11:50 Not a hematologist myself but I looked into it and what's happening in the bloodletting room is apparently "freaky shit" and it's bad. Hope this helps!
As a proud Midwestern myself I must state, cows can have horns too, the real thing that causes them to have horns is whether they have polled genes or not
It's not really genetic in most cases, at least not with the breeds that are common here. The horns are removed surgically when they're young in order to make the cows less dangerous as adults.
The links to WW2 and hell are tied together more than just being plot devices. Germany had an occult division during the war that did a lot of research into demon summoning.
@@kalaniseymour5642 eh, I feel like since the doll cries whenever it sees monika’s grave and spooky might actually mean that it has the father’s spirit. Do note that i never played the game and im only saying this because I saw the video.
@@ADuckWithARU-vidAccount that’s because ww2 had so many fucked up events that happened that you could use them for the backstory of a game or a monster. For example you could make a monster that was a Jew who got gassed during the holocaust, a Serb who was brutally tortured and then murdered by the ustase (a Croat fascist organization that did so many massacres that even the god damn mustache man told them to calm down) or maybe a Korean woman that was...”laid without her consent” by Japanese soldiers to death. Like, when you know all the un humane stuff that happened during that war, it makes perfect sense to use it in a horror game
39:14 you can shake the doll?! literally a game changer. completed the entire puppet house without knowing this with me just running around while scared to get hit of anything
@@fireflocs It’s kinda weird considering that the game tells you you can do that, at least from what I remember (I haven’t played, but I have seen playthroughs). The note about the doll says something about how the more you shake it, the more of the entity inside of it’s soul is extracted. It is a manner of punishing said entity.
This lore is so truly distressing. A war vet sent into an episode by his daughter just trying to have some fun and then spending likely decades trying to find her again just to say sorry and ends up making things worse for everyone in the process.
Thank you for the great video!! As for the little dating sim in karamari hospital, in one of Umi's dialogues she mentions that she feels like she's met the player before and that she just kept on dying over and over again. In my opinion, I think she was stuck in this constant loop whenever the player tried to flirt with her. That's why when you pick the absolute worse options she's finally able to escape, so in the end, with your creepiness you were doing her a favor (?)
You can really tell that they were hitting their groove with the Hospital DLC, it was such a fine tuned horror experience compared to the mansion. Don't get me wrong, the mansion is awesome, but it's more running away from various monsters and doesn't really start to experiment with storytelling and moving through a unique level until you hit specimen 10.
I would argue base game starts doing that at spec 8 since the forest theme is just such an extreme departure and the story of the area coincides with the deer extremely effectively, but I absolutely agree that karamari was a big leap into getting the hang of thingd
@@kagemay Even then it was pretty much a straight line with some notes like every other specimen area before it, but this one has minor enemies that chase you. But it was a pretty interesting room regardless and of course changes the entire game with the axe.
@@zath6425 yea thats fair I do consider it to be different enough to seperate it from what came before but I fully understand ur perspective and your opinion is valid
I remember the clown because who doesn't remember the clown, but I also remember the doll crawling directly above you on the ceiling because it made a weird sound and you end up asking "what's that?" And then after a bit of searching, you look straight up and there's a doll staring right at you also nice deer lord cosplay they'll hire you for the live action adaptation for sure
Fun fact the clown is voiced by Tomar from Oneyplays, he's also English dub voice actor for the barber who gets possessed by Anubis in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders.
I used to think the T. rex specimen was Nurse Tanaka, because the nurse said she started using the x ray on her head and the patient has bandages wrapped around their head.
Not to mention the fact that so much radiation would cause the DNA to start to mutate, and if you look up images of the most radioactive man (If you don't want to be depressed or horrified, dont do it.) then you'll understand a lot better what I'm getting at here.
@@airplanemaniacgaming7877 that sounds very interesting but i really dont want to search that up. could you give me a brief rundown of what happened to him?
@@dan-tz9dl A Japanese nuclear plant was not handling nuclear materials safely to save a buck, causing an incident where a worker, Hisashi Ouchi, got the most extreme case of radiation poisoning recorded. In short, the man started slowly rotting to death while alive for 83 days, conscious during a large chunk of it. His skin started peeling off at some point, so they had to cover him in bandages completely. It's an upsetting story, especially in detail, so I wouldn't recommend reading more about it if you don't want to ruin your life for a few days.
