The End of Lindsay and Carl Part 1 (Summer House Finale Full Recap Part 1) 

The reason I’m more on the Team Lindsay side (to be clear, the split for me is like 48 Lindsay/52 Carl responsibility) is that Carl has chickened out of every conversation about the relationship. This relationship was obviously doomed from the start, but I think Carl knew he wanted to end it the second week of summer and started planning his exit from there. It just feels cowardly.

I think that I agree that lindsay was more sensitive to when she was sober. Definitely think that’s possible. I also think she might have fatigue from being sensitive to him for a full year. I mean she spent a whole summer last year, listening to him complain about loverboy and then you know spent a year of him trying to figure out his career. I think she may just have fatigue from supporting carl constantly and never feeling supported. I think it can be really exhausting feeling like you’re doing everything to progress a relationship and you get so stuck in the grind that you just feel tired. I think that’s why in the last scene you see her give up or just look fatigued.

Everybody wants to paint Lindsey as the villain but Carl ain’t no prize. He seems to be incapable of holding a job and instead, has hare brained schemes that no woman in their right mind could support. He’s basically spaghetti that’s been cooked way too long.

We can totally still see a divorce next summer with Kyle and Amanda.😂

Lindsay is so used to toxicity that she thinks that's normal in a relationship hence why she's shocked they couldn't continue.

You need to be confident to stand next to a strong independent woman. When Carl’s started to dip, his ego got in the way and he stopped valuing how amazing it is to be with a woman who doesn’t need you. Softness is an attribute most have to push down to get to a place of being called a Strong independent woman.

I wish they would bring back Family Karma and Shahs

I felt very uncomfortable where Carl wants Lindsay to hug him harder, what was that

I never saw this breakup coming! I was totally blindsided by this episode! 😉

Who did not see this break-up coming. The relationship was doomed the day Carl proposed. Summer fling ok. Marriage, hell no.

I can see Lindsey with a strong, ambitious, successful guy who lives in an amazing brownstone, drives a Mercedes, and vacations in Italy. Carl was never, ever going to be that high achiever Lindsey truely wants. She was settling for Carl because he wanted her and she desperately needs to be loved.

Imagine your partner quits his job because it effects your mental health so badly. You support him during the year when he starts to find a new direction and then he turns around and says I want to go back into that environment. That's insane. Especially since he's saying she should be excited. Yes she should have supported his other ideas but it doesn't cancel out the other bs

The thing that got me about this episode is that it was clear to me that Lindsay has been trying to be as supportive as she can in her own way, but she has been doing it for MONTHS with no substantive changes from Carl and he is continually pushing the envelope and telling her he needs more. I agree that these conversations while drunk or hung over probably make it worse, but I would be fed up and snappy too if my partner hadn't been making any significant moves jobs wise while also expecting me to be 100% supportive. There comes a point when you need to have a tough love conversation. Also in terms of the blindside, my impression was that just by reading her face in that last conversation, she just wasn't expecting him to come out and say all of that horrible stuff to her. Like watching her expressions during that she genuinely looked shocked and I probably would be too. No matter how bad things would be with my partner, if I thought our communication was the only issue I wouldn't be expecting that much resentment to come out from someone I am weeks away from marrying. I don't think that's how she is positioning the blindsided aspect now, but that was how I understood it watching the conversation go down.

On the Wes/Ciara situation - I get a slight hint that maybe he thinks Ciara is out of his league, so the fact that she's into him is getting him into his head about committing because of a "too good to be true" type scenario. The consistent downplaying of intimate moments and being a goofball read like him defaulting to what he knew got him a date in the first place, and he's having trouble being vulnerable and a bit more serious cuz he's worried she may get disinterested or he's convinced himself she would never be exclusive and serious with him?

I think that Carl should have never gotten into a relationship so soon in his sobriety. Especially a serious commitment like getting engaged. They thought that they would be great together because they were friends but once you cross that line between friends and lovers, you see things totally differently.

This season of SH was epic. Great cast, great parties, incredible dynamics. I'll prob rewatch it at some point!

