May Allah bless you and your family sheikh. Thank you for sharing this very important topic. Edward Said's work was very dear to me in university where I was introduced to it. Also, beautiful recitation of Ayat ul Kursi at the end. Jazakallah.
1 - Whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi (Glory be to Allah and Praise Him) a hundred times during the day, his sins are wiped away, even if they are like the foam of the sea [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:168, Sahih Muslim; #4:2071] 2 - whoever says SubhanAllahi wa biHamdihi, Subhan-Allahi 'l-`adheem (Glory be to Allah, and Praise, Glory be to Allah, the Supreme) Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by the Most Merciful One " [Sahih al-Bukhari; #7:67, Sahih Muslim, #4:2071]

END OF ORIENTALISM? The book has been swept under the carpet to a large degree even within academia. Orientalism hasn't come to an end in Western academia - changing the name of a department, taking a more subtle approach, or creating a post-colonial studies department, does not change things dramatically. Western academia is still an arm of Western (neo/global) imperialism.