1:15 as someone who has reached Room 16,000 in OG's endless mode, I felt that. Awesome video man. Thanks so much for the shoutout at 1:10:13. I'm honored that my videos helped prevent yours from sucking...that would have been the REAL bad ending! Keep up the great work.
Perhaps the doll is possessed by Monica herself? That would explain why she cries upon seeing Spooky as well as her own grave. Maybe her husband lied about letting her rest.
I saw other people saying they thought it was the father’s spirit in the doll, which I think makes more sense. Sure, he's caused all of the suffering and misery of both the spirits and unfortunate people stuck in the mansion, but I don't think he would disrespect his wife’s wishes. Also, the note seemed to be intended for only her to read. The only person he would be lying to is Monica, and that doesn’t really make sense if he immediately tried bringing her back after Edit: one more thing, we live through the director’s ptsd nightmare after sacrificing the doll
i dont believe he would disrespect his wife's wishes like that. I think it probably is possesed by either a random spririt that just feels bad for Spooky and her tormented soul or the father himself.
It cant be the mother because the note exist. It cant be the father because he’s the one who ended the dole experiment. Despite people trying to say its spooky in someway, we do straight up see her. So it probably is some random soul, witch is maybe why in the HD remaster, the developer purposelessly removed the crying scene.
Given I am somebody who lives under the American healthcare system, hearing doctors 'accidentally' give their terminally ill patients hallucinigens makes me go "yeah thats about right"
It's probably the same thing that they still have observation rooms where the healthiest patients are bound and conscious while doctors do their procedures while the surgeon reap the nurses while the streaming camera is on?
@@thequeenofcringe1585 No it isn't. Damn it miffs me when people exaggerate to the point of absurdity, and Gen Z is especially good at this. Being hyperbolic doesn't make your point stronger, it just makes it a joke.
Here's my hellgate theory. Karamari hospital happened to be close by when the hellgate was opened, releasing Ghost Cow, and releasing some of the patient's souls back into their bodies. Other spirits also fled to their point of origin, having to be recaptured, such as the Puppet, Ringu, the Mini-Mansion, etc. My theory for the doll is that it's the benevolent part of Spooky, trapped in a doll for eternity. Spooky is the malevolent part, killing most if not all of the people she meets.
I don't think Spooky is malevolent at all. She is the epitome of Chaotic Neutral. She just wants to scare people, she has no interest in killing anyone and she doesn't take any of the horrors seriously. I think the interpretation that Spooky leads people the experiments to get killed is off. I believe the cardboard cutouts and little tricks she plays with present etc. are the extend of what she herself prepared to scare you. The mansion just happens to be infested by horrific demons which she doesn't work with .
GOSH I love it when people do hour-long videos about things I'm passionate about. Thank you so much PakPak. You're a blessing to this game and its rather quiet community.
the radiology stuff at 29:00 miiiiight be a reference to a horror subgenre of visual novels/japanese literature in general called "denpa" which has to do with radio waves causing people to go insane, hallucinate, be controlled or give them special powers etc etc. It might just be a coincidence, but the bit with the dating sim makes me think the connection could be intentional, especially with all the doctors having lapses in their memories and doing horrible things during those lapses
@@StafkiGTNThe director is dead and the soul is forced to relive that moment over and over again. Also, in the good ending of the dollhouse, we see Spooky with her mother and father, meaning they all died
The chair death scene is much simpler than you think. Basically, you get banished to another planet and die to the planet's atmosphere, which tears you apart. So basically Beetlejuiced to another planet. 48:17 in case its not obvious, the dollhouse takes MASSIVE inspiration from Wolf RPG Maker game "Mad Father". From the experimental dolls made from dead people to the name of the mother. Kira clearly took inspiration from this game and used it as a parallel to the story of Spooky.
my guess is, Spooky's dad was already working with GL labs when Spooky died, and as he ascended into a higher position in the organization, he focused more and more on the project to bind spirits to physical form...all because he wanted to see his daughter again.
