Thanks Gweilo for what you’ve done. Yes, take a rest and live your life as you see fit. There’re still many places to explore and enjoy. Who says you cannot return to RU-vid when you feel like it. Do things at your pace, not others’ ! Glad to hear you may be travelling to Malaysia. Would be glad if can meet up as I’m around your age and “retired” living in Kuala Lumpur. Happy to bring you around even to other parts of the country.
When Trump put out the sanctions on Huawei around 2020, it perked my curiosity and wanted to learn more about China. Your channel was the first on China to show up on my feed and your videos have opened my eyes about daily life in China. I quickly realized that China provides it's people with hope and opportunities for a better future. You may not have convinced your dad but you you did convince me.
Love from China❤. Sorry about what happened to your wife😢 You've done so many meaningful things, it's your right to take a break. Life can get tough sometimes, but there will always be hopes. Best wishes for our dearest friend.
You have worked hard in bring information about China to all, thank you very much for your efforts. We wish you good luck in you future endeavours and also to hear from you from time to time. Bon voyage !
It’s hard to believe that she’s gone. YouTubing is like virtual reality. It screws with your perception of time and events. One minute you’re watching a video of gweilo n Wei fung having a good time, the next minute you realize she’s been gone for a bit
Once a month or even two months a video for your followers info. Maybe just 5 minutes video is enough! Just to let your followers you are healthy and sound! 😂😂😂👍👍👍
Let's call it sour grapes. That is how humans are, they will hate on you if you are in a little better position than they are. I have seen it so many times.
All the best for you Gwello 60. I've been following your channel for a long time. A word of warning to look out for yourself. Hope you are safe while enjoying life and keep us posted.
I subscribed a few years ago because I found your videos interesting. Your recent excursion to the Philippines was interesting too. But I can understand if you don't feel like recording & sharing your life anymore or take a hiatus. You don't owe anyone anything, so don't ever feel obligated to churn out videos regularly to please your subscribers. Just have fun & stay healthy. Cheers!
This is the reason why US and the West clised the Confuscius institutes. More people learning Chinese language will mean more people trying to searching news, history outside Western media and more will travel to China.
I did watch your videos in the Philippines. The areas you visited were depressing. That is the main reason why people unsubscribed. There is no reason for anyone to follow. Just a fair warning, the Philippines is not a safe country. I just watched tvb news police was involved with kidnapping tourists from China. Be careful with other southeast countries as well except for Singapore and Malaysia. Good luck!
It did look quite run down in the videos, yes. Vibe was also less lively and bustling. But I'm not too surprised, because the Philippines is one of the worst performing economically of all the ASEAN countries.
Gweilo, at 64 you're still a puppy. Not for me to give you advice but...having been married to a Filipina for 30 years, raising 3 kids virtually by myself and the relationship ending in divorce (my choice) may I suggest you parse any promises of family life together very, very carefully. The words may be coming from Adam and Eve's paradise serpent in the tree of truth and wisdom. I am 79 and ending up alone after years of being lied to isn't much fun. Good luck in your new ventures but keep your wits about you at all times!
It’s been a fun ride with you! Please do update us or maybe start a new channel! Travel with Gweilo60 Retire with Gweilo Chill with Gweilo New Chapter Gweilo Take care!
Hi Gweilo, instead of only Philippines, maybe try an Asia trip, taiwan, hongkong, japan, thailand, bali, etc. many people would be very interested to see some variety, and dont forget to have fun
Big diff between China and Philippines. When older organised places are less hasle and safer.Think i would prefer China myself. I.ve been to Philippines when young and great but now at 62 China does it for me. Good luck, stay safe.
Good luck to you Kirk. You've got to do what's right for you and Asia has so many interesting places to see. Just don't forget us (your friends and followers) who are stuck here where we are. Please come up with a great video once in a while so we can participate in your world. Bon voyage my friend !!!
Ya be careful when you are in Philippines. A lot of men got scammed there but I am happy that you are trying to live life as best as you can , after Wei Fong. we miss her so much and I miss the cheerful side I saw in u
Thank you Professor Gweilo for sharing part of your life with us. Hope you will make Nanning your permanent home always whenever you may choose to go. As always have peace.
Kirk, I will miss your China views but do what you have to do. I will always be a subscriber my friend. Do what you need to do for you. I hope that I am in China by the time you come back. Then we. An share a few beers in Nanning! Be healthy, stay safe and get over this funk. You have been through a great loss. Don’t worry about people leaving your channel, more will come. I spent time in the Philippines while in the service. Be safe, heal, enjoy yourself, people will want to know how you are and what you are doing.
Your subscribers and followers support whatever adventure you will take on. We’ll certainly be waiting for future videos and of course updates, take care Kirk. Oh, and I wish I were in that part of the world. Southeast Asia is wonderful in so many ways. The rest of the world could learn so much from those places and the people who are from there.
