The End of JJK is Almost Here | Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Ending Explained Gege's 3 Big Arcs

Sometimes Gege Akutami’s plans for the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga aren’t clear at all, but now as we wind down towards the ending with the author being a bit late on his previous calls that the manga would end in 2023, let’s look at the CLEAREST part of Gege’s plan that fans have known about for quite some time now in Japan. Over in Japan due to a private event in 2018, fans were made aware of a statement by Gege Akutami suggesting that the story of JJK will cover THREE BIG arcs before its ending. This was before the Shibuya Incident so nothing huge had happened in the story yet, however this left fans speculating on what these three big events would be, or even arguing that Gege never said this at all. Eventually this was confirmed by the Editor of the series Katayama, who said that the Shibuya Incident is the first of 3 big events in the story, using the same exact phrasing as Gege Akutami allegedly did. If the Shibuya Incident is seen as the first major arc of this trilogy, then it’s clear to see that the Culling Games Arc which came right after and also features a large number of battles and huge stakes, would clearly be considered the second one. Now the question is if the current Shinjuku Showdown is actually what Gege considers to be the THIRD Big Arc of the series, or if we’re still heading into one final large arc involving Kenjaku and his final plan, however what do you think about Gege’s comments and do you wish MORE manga was handled like this?

The culling games is the second major arc ( which we are still in) and I believe there will be a final arc afterwards. There's just too many loose ends and open plot lines currently. There's enough time in a final arc to wrap everything up

Heres what makes sense to me. (More Copium) Gojo is revived with a new enlightenment and technique we never seen. Maybe something more efficient than his RCT and CE renewal where hes in perfect harmony facing off Sukuna in his final form and Yuji simultaneously facing off against Kenjaku to stop his plans.

I definitely wish more was handled like this. When novel series are lengthy, tv adaptations will try and reach a certain point before ending. However, seeing as money is the ultimate goal, usually it follows through the rest and the whole thing wares down in quality and excitement. I’d rather people say “I wish it was longer” than “remember when this was good”. I’d like for more authors to have a good idea of how and when to end a series. Unfortunate that a very highs stakes story has to be the one to do this but it also makes it reasonable given such a dark tone.

I've been considering the Shibjuku Showdown arc to be part of the Culling Games "mega event" or whatever as we haven't actually moved away from the consequences of the Culling Games yet. Sukuna vs Gojo and Kenjaku being Kenjaku imo are like the finale of the Culling Games before we move into something seperate as we haven't really gotten a breather like how we had the Perfect Preparation mini-arc when we went from SI to CG

I love the topic nature, but the pacing feels really rushed to me and because of that the power scaling doesn't feel earned a lot of the time. I wish it was about 2 years longer and more mapped out from a powers origin and growth.

Yes I wish more series were handled this way. Gege has a planned ending. This gives his series more of a sense of direction. Some people may not like it when he kills off a large chunk of characters. But with less planning those moments would be handled far worse, or they could be left alive with absolutely 0 relevance. A good example despite the series popularity is Dragon Ball. Lots of people love it including myself, but the show has a lot of flaws. From Gohan losing relevance entirely, concept of character deaths no longer mattering cause they can just wish them back anytime, and introducing the idea of power levels to be the sole factor of a characters strength rather than tactics/skill only to throw it all away later. Plenty of other things. It's just very clear that Dragon Ball as great as it was, was still directionless. It's a flawed way to tell a story that can not be replicated by anyone else.

Honestly how Gege wanted jjk to end which is everyone is dead except Yuji and Megumi with Tokyo destroyed is the best ending. Now you people might say I’m crazy but it would be such a sad but heart warming ending seeing they tried so hard just to get win but at what cost. Also if Yuji and Megumi get traumatized for the rest of their lives it would be kinda good to have a sequel where Yuji is the next Sukuna and it would have been a time loop. I honestly loved the way this arc wrapped up. Yuji’s growth throughout the series has been incredible, and seeing him offer Sukuna redemption instead of just annihilation was powerful. It’s a testament to Yuji’s core belief: that people (and curses) can change their fate if given the chance. Nobara's return was epic, and her timing couldn't have been better!! Sure, the battle with Sukuna couldve had more detail, but the focus on emotional resolution really drove home the point that this series is about more than just fighting...it’s about the humanity within these characters. Anyway this ending left me satisfied and hopeful for Yuji’s future!!

Culling games I don’t think would be one of the three arcs, more like filler content. Shinjuku for sure, then now with geto’s most recent…issue… final arc I’d think would be Yuji taking over geto’s plan and dying fighting and taking out sukuna to save everyone else

Listen I understand Yuji is a powerhouse and so on but I cant see him with an incomplete or newly awakened DE beating Sukuna. Lets be for real. Gojo was the only one who really could beat him and I hope he returns for a part 2 battle and wipes the floor with Sukuna. The honored one is the only one worthy enough to beat sukuna. I feel modern day mangas are going too fast... stuff like one piece naruto and what not felt like they were around forever and properly developed their stories. Hearing jjk is heading towards its end seems abrupt. I just feel like there isn't a clear big bad nor a clear build up for the big bad or a unifying theme for the series... It could be worse tho. I feel like mha did the same mistake far worse despite having a clear big bad, clear theme and a clear build up...

I despise the culling game arc. It came on the heels of like 5 other death game anime and it felt super contrived with the stupid points system and rules adding and random new sorcerers/curses instead of using old characters or characters that have been hinted at. Biggest offender is the gacha game domain which was so incredibly stupid my IQ was dropping. How did no one stop him and say 'hey maybe this is a dumb idea'.

Honestly all seemed good upto the Shinjuku showdown battle part but now the chapters are irrelevant and feel bore story is not having a good turn since few chapters now we might see something in chp242 but all these last few chapters just thumbs down
