This is a heartfelt moment... I'm struggling to find the right words as I prepare to take a break from Artisan. 🥺 From my beginnings as a one-man band to witnessing the transformation of the company into what it is today, it's been a journey nothing short of magical. None of this would have been possible without my phenomenal team supporting every step of the way, and equally importantly, all of YOU. Your unwavering support has helped our growth, and for that, my gratitude knows no bounds. 🙏 While I might be stepping back for a bit, rest assured that Artisan will continue to provide the amazing content you've come to love. 😊 This isn't a farewell, but rather the start of a new chapter for all of us. Here's to the adventures that await!
Wow! Never saw that coming! Good luck Jordan and Lisa - your videos are an inspiration to anyone trying to make their business better - not just Sparks but any small business. Looking forward to the new content! ❤
Brave, but you will never look back. You have the mindset to make it work and you will look back on your experiences and feel so glad you did it and you had them! Always do these things when you can! Safe journey!
My Father had a small business that failed in the late 50s, He burnt out, and it all came crashing down. The small business that I joined in 2001 down in Cornwall had 5 Engineers and 5 people in the office including sales. When after 25 years or so, the Boss took a Big step back from MD to Chairman and left the day-to-day running to the team, we took off and flew. After another 20 Years the MD stood down and the company was sold to another one in the same field, that we had been dealing with for years, and are respected in this field, I and a few others were retiring anyway, so a mainly younger staff anyway. They are still there, trading well, and as secure as anyone can be nowadays 3 Years later and still bearing the name of the founder, and I am still proud to say that I worked for them. To let a bird fly, do not clip their wings, allow them to flourish, but also remind them who the real Boss is from time to time. You are taking a very brave sabbatical, and I congratulate you for making room for more than one dream to come true at once. Take your time, bottom out, and slowly climb back in, on your terms, with fresh eyes, and a much relaxed perspective.
sh/7 the bed Jordan, an actual video that was not click bait! 😅 I wish you both all the very best, and obviously Artisan to go from strength to strength 💪👍👍
I bet your sparks love this, they're working hard wiring up houses all day, the office staff keep the admin side rolling, you're doing fuck all but sitting on your arse abroad but still getting paid. Would laugh if your sparks leave and start out on their own.
I'd just like to say from a man who was an industrial electrician for 50 years and retired in October 2020 but obviously although controlled up to 40 sparks on huge contracts but have never run a company I would like to congratulate you on your great job in creating from what have viewed a top electrical company who does things the correct way because I must tell you my last 15 years in this industry has been somewhat depressing seeing the standards drop and the top clients and industry bosses and union bosses trying their best to downgrade our industry, but watching your company operate its obvious that your methods should be copied by other owners ,but I'm afraid the quick buck overrides common decency
"..downgrade our industry,." How Union downgrrade YOUR industry? (Because they were trying to get the workers rights, straight? Not all the people that become electricians are the same. Everyone wants the best of the best to get most out of them at the low price, as low as possible.. This business owner wants to run his electrical company remotly.. :)) forget about it. An wlectrical company, not a bunch of lawyers... on laptops... He thinks he can afford to travel around the globe while his employers works their socks up to bring money in it's company.. This is not hate. This is an old trick.. I am afraid yoi are either next to your employers or remain in Asia, and that is the end of. Meditate about how good you are and you will be better of.. I am waiting paciently your reply..
Good luck on journey But someone defo had a brain fart, including that pub ending .that was raw to watch By the looks of it ,not one of them ,wanted to be there ... no handshakes, hugs,or employee words .. Seems this came out of the blue ,for them as it did for us ... The pub ending definitely turned it, into a episode of the office for them all ...just needed the music
I feel like I have just watched an episode of The Office. I can just picture David Brent in that office and doing that super awkward goodbye scene 17:15 🤣 Best of luck on your travels Jordan.
Ah man, really happy for you both. Not an electrican, or even a keen DIYer, just really enjoyed your videos over the last few years. All the best for the future!
All the very best of luck to you! I lived for 5 years in Malaysia, and am now in France (the Corrèze departement, or the Limousin region if you prefer older names). Marseille should be great, and even the heat should be fine after SE Asia. Add me to any list forming of people saying they're interested in seeing videos from your adventure!
It won’t work … a business owner is the X of the X Factory, the core that makes a business successful. Employees are not paid and do not benefit enough to be the X Factor. You are letting everybody down just to do what you want to do. Always drama.