Thank you for sharing your bit of your life in Nanning. Like everything in life, change is constant. Good time or not, it will come to an end somehow. I wish you all the best for you and your travelling life, wherever you will be. But.. hope to see your video again in the future.
Be careful to understand the culture of the Philippines before you get with the girls. They're religious. Family is very involved. Extended family will all ask you for money and favors constantly. Jealousy and breakup can be brutal, harassing, and violent. Find some expats who can tell you their experiences.
When I was in my 30s I went to the Philippines I remember sitting at a table for lunch and next to me I heard these teenage to 20 year old Filipinas squealing Gwapo... O O na Lang Gwapo 👆basically saying good looking yes that is good looking I look up and it was a 90 year old guy across the street, hobbling along with a cane at 1 mile per hour 😂😂😂😂
Take a great break as long as it needs to be. You don't have be a warrior against trolls or political nonsense. Just be yourself and have a wonderful life as everyone else. And we are hoping to see more of the highlights in your life.
westerner when go Philippine . girl.woman, men all are easy going coz their life are easy ...sing...eat ....sing... and almost everyone can speak english...my country have alot Philippine worker...they are very easy going ppl.... but i dont know how their thinking/real heart...but yes... their life are just simple ..and their enjoy ...but if touch about ECONOMIC then there was nothing u can do alot.... coz now their PM are zzzzzzzzzzz thinking of himself pocket/money which are all in US hand... so P,PM there now was US dog guard now...
People unsubscribed & not watching is because of the rising TENSION between China & Philippine (Politics).. 😲 If you’ve chosen say Indonesia, Malaysia or anywhere else? 🤔 TBH..Me thinks you’re still MISSING your lovely wife & When you go walking around Nanning, you’re reminded of her everywhere you go, including living with your brother in law too, 😂 You just need to find another partner... possible future wife from another country you’re travelling too.. Best wishes & Good Luck...👍 enjoy travelling 😉
You go for a peaceful, joyful life. It will be a journey. Its been lovely to travel with you to see the world and other cultures. Good luck & look forward to the drifting journey!
I'm not gonna lie. I saw this coming a mile away when u said you were planning to 'vacation' in ph for your first trip. I knew you would meet someone and settle there. Nonetheless, all the best to you wherever your life takes you. 👍
It's all about missing friends from the same culture, there's nothing strange about that, most people do. Of course I would like to live in China, but the question is what the circle of acquaintances would look like, if I were to feel lonely and a little left out, and in the philippines there are a lot of westerners
I'm Chinese Canadian, I can tell you the amount of people who thinks about China ranges from political evil to like you say a dystopian. No matter how much i tell them, i barely can dent into their thick mentality of how bad China is. Honestly, it's about time China is providing 14 day Visa to travel to China and so glad the amount of new vloggers that can show world and when I say this, I mean the western world.
@Gweilo 60 - China has such a life-building energy, it's such a lively place... people both young and old embody that, you don't know it unless you've lived and been in China a while, eh? ... and When you get back to Nanning yet again, perhaps you'll see it with fresh-eyes again (as it were) after a long stay in the PH, I mean.. and appreciate it even more than you already do! .. But, whatever the case, enjoy your travels Gweilo!! You always put out the most interesting content of any China-based youtuber so it'll be a sorry time whilst you're not in China tbh, i'm sure others agree! All th best!
Thanks gweilo, You gave us a lot of good honest info and many of us were looking forward to your next video, and i learnt a lot about the orient through Your videos, thank you
Listen to your own emotion, Kirk. You know best what path is good for you. Keep us informed of your future life. I am sure many will follow you, and miss you!
Until next time Gweilo. I just don't understand why subscribers would just unsub you just because of a few different videos. I just skip it if I wasn't interested, but I never unsub anyone for that.
Thank you so much for all your videos about China. And you are honest and open. It's is time consuming and still a lot of work to make youtube videos...I can't even video my piano playing I have been wanting to do for years. Good luck to you. Filipinos are very nice people if you want to travel and live there despite all the differences between China and the Philipines.
@@Gweilo60careful. Two Filipinas already drained my money. I was married to one and I got scammed. I don’t blame them though. They just want to escape poverty.
Totally understand you, we are thankful for any video that would come our way. Your plans sound fantastic, as I myself have been dreaming of a trip to Samar or possibly Leyete as I would want to meet humble, honest, down to earth local philippinos. The best philippinos I ever met were those who had very little economically, but were rich in love and care for others. And in a poor place like that I also had a chance to do some good, if I happen to meet someone who I think deserve some help. I might also mention that you got at least one new subscriber from your philippines videos (me). Have a great life! If you later happen to share any wisdoms about the Philippines I will be grateful!
I will still follow u on youtube which ever country u go to . Do keep safe always and always be careful of scammers , and be careful of female gold diggers
