations of affiliate programs for a tech/headphone reviewer? Or would it be better to completely change my niche to something that offers higher commissions like the "Make Money Online Niche" similar to what you do? Thanks for the valuable content man!

Thanks Odi. Having some years under your belt, have you seen this kind of behavior with other, more direct affiliate programs? I'm imagining how awful it would be to build a brand and website around a niche that relies heavily on one or two programs only to have those programs slash their commission rates.

Awesome video dude! Yea, I ditched amazon pretty quick when I got into affiliate marketing when I found out it takes the same amount of effort to sell a high ticket product. Their rates weren't impressive to begin with, for me. Good riddance in my opinion lol

I hear you loud and clear! I know one gal who is a mommy blogger with a great site about toys, she had some really amazing earnings (sometimes 5 figure months during Q4) but in 2017 when the first big change happened officially Amazon went from being volume based to category based and Toys were capped off at only 3% so she pretty much lost half her income.. thankfully she knew to diversify with another site and different affiliate programs.

I mean that she makes less than she used to after the commission change. Hopefully you won't lose all your income but when something like a commission amount changes you might experience a drop in earnings.

I’m still writing my content for a pet website I’ll be starting in the near future. I wasn’t happy to hear Amazon was changing that category from 8% to 3%. It couldn’t of happened at a better time. This lesson has taught me the importance of diversification.

I recently started a blog, on the blog I have a section where I recommend books with amazon affiliate link someone clicked on the link but didn’t buy the book they purchased something totally different I think a lotion lol but under earning it says $0 why is that? Even though some commissions have been halved it is still good side hustle money. I think it is worth it to include Amazon affiliate links as well as pursue other affiliate options too (that is what I am doing).

Hi. I have two websites hosted by BlueHost, developed on WordPress. One is English language for foreign students, one is a blog. Should I try to add affiliates to these sites? Yes you can add affiliates links related to your websites's content in order to monetize them :) Just keep them clean by choosing products/services relevant to your target market and adding them as hyperlink to your website content :)

Me: Started the biggest experiment and project with Amazon Affiliates to date, hoping it would kickstart my hopes and dreams + biggest chance for first commission. Amazon: Fuck your hopes and dreams. It really sucks but honestly, I don't see what's the big deal about it. Most companies nowadays have affiliate programs, and if Amazon Affiliates (A.Aff, from here) do not suffice anymore - we can always apply for dirrect programs, which is exactly what I'm gonna do after by project is done. P.S. Will you do live streams again?

They don't need us. That doesn't make sense. People are coming to our site then they are going to Amazon. So they are going via our link.

I believe that you should never put all of your eggs into one basket and Amazon is just one basket. And there are other sources that will pa way more. But even if Amazon slashes their commission, their conversion is insane, plus there are millions of products to choose from, so I think that if you had 10 sites promoting products at 4%, just build 10 more and you will have 20 sites promoting a products at 3% commission. That will still make good change of money. But yes, it is best to diversify this with higher paying commission.

Amazon does not need a single affiliate to make money - period..full stop...I predict they will simply eliminate their affiliate program within a few years or less...Again, Amazon doesn't need a single affiliate marketer..Why would they? They rank on page 1 for literally millions of keywords on all the search engines....People shop directly on Amazon without ever looking online and can read all the reviews directly on Amazon....Thousands of way better affiliate companies and products out there for doing the same amount of work and getting a much better deal.

Amazon left the luxury beauty niche at 10% one of the few they didn’t decrease, but I would look for direct affiliate programs plus other legit affiliate networks odi actually has a blog about the best affiliate programs for beginners: odiproductions.com/best-affiliate-programs/
