I feel the Switch line will never die. Yea all these new portable devicies are insanly powerfull but they lack one thing. Nintendo exclusive. Yes you can emulate the switch but what about the next gen switch? Plus you're missing out on some features when emulating. Im actually glad these competetors are poping out. They are showing what it possible in the Handheld/Console hybrid market. The ideal launch of the new Switch should be 2 models. A basic model priced at $300 and a Pro model for about $500. Have the basic a little weaker and a little less premium. That way you dont isolate parents who wants to but their 5 year old a Switch but doesnt wanna break the bank. Have the $500 model for people who are gaming veterans and are looking for a more premium expierence

@@joker6558 Well they can do this then. Make the actual Switch medium specs and sell it with a basic dock that doesn't add any performance. Just outputs whatever is on the Switch. Charge $300. They can also release a "Pro" dock for lets say $200 which will give you 4K 60/120 FPS. This is how the dock actually works now. The switch is 720p but the dock makes it 1080p. So it is possible. I know they can just release the "Pro" version by itself for like $500 but that will isolate the parents wanting to buy a nintendo console for their 5 year old. Also at that pricepoint, you're already in the PS5/Serise X range. My point is they have to find out a way to keep cost low for the casuals and also have an option for the hardcore audiance.

I think the next Switch will be released as a Switch Lite for 300 and the „real“ switch for 400 to 450. Nintendo allready target the low cost users with their curremt switch lite and i think they make the same move with the switch 2.

true. i didnt have a console for a long time. i came to the switch from my pc and so far i am more than pleased. if they release a new handheld console like the switch with better specs, i will be here for it. till then, why should i upgrade something that still works wonderfully for me ? also i still have like 20 games that need to be finished and i work so many hours . with my pace that will be definitely enough to entertain me till the new console comes out

$2-300 for Project Q sounds insane to me. It's essentially a Dualsense with a screen attached. Most of the features are things already available on the $70 controller, so it's $130+ for a small LCD screen. Remote Play is also already a thing so it's not like they're figuring out streaming from scratch either. $300 is what I'd expect from a full-on new handheld device like the Vita.

If Nintendo makes a more powerful Switch that is backwards compatible (I still think the use of cartridges is really smart), then they will easily be able to sell new consoles to everyone that has a Switch and improve the biggest flaw of the switch which is its performance. Considering their competition among consoles and the new handhelds coming out for PC games, the hybrid market along with their exclusives are their biggest selling point.

I just bought my first switch when the Totk edition came out. I’m a new dad and my son is 1 and being able to play on a TV is hard nowadays. So I enjoy the handheld and occasionally playing on the TV. There’s really nothing I need more than the switch, I love the games they have for it.

Sony making a handheld Vita 2 that is twice as powerful as the switch and small enough to fit in your pocket and starts porting a lot of ps4 and ps5 games to it as well as making exclusives for it I think it would do super well right now it would bring a new generation their first handheld they can chuck in their pocket and go to school

@@hagrid397 so you have a point, but is worth noting that wiiU had a sales problem to begin with because no one understood what it was and it was poorly marketed. Even now, if I’m in the switch aisle at the store I almost always see clueless parents that have no clue what the switch does or the difference between them and it baffles me because you could just google it. But they’ll go and buy a switch lite for their 4 kids to share. Mass consumers just didn’t know what the wiiU was.

The problem with the PlayStation Q is that remote play is a free app on your phone. It’s not worth the price of a Nintendo Switch (and not too much cheaper than a Steam Deck) when you can go buy a backbone for a third of the price and attach it to your phone for free.

The Switch isn’t dying just yet. Nintendo said that it’d have a lifespan of 8-10 years, which is insane. And with the new WarioWare, Mario Wonder (goty), Mario RPG Remake, and even the new princess peach game and luigi’s mansion dark moon port scheduled for next year.. the switch still has a lot of life left in it.

Sony is really going all-in on premium accessories this generation. PSVR is $500. The new streaming handheld is $200. Plus you need to own a PS5 to use either of those which will be an additional $400 ($500 if you want one with a disk drive). Oh and to get a TV capable of 4K120FPS or whatever the PS5 outputs, that'll probably be a thousand dollars. And games are $70 a pop. This is expensive. I mean Xbox and Nintendo and PC are also expensive but wow.

There's no actually price release for project q is a rumor/estimate I'm betting don't will try and get away with selling it for $500 Also is NOT a handheld is a ps4 accessory I didn't watch son's reveal but if they're trying to pass this off as a handheld Sony is crazy Also people are trying to claim this is sony's way to level things in regards to Microsoft's game streaming but if so is poorly executed 1 Microsoft streaming can be done to any compatible computer, smartphone or tablet 2 Sony has apps to stream games on smartphones and tablets(not sure if it works with ps5 or just ps4) Requiring people to get a dedicated device to stream would be dumb man the more Sony does the less interest I have in ps5(granted I'm content with my switch and ps4 atm and on top of that have quite the backlog of games I got during sales to play so even if I was interested in upgrading It'd be unnecessary for me) I initially got excited when I heard about the new 'handheld' until I realized it was just a misnamed ps5 accessory xd I love my handheld a lot still have my vita and limited edition mh4u new 3ds xl on top of my ps4 and switch lol

Even though I don’t thinks it’s dead yet, ever since the steam deck came out my switch has been collecting dust. If anything more handhelds will most likely strong arm Nintendo into innovating to keep that #1 spot in handhelds and consoles in general with last gen. I’m just glad handhelds are finally getting the attention they deserve and hopefully becomes normalized in the industry to have a handheld version for people that either travel a lot and/or don’t have a lot of money. The technology isn’t there yet but hopefully that could become a reality.