"i'mma keep it real with you chief, if you wanna grab a happy spirit to entertain children, going to hell to grab one isnt the best option" is one of the best lines i have heard
Body bag guy looks like he's cold and wrapping himself in a blanket, same energy as those "me and the boys at 3am going to the kitchen to get snacks" cursed images
@Pastel-ym9vx I'm assuming they meant that his commentary/voice was comforting. But yeah when mention that, I can understand how the comment could sound strange lol
I love how the deer Lord was transformed from the worst character in spooky's (same speed as ringu and that was it) to the hardest enemy to get away from because he was added to lost in Vivo (he still had everything else tho)
I think the doll might be spookys dad, it always cries when seeing spooky, is aware of the threat of the ghosts while also having the power and ability to keep them at bay. That and the dads body doesnt show up until you toss the doll into the machine, which is also how you are able to see his trauma through his eyes.
pakpak the type of guy to say he's gonna milk something, then spend 1hr 20mins of my own life feeding me the pure unprocessed milk as i watch the 2 second clip of frenzy over and over.
The obvious candidate for the spirit in the doll is Monica. She's dead, she would have reason to cry when seeing her own grave and when seeing Spooky, and the notes very conspicuously say that MOST of the spirits in the dolls are children - not ALL.
"He cannot fathom a thought besides his next meal" So this is completely off-topic, but if anyone here has been on Prednisone, a steroid used to treat a number of inflammatory conditions, they know what this is like. One of the side effects of it is massively increased hunger. You gain weight like nothing else because, no joke, while on a high dose of it I could only think about my next meal. I would be PAINFULLY full from the food I just ate, and already counting down the minutes to when I can eat the next meal. It's absolutely insane. I ballooned up to a ridiculous 210 while on it the first time, and am currently back on it at a lower dose and yet still went up from 130 to almost 170 now. It certainly made me empathize more with people that are chronically overweight in that you have NO IDEA what another person is dealing with sometimes. If someone had that constant hunger I cannot blame them for a second for being overweight, it was terrifying and impossible to fight.
This reminded me of getting to watch my friend play this game. He ran into Frenzy one room from the safe room and he just yelled "oh fuck" in a really shaky way when she came at him and turned right back around to enter the safe room. Super funny monster, the clown also got him 3 times.
Not sure if it totally fits your more horror-focused content but I'd love to see you cover Akuma Kira's other game Lunacid! It has a lot of spooky themes and cool enemies with a bunch of lowkey world building to ponder, think it'd be good material for you to riff off of.
Not sure if you realized, but Monster 4's (the bandaged guy) deathscreen had a QR code in it (The link is on the Wiki if you don't want to spend the time looking for it). Just a neat little thing I wasn't sure you knew. :)
Also total sideline comment: Dad was clearly alive in WW2, but somehow had access to Unit 731? There is a possibility, with a wife named Monica (an old German name) and an ambiguous green helmet, and no location for Spooky's every given, that her dad was NOT part of the allied forces.
In his nightmare he's using an M1 Garand though feel like they'd have given him a German weapon if the intention was to imply he was an Axis soldier it's far more likely he just got access to stuff from Unit 731 taken by the U.S after the war during the allied occupation of Japan.
My if-ee theory on sunshine academy is it's the backstory for specimen 1 (goop), since by the end she: Has a greenish tint to here skin Starts drooling Is seemingly melting And at the very end she just repeatedly says "CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE..."
I can only see one problem with this, that being goop presumably died in the mansion because we find the note presumably written by goop in the mansion
this might be grasping at straws but the text in the secret frenzy hallway seems to vaguely reference parts of the specimen 9 boss, which by rule of karamari hospital isnt actually canon. i think its possible that the whole "you did not trust your eyes" part is referencing you hallucinating that whole segment. its possible that, before you even enter the hospital, the beast in the minds of all of the doctors and monsters has already begun controlling you, and you're already going insane.
I literally just found your channel a few days ago through your Spooky's video, and was thinking that the sequel might never get made and released.... You just made my day and I haven't even watched it yet xD thank you!
Not a Haemotologist but I decided to take the challenge of describing what is happening in the "Blood Letting" room, despite how impossible it is given the information and what we already know is happening to the doctors. Not really purely in scientific terms, some in layman's. First it can be understood by screams of agony heard and the blood pouring from the ceiling that a painful, blood "heavy" surgery such as anastomosis, endarterectomy, renal transplant, a form of EVAR (endovascular aortic repair). But the issue is there are so many painful procedures that involve the cutting open and moving of blood vessels or similar and just the apparent psychosis that any of these could be the right outcome or it could be none and that overall it was just a sudden outburst of a doctor deciding to perform a spontaneous surgery and then not follow through leaving the patient with cut open veins, and arteries that they have excessive hemorrhaging and other side effects such as haematemesis.