Listen I understand Carl is newly sober and I fully agree that Lindsey can be a nughtmare when she is drinking too much. That all said, I disagree with you guys making it seem like she is refusing to change for him. First of all, a relationship should not be built on those sort of expectations no matter who it is. Secondly, I think you guys might be down playing how calculated Carl has been this season. Im not a Lyndsey stan but it was very obvious to me that hes been very manipulative both towards Lyndsey and the rest of the cast. Having these secret conversations where hes just straight up trashing her behind her back and planting seeds of all these things she does when he's actively planning to call of the wedding ON CAMERA. I personally think that their relationship was alot more about being a brand for him and securing his spit on the show than Lyndsey realized. It so interesting because everyone accused her of being this mastermind to use their relationship as a publicity stunt - but, as im watching this season, Im seeing Carl as the one talking about influencer life and Carl being the one trying to guilt trip Lyndsey about not wanting to go to a baseball game that HE made a brand deal with ..and him getting pissy because shes the bigger star and he knows nobody was really going to be looking for him if he showed up by himself. I personally think Carl is very vein and hes a lot more calculated about the reality tv situation than the audience is aware of. From where I sit, Lindsey dis nothing but try to communicate and be supportive almost the ehole summer. Sure she had moments but I think alot if that stems from her building resentment for Carl just expecting her to coddle him while he figures his life out. I think shes given him plenty of grace knowing that hes pretty much rebuilding his whole life. I think where they went wrong was not being on the same page about a timeline for when Carl should be back to work. And as someone who has dealt with a man out of work in the past, I will say they tend to become absolutely miserable because their egos are tied to providing in traditional relationships. I personally believe that Carl was poking the bear with Lyndsey because he feels bad about his own role in their relationship and not contributing so he projected all these things onto her and then she actually started to feel them. I dont thats just my opinion. Lyndsey is no angel and I dont think she was as heartbroken as say Ariana but I think Carl deserves a little more heat than hes getting. He knew Lyndsey partied when he met her so to act as though its a surprise that she is a messy drunk is just so ridiculous to me. He also knew shes a goal oriented driven person so in what world would she be okay with her fiance being unemployed long term lol

when you get engaged - to a woman- that means you’re in it, you’ve decided, you’re committed. You chose life together and you figure it out. She was 100% blind sighted.

West was unemployed and living in NYC, he is young and on reality TV for the first time. His future is unknown and his finances are dwindling. I understand why he didnt want to put a label on it. He needs to grow up and get on stable ground.

Oh no- it’s quite easy to declare that HE is the problem. He’s struggling with simply being an adult. #TeamLyndsey all day.

He’s high maintenance and she’s bossy

34:50 she thinks they’re getting married because he proposed! It doesn’t matter what words he uses when they’re arguing because he proposed to her. She would never think he would just break up with her, like he hadn’t just decided and committed to a life long situation by proposing, the act of getting engaged is deciding on a life long commitment period, and she took it seriously, he did not.

Carl very much does have a crutch when things get tough. He's still smoking weed and that's a crutch, trust me. I quit every substance years ago and i still smoke weed when things feel very heavy. So i don't say I'm sober. Because I'm not. I'm still using a substance as a crutch. And it's hard for people to take your sobriety seriously if you're still using something to numb your emotions

The issue with ciara is that you need to date to find someone you want to be in a relationship with. She sucks the fun out of it all. Plus i am sick of amanda, paige and ciara talking endlessly about Lindsay- she never says anything about them and she gets every guy to declare love and propose so she must be doing something right

If therapy is just teaching you to argue better instead of communicate better you need to break up

Can t stand Lindsay! Betrayal??? She should have,seen signs and wondered herself if they were a good match with all of their fighting....how can you go into a marriage like that?

I can't stand Lindsey. I'm so glad for Carl.

People have to realize that Carl has been drinking a drugging most of his adult life, now that's he's sober, he's trying to catch up to where he should be in life, but that takes time, TEAM CARL!!

Sorry but again you guys are defending Carl and not in the middle - the hate for Lindsey has blindsided you both and and constantly looking and analysing her actions but you dont give the same to carl because if there any analysing on his actions always followed with but he is blah blah! You give reasons to his actions because he is a man or you like him but you dont do that to Lindsey which its absolutely fine. If you are not biased as you are claiming then you should treat them the same. Just saying be clear and honest on this. I dont have to listen to you guys I know but every time I do it annoys me. Thats it

Therapy would have never worked bc Lindsay has a strong ability to pin everything on Carl and make it seem like their arguments are normal. I agree with Amanda that she Lindsay doesn’t do it maliciously, but it is what she does. Also, everyone has stated that it is difficult to win an argument with her and so they hide from her rather than have a confrontation. I think this explains some of Carl’s behavior of hiding and not stepping up, not all his behavior but some. Therapy would have never worked.

Carl is sober and sees reality...he did not want to live the rest of his life with a screeching banshee...She only cared about being married and having a baby... not Carl. Best for both of them

I’m sorry I just don’t have the same sympathy for Lindsey as Shooter does. This relationship is 70/30 Lindsey-Carl respectively.
