I’ve been a photographer for over 20 yrs, I’ve almost never given a second thought to your lighting. I think you’re doing much better than you feel you are and also you’re filming in your home like it shouldn’t look like perfect studio lighting. It’s supposed to feel like we’re just friends hanging out and chatting. That’s just my thought on it.
Well, hello there. FYI, Aldi sells Ketchup chips. I've recently come to the decision where I'm going to purge about 75% of my makeup, skincare, clothes etc. Want to simplify my space. I will only purchase when I need to. The luxury of "I want that" has reached its end for me. Work hours cut and rent increase is hurting, not just me, but many of us (still I am grateful for my job and home don't misunderstand me). But I can help myself by minimizing my expense. I will continue to watch, though. Blessings to all out there in YT land. 💐
😅 I've been trying to figure out my relationship with RU-vid because of all of this. While I like to hear banter (Beauty News, Theresa is Dead, Samantha March), I'm over everyone spending or getting sent free items. And then saving face by decluttering. This is everyone overall. I'm getting help from family to even have groceries. So while I'm not bitter, I'm trying to be entertained, and depending on how the person behaves, either I'll feel like it really is a friend or it's an influencer. RU-vid more and more feels like influencing b.s.
I have been decluttering so much makeup too through past few months. I still have a lot and going to continue to declutter more. My life has changed so much after a life event, I’m caring a lot less for things now. I stopped buying all the time like before. It got so overwhelming and not everything gets used. It was wasteful having them sit here.
Kristin Hannah is one of my favorite authors. I’ve just finished her recent book, The Women. Fantastic. You really can’t go wrong with any of her books. They’re the kind of stories that stick with you. You’ll love The Great Alone.
Hi Jessica, in case no one’s said this to you, I appreciate everything you do for all of us and keep posting consistently and on top of that it’s long form content…😊
I don't know why I am so shocked that you had only been in a World Market once before! I feel like this would be one of you and Tyler's favorite stores considering how much you both adore travel and they have so much food from around the world. My husband moved here from the UK when we got married and I stop by World Market often to get British items and we'll host British nights at our house - so fun and friends get to try things they've never had before! If you guys went again and got some groceries to cook some international meals (obviously at the cutting board), I know so many of us would totally watch those videos and absolutely love them! 😊
If your tailbone keeps bothering you, you must try acupuncture. I broke my tailbone giving birth to my first child and suffered for 9 months and after trying everything my specialist recommended except surgery, I tried acupuncture. Within 2 months I was totally healed ( it was getting better and better each week). So many doctors and MRIs and money. It makes sense the body can heal itself if you can get enough blood flow to the injury. I'm so happy I chose that option otherwise my other option was to kill the nerve and have weird numbness for the rest of my life.
Book recommendation: the invisible life of Addie LaRue. If you have not read that, it is a very very special book. I finished it sometime ago and still can’t stop thinking about it.
Oh my goodness I had an inflamed coccyx several years ago and it was so painful and uncomfortable. They ended up treating it with steroids and anti-inflammatories never really knew the cause. But I haven't had it since so that's good. Hopefully yours will resolve soon.❤
I know I’m pre to the comment party but KH is one of my all time favs and she wrote Firefly Lane and it’s sequel! Only two books that have ever made me cry. Ever.
I don’t generally gravitate towards historical/historical fiction books, but they always end up being my favorites! The one I just finished was called The Queen’s Fortune. It’s about the first woman Napoleon was engaged to, who later ended up being the queen of Sweden. It was fasicinating!
Great vlog!! I love World Market and am surprised you don’t usually go there as it seems like your vibe. I live in a tiny tiny town (300 ppl) so I’m always super jealous but love the vlogs when you go to stores like that. I can live vicariously through your shopping! PS - I saw a comment recommending The Women and I agree! I have read many Kristin Hannah books, mostly 5⭐️, but that one was a favorite for sure!
Oh The Woman....one of the best books I've ever read. As a nurse myself, with a husband who was in combat (not in Vietnam), wow does it get you in the feels.
The Women was a book choice in my sorority book club - so good! We read Nightingale last year. We liked The Women best but that takes place in Vietnam which was during our college days so great pick for a sorority book club.
The Nightingale is one of my all time favorite books I highly recommend it!! Kristin Hannah’s newest book The Women is about nurses in Vietnam, it is also insanely good! Magic Hour is a shorter one and not historical fiction but it’s also a really good read! She is my favorite author, I love her writing so much!