It's rather funny. Many were bullish back at around 2012, speculating that gaming handhelds were a dying breed with the rise of smartphones rendering them obsolete. The 3DS stuttered out of the gate clawing a steady comeback, whilst the Vita crashed and burned. Now around a decade later, with Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, plethora of handhelds, and seemingly infinite variety of Chinese retro handhelds, it seems that handhelds are in a really good state right now. People seem to be appreciating gaming handhelds more even if a controller with smartphone setup would do an ample job.

I think that Nintendo will never really “die”. One thing that these new handhelds are missing that Nintendo has is the nostalgia factor and the “family friendly” playability. Most people from my generation that grew up with DSs and Pokémon will always stick to Nintendo exclusive games as they are our comfort zone. I think Nintendo has a super good grasp on the general population who like to play causally and families, whereas Sony’s market seems to be more catered towards more “pro-gamers” or those much more into the gaming world.

@@roxas303 graphics and speed other than that the deck allows emulation, it has trackpads and allows to sleep the device itself. The ROG doesn’t allow you to Pause a game unless you save and quit entirely and then reload the game fresh. This is is a massive part of the deck as every gamer wants to be able to pause/resume at a touch of a button.

Switch is Nintendo's gold mine right now. One of the best selling systems since SNES. I'm sure they're going to make a Super Nintendo Switch or something similar. Nintendo was experimenting with VR a few years back. If they do VR though, I think it should be separate from the Switch. Kinda like the Gameboy series and DS family of systems.

Ya I think your wrong about project Q. If Sony made a dedicated handheld while correcting the mistakes it made with the vita it would sell like gangbusters. No one would pick a generic stream only device for $300 over a handheld that can stream but also playgames natively. And it wouldn’t be competing in a saturated market because Sony is one of the biggest game companies and has a huge library and huge fan base.

There won't be a new system, 4K gaming is way too expensive energy wise for any kind of handheld, especially ones that are meant to be processing the games, the Q Lite is just a stream platform, it doesn't process anything, the Steam Deck and it's clones often average 1-2 less hours of gameplay than the Switch V2 and Oled, that's pretty heavy and the Steam Deck has a much more beefy battery than the Switch does, it still plows through it's capacity faster. So, the question is what improvements can be made that would be significant enough to convince people to upgrade whilst not destroying the battery life of a de-facto handheld gaming console? If they made a "pro" version that's the same thing with a full HD display (cause again nobody is doing more than that on handhelds as the power draw would be too high) running at 60 FPS on some games how many people would rush out to buy that? i wouldn't lol it's not enough to convince me to buy it. I can just jailbreak and overclock my current switch and save myself the 300-400 dollars lol

@@liquidsnake6879 Yes there will, and I guarantee it will be announced if not released by the end of 2025. Nintendo has never been about tech specs, honestly the biggest improvement they could make to the Switch (while still having good battery life) is a 1080p screen. The only people that have a problem with first party Nintendo games being 30fps are people that just want to hate on the Switch, it's not a big deal. And sure, you can just jailbreak your Switch, but it's a lot harder than nearly any other (non current gen) console and has a lot more risk. And you also can't play Odyssey 2, Metroid Prime 4, Gen 10 of Pokemon, etc on a hacked Switch (These are just examples, they might not be next gen exclusive or you might not care about them, but they're just to represent games that you do want to play). People don't buy video game consoles for graphical fidelity, they buy them for the games, and sooner or later those games will get to be too hard for current gen to play.

I loved the switch at the start but i quickly ran out of games i was interested. Being constrained to the nintendo library caused me to sell the switch. However, even if i could play non nintendo games on it, nothing i would want to play would run. After i got through mario smash bros botw there wasnt much left for me personally. My initial reason for purchase was metroid prime 4. Obviously that never happened. I have been switchless for maybe 2 years and now getting the ally.

I'm thinking that it'll be a New 3DS situation, similar mold with a little design tweaks but newer hardware. It plays all Switch games at a better performance but has its own library of games. I was kinda scared about it existing because I saw it as the Sony alternative to portables, which means that if this doesn't sells well they'll give up on the market for good -PSP and Vita were amazing, so it'll be a shame if we loose the chance of something similar in the future. I hate that companies are trying harder and harder to make streaming game mainstream. Outside of major cities in the US, the majority of the United States doesn't have fast enough internet speeds to support streaming. I live only a few hours from one of the biggest cities in America, pay a premium for internet, and get around 230mb/s, and even with those speeds, attempting to stream games is a complete waste of time. The majority of the world doesn't have the internet infrastructure in place for this to work, why are businesses so insistent on trying it again and again when it fails every time?

Yeah but they are expensive what i'm looking for is a headset the basically works like the switch vr where you put your switch in the lens but with any game just not vr games. But it seems all the ones on amazon only are designed to work with games with vr mode.