They didn’t seem too bothered or pleased to be honest, what happens if they all decide to set up their own company o just walk. I’m worried your dream of earning whilst laid back on a beach may come crumbling down
Was thinking similar to this at the end of the day Jordan is the owner and without someone that invested in the company its a risk. Hoping that everything goes fine and Jordan enjoys his new chapter been great watching just subbed as well today.
It's always been a bit of a puzzle for me why I subscribed and keep watching these Artisan videos. I mean I live in New Zealand and I'm not a sparky but the truth is I think it's you, Jordan, your team and your journey and your passion to build what to me seems to be a gold standard business. You've built something truly commendable 👏👏👏👏 Thank you for all the great content over the years and all the best for this next chapter in the Artisan story. Can't wait to see where it takes you and what you get up to next 🙂🙂 Blessings from New Zealand. Kia kaha.
I also live in New Zealand and am a fire alarm technician. I love watching these videos because they always pride themselves on doing things properly and the best job possible - something that I have taken onboard and strive to achieve myself now. Thanks
@@mattrode8964 great point. Jordan's commitment to excellence is hugely inspiring, the fact he has built a team equally committed to it makes it doubly so.
Building a business is one thing making money is another and you still look top heavy Staff wise and afraid to say in the last year you have aged 10,I ran a successful company for 35 years semi-retired at 45 fully retired at 60, and have been living here in Thailand for 30 years off and on but fulltime for the last 10 years,I had a team of four including myself and absolutely no time to make youtube videos but my guys were all self-employed and I paid them 40 percent of net profit on Jobs needless to say in 8 hours I got 12 out of them and they supplied all their tools and vehicles no invoicing allways payment on completion on all jobs regardless how big or small so never had any cash flow problems,I priced any jobs that were over a 1000 quid and carried out a full survey to avoid to falling in to traps and disputes along the way,You may find my views offensive but after watching your videos ive never had more than two people on any one job and none of those had time to make videos,All the Best on youre travells and hope things work out but personally I would have wound every thing up and moved on.
You should be so proud of what you've achieved and are achieving you've got a great company with great staff you wasn't born with a silver spoon in your mouth you've worked grafted for what you have well done. 👍
I know exactly what you're going through Jordan, I did exactly the same thing back in 2004. Sold my house and as many things as possible, packed up the rest and went for it. I moved the the Netherlands to the UK, there have been times I started thinking I made a big mistake but I hung in there. Now 19 years later I feel it was the best decision I've ever made. Moral of the story, don't let fear of the unknown and doubt hold you back. Go for it and I wish you and the wife good luck in all you do.
I convinced my wife to sell our house and take a year off work to do some travelling many years ago now. Not only was it an amazing trip, but it totally shifted my mindset of how I should be living my life. So while it may be scary now, you'll look back on this decision as one of the best you ever made. It takes courage to step away from the comfort of what you know, but it will make you grow as a person. This will be a life-defining experience, so hold on tight and enjoy the ride. 👍
Some peoples life can be in one big book, others in separate volumes. Nothing wrong with either. Yours will be the latter and you’re now starting that next volume. All the very best and look forward to the content about the volunteer work, as well as some interesting Indonesian electrics! Safe travels…
I tried to run my previous electrical contracting company from thailand, it all went wrong on the jobs and i had to return and sack everyone and complete the remaining contracts myself.
So all the sleeplessness and worry was not just about the business. It was all about content creation and not entirely transparent as usual. The Instagram post about the staff get together at the pub had an alternative agenda. I wish you and your wife well in your new life though.
Massive well done to you dude. It has been a pleasure to watch your channel and your business grow over the years. Safe travels and embrace your new chapter.
When you said you would be 6000 miles away I got excited for a moment that you might be coming to Australia, but then I realised that would be more like 10-11,000 miles 😂 .. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your future adventures from SE Asia.
Great news. Having uprooted myself and moved to Thailand for two years I feel this emotional connection with you! You’ll love it! Thailands electrics is completely shocking and I look forward to you doing reviews of the street electrics lol you’ll see ;) Wishing you all the best. Relax and enjoy Thailand 🇹🇭 land of smiles!