56:37 That "35 year old father of one decides to move out of grandmothers house and give up allowance" meme legit made me lol. I'd never seen that before and it is great.
honestly my favorite monster has always been the bandaged one idk i really like the self cannibalism and over theme of eating others i love how only it’s mouth is visible
The clown does reapear and im pretty sure hes harmless, like he just teleports and do different posses always trolling you into think he'll do something
The doll likely serves as an anchor for Spooky's spirit to appear in the mortal plane. Considering how we sacrifice the doll to end the Director's nightmare, it's likely that he may have used the doll as a conduit to bind Spooky's soul to earth.
ive last only seen the tattle tail video and completely forgot about the channel, but as a fellow good voice horror enjoyer i am glad to have remembered ,10/10
i have no idea why but the body bag rising up with the gangster's paradise scream punched the air right out my lungs oh my god that was so funny i think there's something wrong with me
Ngl good video, i really did not know about Deer god mentioning Bayagototh at the time he got absorbed, really made me think about how Lost in vivo world might be related to spooky's world lore wise
The doll may contain Spoopers soul. It was shown that Spooper was Spooky's friend in life. The good part of Spooper within the doll, and the portion that remembers all the experiments possibly done to them, in the form of that parasite. Or... it was Monica. That would be the only reason the doll could show you what to do. Also: Who voiced the other characters in this video? If your editor did it, give a raise.
You know, for a small indie horror game, spooky has better lore than most horror games in this century Edit: how the hell did this comment got hearted by pak pak and became the most popular comment in this video? Like thanks but why?
@@theknightwithabadpictotall7639 while i do think this game’s lore is great, I feel like other indie horror games like faith and omori probably has better lore

I was really happy to hear someone mention Super Best Friends. Then I was really sad that I was reminded once again of (Final). Truly the greatest channel you've never heard of. It's crazy how influential they were considering their relatively small size. Realistically, most people watching this video have seen something/someone that's been directly influenced by them (besides Spooky's Jumpscares, considering Matt's vocal role.
I think the doll cries because the doll feels the tragic end of spooky and makes her cry. But the problem with that theory is that she could cry on every speciment basically with this logic.
People have probably already pointed this out, but when i remembered where "dinnerbone" was from and the fact its an upsidedown cow, i laughed out loud for real lmao. Thats a hell of a minecraft reference
UGH i found you from your first Spooky's video and i love it so much, ive watched it at least 5 times now. i was getting very tired of waiting, PakPak. Love your vids, man.
I remember Spooky's mansion when it came out. I mean, don't get me wrong, I never played it because I was, and still am a little bi- Let me start over. I think Spooky is adorable and that probably contributed to me being much less of a little bit- Third time's a charm. This game is good. People should play it, or at least watch videos on it.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO 1 HOUR PAK UPLOADDDD Btw this might help me understand more because 75% of the stream you did I was half listening because I was 3D modeling lmao. 21:01 you can almost say the maw is.. quite fearsome Also I remember you calling dinnerbone a Rottweiler
oh my god, the dlc video essay finally arrived. actually was waiting for this since the first sjsm video dropped. thank you so much for reintroducing me to this insane game you should really check out lost in vivo!
9:35 While the Super Best Friends channel is no longer active, all its members now do their own thing with their own channels/streams. Matt McMuscles has a channel by the same name that's doing quite well. His most famous and watched series are 'What Happened?', where he goes over the history of the trobled development of video games and related media, and 'The Worst Fighting Game', where he analyzes and reviews obscure and jankie fighting games in order to put them all in a tier list and find the worse. His channel is worth checking out if either picks your interest. Neat that the screams are his voice.
With the spirits being trapped in the mansion, the staff clearly doing YOLO summoning by the end, by the fact they hid candles, I'm choosing to believe the Doll is inhabited my Monica. Horrified of what the place had become, wanting to free her daughter and husband. Covering her eyes to spooky as she can't bear to see her daughter like this. That's my guess
Just thought of this and it's probably wrong. But what if the doll is the dad? He cries at the sight of spooky, racked with guilt and grief. He also cries at the sight of his wife's grave, missing her deeply.
Honestly.. after thinking about it, it makes sense... combined with the fact that when you place the doll into the box, you get his memory, the implication that he might be in the doll proposes interesting concepts. Maybe out of shame and guilt for all he's done, he locked himself, confined to a doll, never to be released again. Also because it would also logically explain a lot of plot holes with other theories