Definitely read the nightingale next! Literally my favorite book to this day and also didn’t think I’d be so intrigued about a historical fiction book taking place during WWII but it’s that good
There are books on studio lighting, but what you probably need most is just a big white diffuser light. It gives soft, even, beautiful light that looks like sunlight reflecting off a white wall.
Tyler would LOVE the international food section! I can imagine a week of "welcome to the cutting board" with so many fun international foods, it's Cory and I's favorite store ever as world travelers and at Christmas?!?! the best
World Market is so fun! Absolutely love going there during the holiday season. Lots of fun giftable things and decorations. Fun to put together international food and goodie baskets for people as gifts! A very fun store to hang out in, with foods you don't find elsewhere.
I grew up in Northern Maine. Parents were Canadian. Ketchup chips were a staple of my childhood when we’d visit relatives in Canada. When we got older, we’d go to Canada to specifically buy their flavored chips. Best flavor - Roast Chicken. Ketchup chips though….🥰. Those trips are long over as I’m now in Iowa.
Jess, you make me feel better about myself because...my house is really clean and organized on the forefront but I have all those hidden places that make me nuts!!! I'm so glad someone I admire so much goes through that too 😍😍 Have you read any Janet Evanovich books ,their very good for some lol humor?
I have a similar hair tool (and shorter hair) and I absolutely love it! I don't do my hair very often, but since I purchased my waver, I do it ALL the time! Obsessed!
My husband and I enjoy World Market since they sell unique and specialty stuff. I don't even remember them being more on the affordable end since we started shopping there years ago. They got some cute stuff tho!
The nightingale is brilliant. I read it a few years ago. I would recommend her new one- The women. It’s all about women’s roles in the Vietnam War. Kirsten Hannah researched this for 20 years before writing the book. It’s really very good. X❤
Im currently reading The Measure by Nikki Erlick. It’s about everyone in the world getting a box with a string & that string correlates to the length of your life (longer string = longer life). It’s not the most well-written book, but the topic is fascinating because it brings up so many different aspects of knowing how long your life would be. I definitely enjoy the depth of thought the book provokes. I think it would be a great book club book, too, because there’s so many different topics you could discuss.
I love your vanity, it’s so functional. I have a small vanity but the drawers are super small & only has 4 of them. So I had to get a cabinet to put next to it to hold my makeup & brushes & skin care. I’m sorry if you have told us before but where did you get the vanity from please ?
I have broken my tailbone (coccyx) 8-10 week recovery! I still have residual pain! ESO when running or lifting too heavy. I say go for a cray you never know. Not that you can do much it’s just rest. I also have to avoid recliners abs certain seating position. Physio helped tremendously
I don't read a tremendous amount of books but I will always read Kristin Hannah. All of her books are phenomenal. Firefly Lane was definitely a favorite!!
Looove Kristin Hannah - The Nightingale is a must along with Winter Garden and The Women. Home Front was also really good. Haven’t read Four Winds - adding it to my list now!
Kristen Hanna is a fantastic writer. Her books are very heavy, but they sure keep your interest going and they keep you thinking I could recommend any of her books the nightingale was amazing. The Women is amazing.
22:43 awww!! my dad, who passed when i was in my 20’s, used to only get after 8’s for new years when i was a kid- mostly because of the name 😂, but they are soooo good! Now my husband tries to find them for me for new years ❤
Hahaha the ketchup chips bit got me 😂 I’m Canadian and I love ketchup chips (Lays), but they’re one of those love-them-or-hate-them flavours. I feel like a kid at a birthday party whenever I have them 🥳
I loooooove World Market! I bought kitchen chairs, art , pots , kitchen items. They have great lighting. Its a fun store to roam around and just look. My husband always finds snacks!
I just finished reading a book called Painting Celia. It's about a relationship between two damaged people who are changed by getting to know each other. It's by a first time author, Maya Bairey, and it's the best book I've read in years.
Kristin Hannah, my favorite author, the Great Alone is awesome, but the Nightingale is my all time favorite followed by Winter Garden, hope you find the time to read more books by her.
I looooove Cost Plus World Market! So sad when they closed the one near my house years ago. Used to get all sorts of fancy snacks from all over the world, and fun gifts. They’re not exactly a bargain spot, but their items are unique.
I fell down some steps years ago (like 25 years ago) The pain gradually got worse of a course of a few days. Ended up with a chipped tailbone I hope you are feeling better