Good Luck to you Jordan. Being one of your original channel subscribers, i have followed you from day 1 and jumped onboard the Journey. Hope all goes well for you mate. Big change but i’m sure you’ll be fine. You’ve done amazingly well..👏🏻👏🏻
I really related to you Jordan. The first part of the video at least. Not really an issue with violent delinquent neighbours for me but definitely relate to the whole building something and fighting my way out of the social slavery and making something big. For me, I'm hands on and love doing the work, I've seen this in you too, just watching your videos. Your videos have helped me define my decision to embrace electrical installation. From the point of being faced with a univers of confusion to getting my grades and getting into electrical level 2. I'm still level 2 but I am committed and passionate about going the whole way and still to continue after too. I'm still watching you videos because it keeps a fresh crisp reason why I'm doing what I am doing. I wish the best for you and your family and hope we'll still see you in future videos.
Thank you for your honesty and advice, I have and my electrical company benefited from your videos. Relax now and enjoy each day. Rob the South African
It is likely they will to be honest. Couldn't work for an employer that ups and leaves like this! Having an employee running he business from abroad at this size of business is a big no.
@@fluphybunny930kinda agree, unless you reaches conglomerate stage then you as the owner can take a long break since you have installed the correct person for every critical roles even the CEO.
@@fluphybunny930exactly. The employees will just resent the boss as he’s enjoying life while they are working and expect them to graft when he just dossing.
@@mrp7555 This is limited thinking, I guess? The boss pays them, how is it relevant if he's enjoying life? He got to the point that he deserved that. He seems the kind of boss that you want to work for.
You've earned this, i tried with my motor trade business but the person I trusted and had known my whole life stole everything and sold all my equipment. I hope this doesn't happen to you. Stay safe and be well. Pity you couldn't keep up the youtube income too.
Living in Marseille? The French don't even want to live there... sorry mate. You are not going to manage a full year. The next worst place is Paris. I get the idea behind your plan, but this isn't the correct direction.
Jordan I am really shocked. I thought another click bait but this one is really different video. I think you were first sparky on RU-vid I started to follow and watched you way back when you were one man band. I wish you all the best on your new journey. Keep safe.
@theghostofsirjohnharveyjon8730 how does this happen? Seems like a highly profitable company with good Jobs and youtube money. This is why I work alone. Seems the more people you employ the less and less is profit and closer to going under.
Jordan, your an inspiration to me at a time in my life when I really need to some honest Truth. What you have built and your standard of life is amazing to me. I cant wait to see how you and the lads get on over the coming year. The best of Luck to you and Lisa. Big Love 💞💞
Well seeing the thumbnail I thought it was going to be some overdramatic trauma. Apologies for thinking that you appear to have made a very difficult decision and I wish you the best of luck. Hard work has built a business but luck has played a part in the staff that you have employed. You are indeed fortunate to have the staff that can hopefully continue the high standards without you being around. Must be a lot of tradesman dream to set up a business that will continue without them. Defiantly interested in some Thailand electrical videos ⚡️🧨⚡️. All the best in your new venture
pls dont eat those deep fry bugs (i mean real bugs, not joking with you) sold in the push cart.. got diarrhea with a near food poisoning for 3 days.. and watch out for pick-pocket and snatch and run thief..
Hey Jordan, absolutely love the content you and the folks at Artisan have produced! Hope you and Lisa both have a most amazing journey together (I'm already looking forward to seeing what Thai electrics look like! 😇) and we all know the team at Artisan will keep on producing excellent content whilst you're both having a very well earned break! 🏝👍 Also; Having travelled to/from Marseille many times myself (My avatar selfie was taken at St. Charles!) you might find the train works out better than flying for trips to/from the office. The best/easiest route would be Marseille -> Lille (TGV), Lille -> London (St. P, Eurostar), then London (Kings X, next door to St. P) -> Cambridge, and will save a lot of stress over variable airport connections, queues and baggage delays...With the added advantage you get to see some of the most breathtaking scenery, and you can keep your phone/hotspot on throughout the journey if you want! 🇬🇧🚄💨🇫🇷😇👍 (N.B: Changing in Lille is preferable to Paris. Aside from many more connections with Eurostar to London (From Brussels & Amsterdam, as well as Paris) Lille's two stations are just 300ft/two minutes apart! 😀)
Good luck in your new adventures, im fairly new to your channel but its one of the best electrician channels out there (i'm no sparky btw just a DIY kinda guy) enjoy and look forward to seeing more of your videos
Well done to you Jordan and your good lady Lisa! What a really brave thing to do. Wow! Will be very interested to see how it works for you all! Good luck!
All the best on your journey forwards Jordan and Lisa. You’ve got a great team and they’ll be there to support your next steps in your life together away!
Yourself and Lisa are going to have this amazing journey so make sure you are going to enjoy every moment of it , you worked very hard to get to this point you have a great team behind you and will do a great job when you are off doing your thing , BEST OF LUCK.
Gotta say thank you Jordan I've watched you from the beginning old vivaro revile as a spark not always bin happy with what you've done but appreciated your effort and your ability to understand when you've made a mistake . Wish you well for the future, you have made it possible for an electrician to just put themselves out there . Wish you well lad x
It's nice to see you finally able to do something that you love, I hope it's stress free and all goes well. Hard to believe I've watched you from the beginning and I look forward to watching your story grow and that of the team back home.
Wow! That’s all I can initially think to say. You and the team you’ve built have helped you do what you’ve wanted. It will be nerve wrecking, but that’s part of the fun. I’d like to see you do some electrical work, I think it will be erm interesting and challenging (I have visions of electricity pylons with cables lashed everywhere like in India). But maybe you’ll try new things with voluntary work, but anything electrical I’m sure would still be different. Don’t need to say best of luck, just enjoy it!
Literally just quit my job in February and done pretty much the same thing. Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Very relatable video. You are only one decision away from changing your life. You will not regret it. Very best of luck 😊👍
I made this step 10 years ago when I sold my half of the business that my partner and I built 25 years ago. Bittersweet feelings, a little fearsome, yes, they had to hire 4 people to cover off what I used to do, but everything has worked out well. Good job Jordan, I've really enjoyed your videos. Good luck with your future adventures.
That's mad, my dad had a very similar experience back in late 70s, neighbours from hell.... There are areas like his where these people hate new people coming in, they hate it especially if you work, have a nice car or whatever.... With my dad the guy would park a truck in his drive, outside it blocking him in or out so he couldn't rely on his own car because this bad bastard done all that, abusive, threatening etc.... Funny thing is if it were me, it wouldn't end well where as my dad would be genuine gentleman and never fight or know how. I hope it all works out for you but I just couldn't up and leave like that, travel do stuff but I don't understand selling up and just going....
Great job Jordan. Hope your new beginnings work out very well for you! Glad to see your taking a break, I am sure your great team that you assembled will keep the ship upright and steaming forward! 👍🤠
Wow! This is a bolt from the blue, I can't afford to be a channel member but I've been subscribed for a good few years now so I was aware of your volunteer work but not that you intended goung off to do some more. What a brave thing to do and the fact that you find it so scary makes you even more brave in my book. I hope you're beginning the wind-down process now, enjoy your rest then come back online to show us the beautiful places around you. I sincerely wish you both well, really excited for you and for us when we get to join in the fun! God bless and good luck.🙏👍😊
Wow, I thought this was a Jordan joke at first, I was waiting for him to say nahhh not really. Looks like I was very wrong, it’s a fantastic company you have created Jordan, the quality of work from Artisan is always next level. All the best with your new adventure and take care, I will continue to watch. 🍻👍👍👍
Im a fan of you and these videos but this is a Sketchy decision. For employees, Knowing your working 60hrs a week so your boss can put his feet up. Yeah I'd just take his business. You must pay them well!
Good luck Jordan and can’t wait to see your new content from Thailand and France etc. Would be interesting to see their electrical installations if you get a chance
Come to Australia, mate! I moved here 20 years ago and wish I'd done it 30 years ago! Sparkies are like gold dust over here... you'll be able to work anywhere is this great Country. And, you will live well. You'll have a few more regs to learn, though! But they're not as stupid as UK regs. I can't recommend Australia enough. Good luck with your move. If it doesn't work out, please come to Australia. As for Thailand. Nice place, but don't get ill. It's a 3rd world country and their best Medics and Nurses leave and go to the West (including Australia).
Good luck mate, and well earned. Vietnam, Thailand and Vietnam are beautiful. I’d definitely recommend heading to Tam Coc, just outside of Ninh Binh, Vietnam, it’s stunning. Rent some bicycles and cycle round the rice paddies and cycle to the beautiful view point just outside of town. If you want to find a really quiet, beautiful beach in Thailand, I’d recommend the south coast of Koh Samui. Me and my mate found a nice stretch of beach with a bar and hardly anyone in sight! Also, I you like curry, Malaysia will be heaven. Good luck!
Geezer... Respect 👊 Have a great time in Asia... leave them Ladyboy's alone in Thailand and just rest & recharge for your next leg in the great adventure of yours. Have fun and above all... keep smiling. 👍
